@@oldsmugglerflyfishing Yes! My favorite fishing experience ever--spent a month in the San Martin de Los Andes to Trevlin area. The Rio Malleo is probably my favorite river I have ever fished. I am planning to go back there for sure 🍻
Nice one at the end on the Wooly Bugger. Wishing I could get back up to the Truckee. Everywhere else is going to be too hot. Nice video. You certainly had the rig dialed in there for a while. Thanks!
Thanks Tom 🍻 This was in Idaho in case you thought it might be the Truckee, though it looked like it. Sounds like the Truckee's overnight temps on the CA side should soon be low enough to cool the river off for all day fishing soon.
@@purpledrakefishing That's hilarious, you mumbled something at the start about the Truckee. Yea, looked a little too green and more fishy than the Truckee from my experience at least. Nice job. Was beautiful. Indeed, it needs to cool down.
@@purpledrakefishing I respect that. I just want to know where the action takes place whether it's a football game or fishing. That's all. And why would any one try so hard to find the exact location to decimate the fish population... most fly fishermen i know of go flyfishing for a couple of days on vacation taking good care of fish and environment
@@JasonD-yc3oy Totally agree, just worried that out of 1 out of 100 that might watch this could have bad intentions on a fragile fishery--btw I wasn't trying to imply you were poacher or catch/keep, in case you might have thought that, I was just speaking generally
What’s the rig up? Any you’d recommend? I’m trying to learn how to euro/highstick pocket water online because I don’t live near any trout waters. I love fly fishing (and I wanna catch more in fast deep waters), so please send every last detail that you’re willing to share!
check out "modern nymphing", "modern nymphing elevated", and "adaptive fly fishing". they cover mainly euro nymphing but all of the other rigs and setups you can use for dries, dry dropper, nymphing, jig streaming, as well as stripping or swinging streamers on sink tips. that should give you everything you need to keep you busy and learning for a few years to come, at least
Sure, glad to help! A 14-16' euro leader would be perfect for pocketwater fishing. 25lb maxima 4', 20lb maxima 4', 15lb 2', 12lb 2' --- 18" sighter material --- 4-5' of fluorocarbon 4x tippet --- 2 nymphs, on a dropper system.
That river is si beautiful! Looks like a river in Patagonia, named Quillén. Great video.
Thanks OSFF 🍻 Yes, it did remind me of the Quillen!
@@purpledrakefishing have you ever fish in Patagonia?

@@purpledrakefishing Indeed, Malleo it's a fantastic river. Hope you can make it soon!

Flows looking great for late summer! I doubt this is California lol!
California is a such a mess!
Amazing fishing... it's like nonstop action. Thanks for sharing. Wish you could tell us where it was though
Thanks Jason. It isn't well known so I didn't want to bring any undue attention to potential poaching.

It’s nice to a river with running water , cannot be California
Too bad California for some reason flushed out all that water from their reservoirs from that record breaking snow year in 16/17!
