The tool at 19:20 is a contour gauge. You use it copy a shape, often used in flooring installations.

It’s so satisfying to watch little drawers cleaned out, and getting to hear the Q&A was fun!
Uh,oh... you said Beetlejuice! It’s super popular this year- I always loved the diorama in the attic that he was trapped in originally!
I really like the idea of a “Dollhouse Clinic” - also as you were showing the art trading cards, I thought something that might be fun is using found objects to make a mini. Maybe a “things you can do with cereal boxes” (or other food packaging) kind of in the same vein of the cardboard boxes house and projects... just throwing out some ideas.

I'm very impressed with your education! I got into miniatures about 3 years ago? But last year is when I really that hooked and tested! I bought a huge doll house online that I am still working with! I learned tape wiring and everything with this thing! The bay window had a large gap and when I was trying to fix it it all fell apart. That took at least a month to fix. Now it looks good though:-)

That was a great mish mash of Q&A subjects. Nice toolbox. When I was little I always wanted a proper dollhouse. Went to the library children's section and would spend hours sitting on the floor looking at books about making dollhouses, and using common things to make miniature stuff. My husband was a construction worker and went to dollhouse shows with me. He slowed me down because he'd spend too much time talking to people making miniature houses. So he was fascinated by it too. He could have been a great asset and ally, but he liked to drink too much...
I'd like to see you do (might happen faster than I could do it if ever) something with a SECRET PASSAGEWAY and a LABORATORY. Like maybe either a fake wall with a rotating bookshelf or fireplace. I am thinking a circular floor piece centered around a wooden or metal dowel, that swivels and then the windowless secret laboratory would be filled with test tubes and beakers and other sciencey stuff. Could be Jekyl and Hyde, or frankenstein or witches or anything. I'm just really fascinated with figuring how to make that floor and wall thing work. And in my perfect version of that, there would be portraits on the wall where the EYES of the portrait could be looked through from the other side. Like the old scary movies.

I think you making your own dollhouse kit would be awesome.
I love your wooden box of drawers. I use a treasured old dresser. I have a drawer that is just for bigger tools. I have a plastic container I’m reusing (can’t remember what came in it but it snaps closed) where I keep my little hand drill in that drawer. My tool drawer is just a bit bigger than your “big drawer” and there is a regular drill, embossing tools, etc.

I did just get a little laser cut thingie. It's two rooms and an attic and is forming the basis to the witches cottage that I am trying to put together. I spent the last couple of days making a fireplace, one of the huge ones they used to have with the hooks for pans and trivet things. It looks like it's working out fine. I do have to watch what I am doing as I am easily distracted to side projects and I have spent the last couple of evenings making bedding (which is the biggest distraction but if I keep it to evening then it won't affect the rest lol!) Great video Ara! Both you and Heather Tracy are responsible for this huge diversion into 1:12th but I am really enjoying it! It's so much easier to fit into shelves etc! The third thing which is associated with the fireplace and the bedroom is the wash stand and hip bath which will require a screen as this is supposed to be before plumbing. It's a great project to start and although I have been working on contents, I am going to paper the walls and paint the structure this weekend so it will be ready to put the contents in. As you can see from this comment I go off on tangents but luckily it all leads back to the project. You think you have organisation problems!
I wish you did know what the "fun thingie" was called because something like that would be amazing for cutting stuff for odd spaces if you get what I mean. It can take just about any shape and would be perfect for flooring or wallpaper cutting.
Ooh project fatigue is a great excuse for my tangential approach to stuff! I wish I had started putting my hammer in the bottom drawer because I can't find it and that has stalled one of my mini horse tack side projects (the horses belong to the witches who own the cottage lol!).

I think mold issues have a lot to do with how you store or display your items. Mold can grow on just about anything. Paper, plastic, glass, fabric. Anywhere damp can grow mold. I live on the coast in a temperate part of Australia and have seen mold on the craziest things. People use dehumidifiers here to help prevent it in their homes.

I think the tool is called a contour gauge. Hubby got one when we were laying kitchen tile to accurately cut around a door frame..
This was a very well done Q&A. I liked watching you sort and answer questions at the same time.
My favorite gift from my husband is the one he gave me about three years after we married. My own tool box! Heavens, that was 40 years ago! He filled it with basic tools and the collection has grown since then--no pizza cutter though. Instead, I think the box cutters have reproduced. Must be at least six in there.
As for hammers, after my hubby passed away, I sold some of the tools from out garage. One young man must have bought a dozen hammers, and seven years later, I'm still finding more hammers--not including my own small collection of them. Guess a girl can't have too many hammers either.
    Thanks for sharing.

I think we might face the same hammer issue someday too...there have to be several in our garage somewhere... but for now we only know for sure where mine is😄

Is Matt Board the board that picture framers use, our local one often gives away the pieces they cut out that is the center of the picture, so can get some large pieces...and all different thickness....

    • @recoveringsoul755
      @recoveringsoul755 3 роки тому +1

I never heard that before. Strange. I always had trouble trying to cross my legs under the desk. So many sore knees. At one place I had my entire desk surface raised up in my cubicle because of that and me being tall didn't help trying to use "standard height" anything. Strollers hurt my back, kitchen counters are way too low, toilets if I'm wearing heels are impossible.

I was always the tallest girl in the class at 5'8. Not tall by todays standards but back in my days lol it was tall. I am all legs....so even though I've shrunk and am now 5'6 my legs still give me a fit. This past year I decided that I was going to build myself a desk that fit my body. Happy day!!!! I can now craft for a lot longer, but I still have to come out and swing away because just feel a bit strangled after a while....but much better then it used to be, I can sympathize with you my dad raised my kichen counters and that was so helpful. the toilet thing YES YES YES geez I understand!!!
