The World's Sweetheart! A great/fantastic singer ( my favorite forever!) , one of the most beautiful women on Earth, and a quality of the "girl next door" you couldn't help but fall in love with. I had a fifty-one year crush on her, and her music and singing. Women and Men all loved this very special woman, who gave so much to the world.

Olivia at her best. Hard song to sing, but she did it brilliant with strength and grace. Only she could do it like that. You will remain in our hearts forever.

I remember watching this on TV the night it was broadcast. I had already been crazy about Libby for several years and I was really looking forward to seeing her on the Parkinson show. I ran out and bought that record the following day and it’s still a firm favourite. The one outstanding memory was that little flick of her hair a few times during the performance and it stayed with me all this time. Every time I hear that song, I can visualise that flick of the hair.

      Where do you get "Libby"?
      What does that even mean?

    • @kenosull
      @kenosull 2 роки тому

@@AMEER-114- it’s a fairly commonly used variation of the name Olivia, similar in style to Betty for Elizabeth or Bob for Robert. Some people say Livvy but Libby is acceptable.

How extraordinarily beautiful is Olivia! She had great taste in picking songs that really suited her voice.

    Such an underrated vocalist.
Barely an off key note here and singing on top of a recorded track is basically like doing karaoke which is rarely flattering. She’s a killer singer.

      Shes never been underrated.

    • @alexd1121

@@Logjam5 I think as a singer she is underrated on the long run.
She’s remembered for being Sandy in Grease and for her Physical 80’s hit but only her real fans know how influential she’s really been musically crossing over genres and opening doors for Madonna, Whitney, Mariah, Beyoncé. She’s rarely mentioned next to these other legends or remembered for how stylish and beautiful her voice is.
Her Physical album cover was the influence for Madonna’s True Blue artwork, she did the first full length video album, her singing was really stellar. Her pre-Grease albums are treasures that haven’t been really introduced to newer generations like for example Streisand’s music. She’s rarely referred to as one of the greatest vocalists along with Streisand, Whitney and Mariah even though she invented these super high pitched layered harmonies and crystal near whistle singing that were total inspiration for Mariah who always credits Minnie Ripperton as influence and very occasionally Olivia but without ever getting into how influential her singing style was from the late 60’s.
Her untimely death is bringing back her immense artistic legacy which even her herself was too modest to really highlight. Just listen to Have You Ever Been Mellow, Dont Stop Believing, Jolene, Come On Over etc…it wasn’t just country music. She was a super inventive singer with stellar tone and pitch and if it were today, she’d be known as the singer with the crystal voice, 3 octaves blah blah…she’s an angel.

I think she probably holds the record for most cover songs in addition to her own songs. That voice so special. I miss her. She is my all time favorite singer.

Nothing underated about Olivia's singing/voice.. One of the world's greatest of all times; period. Male or female. She instantly became my favorite singer when I was seven, fifty-one years ago, the very first time I heard her on the car radio.

@@alexd1121 Very nice post/reply. Although almost everything is available now to listen to ( someone finally posted her on The Smothers Brothers' Show from 1975, that I have been looking for for decades ), I was fortunate to come across some Australian import c.d.s in Tower Records back in the day. I first fell in love with her voice the very first time I heard her on the car radio, back in 1971, and she has been my favorite vocalist ever since. We were driving through Portugal on a tour with my grandparents while being Americans living in Austria. We stopped at a light and I spied a small club where she would be performing. As a seven year old, I had no vote, to make us all spend the night to see and hear her. Fortunate to see her perform decades later, where I sent her a dozen roses and a card expressing my appreciation of all of her work, backstage before the show. I got to share this with my wife and daughter.

James, I remember seeing this interview on telly. It must be in the last part that Parky tells Olivia he is mesmerised by her. Can't say that I blame him.
