    Oh wow great vid! This definitely takes care of a lot of the issues I have with my current G30

    One of the reasons for the pipe was as overflow, so the area below the basket won't get dry.

    What device is being used at the 30 second mark, looks like recirculation. I’ve wanted something similar for my G30

      That is our Fighter Jet Fly Sparge (sku 40256). Great simple design for reliable performance making recirculation even easier.

    Great vid! Any comments around the different between the new G30 vs the Brewzilla Gen 4 35L?

      Thanks for checking out our video. The Brewzilla is not one of the systems we caring so, unfortunately, we can't comment on the features of that system. The app system in the Grainfather lineup really is incredible and I love how easy it is to use with their other systems including the glycol chiller and conicals. The 3 three warranty is also a great feature, adding a real peace of mind to the purchase.

    Why don't they make a dedicated bottom plate at the kettle stage and also keep the original filter as well. Just needs slightly extended legs to clear the outlet.

    Sooo for those of us legacy folks is the new grain basket available for purchase?

    • @nbwillis8081

      The grain basket is coming later this summer. The rolled edge plates (sku 43767) are available now and compatible with the old grain basket.

    Can this be used for extract and BIAB batches? I want to eventually get into all-grain so I'd like to future-proof my investment.

      Yes it can! I just got me G30v3 this week and had a couple mini mash/BIAB kits left. If brewing all extract just brew without the grain basket and use the G30 just like you would your regular kettle. For BIABB/mini mash you can either use the grain basket and dump the grains in there, or (as I did) use the bag just like you would with your regular kettle. This is a really great setup!

    Can you do a full volume mash??

    • @NorthernBrewerTV
      @NorthernBrewerTV  Рік тому +1

      Depending on the grist / OG of the beer you certainly can. Lower or medium gravity beers, I would say you can. A 12% ABV barleywine? Likely not.

    Wish there was a way to swap out my G1 for this new one. Fear the old one is going to fail one of these days. I’ve loved the unit an awesome way to get into all grain

    I am planning to downsize to 2.5 gallon batches, just for ease of movement for my ancient body, will this unit work with a 2.5 gallon batch vs. a 5 gallon batch?

    • @NorthernBrewerTV
      @NorthernBrewerTV  Рік тому

      The G30 works well for smaller batches, but we recommend you aim for 3 gallons as that is the start of the calibration lines on the inside of the G30 unit. Or just come up with a different way of measuring liquid volume like a calibration stick with markings, etc. if you really want to aim specifically for 2.5g. Hope this helps!

      @theliberalrepublican Рік тому

      @@NorthernBrewerTV I expect to start with about 3.5 gallons and lose about 0.5 gallons to evaporation and another 0.5 gallons to trub, leaving me with 2.5 gallons going into the fermenter.
      Some grain tubes have perforations up the side which can prevent the sparge water from passing through the whole grain bed.
