I just feel like Aron Beauregard thinks that SA is just a think to make stuff scarier, either he likes writing about it (which I don't want to think about) or he's just adding it for shock value to be edgy, Is there a single book (Including sequels) he's written without SA???
Tbh many authors think that SA is the "ultimate sad thing" that can happen to a woman. To see him use it every chance he gets, I am not surprised. (Not to say SA isn't terrible, but to use it like that over and over again with no actual consequences to the characters besides a "big sad" is distasteful.)
I feel like this goes for a lot of extreme horror authors. Genuinely, I don’t think I’ve seen an extreme horror book that doesn’t contain sexual violence in at least some capacity, which is honestly kind of frustrating to me. Adding trauma of any kind in a horror book is not inherently bad, but it really seems like these authors add it in for extra shock value. Extreme horror/Splatterpunk is a genre I’m interested in due to the concept being really interesting to me, so it’s sad seeing authors just repeat the same few things to try and shock/gross out the audience
I think he probably just uses it for lazy shock value honestly. Its pretty much always framed as a thing that Evil People do in his books, even if it is cartoony and gratuitous at times. And while i cant remember if hes said anything about SA specifically, he Has done fundraisers for charities that help people experiencing domestic violence. So take from that what you will 🤷🏻♀️
Aron Bearuregard writes like he has never *actually* read anything from the splatterpunk genre and just started making things up because he thought that the genre name sounded cool.

that’s just not entirely true. does touching it and messing with it cause irritation and inflammation? Yes! To be honest I've read an old fairy tale (might have been hans christian Andersen) where a shadow comes to life, becomes more human than it's previous owner, and then comes back and hires the guy to be it's shadow. I also remember watching a horror movie where people's reflections were taking control and offing them in some pretty sick ways, like the one girl where it grabbed her upper and lower jaw and ripped them apart. Lol why does extreme horror always gotta fuck with rabbits?? You'd think using harm towards dogs and cats would be more shocking since they're more common pets, but i guess I gotta be the one person that has rabbits and is still interested in extreme horror sometimes, lol
Somebody probably already thought of this, but the closest I can come up with for the dog thing is the mutant bunnies gave him… bunny “energy”? I still feel like that’s giving Mr. Beauregard a little more credit to his process than there actually is. He strikes me as a guy who comes up with a gross or shocking scene and writes elements around that. I’m a fan of Aron but What you said about the video game reminds me of something that drives me up a wall with him. He really loves putting in references to his other works, but not in a way that is like a cute Easter egg, but more so like he’s making the damn MCU. His favorite book of mine has an epilogue that could almost be cut entirely but listening to his afterward, you find out that character was the star of one of his shorts. Like what the fuck am I supposed to do with this information? You ground this story to a halt to tease some of your other shit.

aron beauregard is like if you fed an ai a bunch of really misogynist incel fantasies and then told it to write a book, every single time.

Same lol. The tie-ins he attempts never really feel meaningful. More like they just exist as a tactic to get you to read more of his books.
The only moment I was somewhat safe here was when the New Mutants appeared.
I swear that bomb/shadows story was an old SCP
I read his books vicariously through your pain morpho
