- A quick compare and contrast of two ergonomic office chairs: the infamous Steelcase Leap and the Neutral Posture NPS8600. I have uploaded two separate reviews of these chairs that you can find by searching my channel, but wanted to do a direct comparison for anyone who may be interested or find this helpful. I provide my thoughts on these chairs versus the others I've tried in the past, including Herman Miller Aeron, Herman Miller Embody, and the Nightingale CXO 6200HD.

First of all thank you for putting out a video on these chairs as there are very few out there that talk about the neutral posture chair. I just wanted to add a comment for an alternate personal experience. My normal work chair in my office before the pandemic and WFH is the NPS8600 and it is the most comfortable chair I've ever used. In your video you stated that it would only work for people over 5'10" and so I wanted to provide a counterpoint to that since I am 5'7" and around 260 lbs, and the chair is super comfortable for my height and weight. I point this out because I tried both the Steelcase Leap and Amia before purchasing the Amia for my home office. My biggest issue with the Leap was those bars connecting the back of the chair to the base. When seated, those bars cut into my sides and were extremely uncomfortable, so if you are a larger person, make sure you take those into account before purchasing this chair. The Amia chair is also extremely uncomfortable for me as it lacks a forward tilt and cuts into the backs of my legs, giving me terrible circulation which causes my knees and ankles to swell badly during the day. I'm actually going to get another NPS8600 for my home office, just because I can't find anything even close to fitting me personally. I will also note that the main reason the NPS chair works so well for me is that it has a forward tilt. I use it to tilt the seat pan down, taking pressure off the back of my legs. If you haven't tried that already, I would suggest giving it a shot to address the knee pain issue.

I love my Steelcase Leap. Best chair Ive ever owned. Support vs cushion-softness is always a tradeoff.

Thank you for this! I've gone through HM Embody, HM Aeron, SC Gesture, CS 3150HR... all new, all returned. I purchased a used (very beat) CXO that I was happy with but ultimately returned it due to the damage. I was on the fence with the NP Big and Tall Jr w/ pillow-top ($2700!) but I think this convinced me to go with the CXO for half the price.

I got sucked into office chair reviews a while ago, but hadn't considered the smaller companies (specifically Neutral Posture). It's interesting that you said you wanted to go for the Nightingale, because nearly everyone I've chatted with (or watched reviews of) states that the CXO's seat pan is too deep for people below 5'10 or so (I'm 5'6 myself).
So what did you get after all?

They definitely can; the prices used to make me gag, but the way I've decided to look at it is as an investment against back/neck medical issues down the road, especially since I'm in this chair for more than half of the day!
Have you found a chair you're happy with?
Not even close surely? The Neutral Posture is twice the price of the Leap and significantly more comfortable! It's not designed for small/shorter people though.

CXO may have a comfortable seat, but the backrest is terrible.
Side note. Kinda strange. Im in Germany right now. Your video pops up (among others) and it states 281k views. When I click on video, it says 60 views. Strange. Every video listed has crazy view numbers (200k up to 67million). But no matter what video you click on, they all say 60 views. Europeans ans there crazy conversions. Anyway, thought it was weird and passing it along.
That's so weird. I wonder why the number discrepancy?? I would honestly be shocked if this had 281K views 😂
