Great video guys. Best of luck to both, I'm still debating if I want to go back and try it again (if I clear waivers) but the short lived experience I had in the army was great.

Not reenlist- reclass. He didn't even mention what was allegedly offered to him here. My guess is he said he wanted to get out before even knowing what his reclass options are--- because as he says he really just wanted out to chase videography and money.
Some misinformation here: You cannot just reenlist with an honorable. It depends on your RE code and if you are granted a waiver (AND the reason you got out, SEP codes etc). And you have to find a recruiter willing to work with you. It's not that easy.
I wish the dude the best but he really should have reclassed, served his 3 years (or whatever his contract was), and sucked it up. He still could have done videography as soon as he got through that AIT. The unknown is scary though.
      So best of luck.

Hey Matt. I’ve watched all of your videos & follow you on IG. Youve got some great material. Idk if you’ll get to me. But, my niece is in boot camp right now. She’ll graduate in June. She is shy & very meek & a very religious girl. I know I’m going to get bashed on here but, she went to join the reserves & ended up enlisting for 4yrs. The army isn’t for her. She’s trying her hardest. But she’s miserable. Recruiter told her it was too late to back out. I wish I would of found you before she even left. ELS sounds good for her. But I know she would want to do the reserves. Is that truly possible? I don’t know who to believe on here. Also, when do your days start? I see that it had to be within the 180 to be able to do ELS. Also, who would she speak to to help her with this transition? Thank you for all you do on here. I know as a mom & her aunt its very time consuming. God Bless

Excellent Vid. It’s not uncommon to have many individuals get discharged in AIT for any amount of reasons. There is a time period that they will not allow you to reenlist. However, most are Honorable Discharges. Obviously in his case he wanted out, he’s pretty bright, the Army doesn’t care.

I know this is an old video but its the best I have found so far. My son just failed out of 12M during suppression and he is devastated. He and I knew he hit gold when active duty 12M popped up. Well now he is rethinking the army thing even though he joined to get a good life experience. He locked on to the firefighter gig due to the career potential, now hes telling me he is having second thoughts, I think he is really embarrassed and wants to come home. Your friend had a 1 year AIT, I think my boy was about 10 weeks in... not positive. Do you think he will get this choice? We fear hes going to be miserable when they press the MOS button. It seemed pretty strict, he was acing the exams, but he messed up knots, hose drag, and some suppression movements. He turned around and aced knots and drag. 5 fails just added up on him. Hope you respond, hes waiting to talk to HRC I believe. His sgt said he hated to lose him as my son apparently didnt show any indications he failed intentionally. 12M sounds tough as far as fails go.

I was in red phase and got sent to quarantine for 10 days, even though I tested negative, my second to last day I got re-swabbed and tested positive so they moved me to isolation 😩
So I’ve missed a total of 20 days of training and I’ve had a lot of time to think about it, I realize this isn’t for me! I had already expressed to my drills and the company commander about getting out before I got sent to the Recovery Center. So they’re aware!
I know it’ll be an ELS because I was only in my 2nd week of training, but I was wondering how long does it take to get discharged and processes out? Since it hasn’t been that long.

Only thing couldn't do was the run. Got out and been trying to come back in but the 6 months are really hard to adjust into lol. Mind you, I was in BASIC for 6m18days.. What advice do y'all have for my situation trying to reenlist? Swap branches? Thanks

    • @macburger5026
      @macburger5026 5 років тому +1

Liulfr Úlfablóð If it were possible for you to swap branches into the Air Force, if possible, just like he says at 4:04 - 4:07 of the video, I'd say *absolutely do it*. The Air Force not only has an easier PT test than the Army but they're also less harsh about their PT than the Army is.
If you passed Army AIT and you went active duty in the operational Army, regardless of your MOS or what kind of unit you got assigned to (though it would be worse with 11B, the whole Army is an infantry branch), you'd be doing mandatory group PT pretty much every day and you'd be doing heavy running every other day. Sometimes we do runs for PT wearing IOTV vests. Other times, during PT, we actually do ruck marches (all before a long rough days of work out in the motor pool). That would really hurt your body over time.
The Air Force not only has lighter PT test standards and is less harsh with their PT, *but often times the Air Force won't even make you do PT at all. They'll let you do PT on your own* instead of making you report early in the morning for group PT (which means you probably either be doing what *you want to do for PT*, that is, if you do it).
Easier on your body and you'll have more time for your body to recover in Air Force that you wouldn't get in the Army. This is all stuff that people really don't realize about the comparisons and differences between the branches until after it's too late since there's still so much you don't see online. So definitely go to the Air Force if they'll take you. Good luck.

Ok, so I'm in AIT, Currently on HBL until 3rd of January, I start class Jan 5th, but I realized this was something I ended up not wanting to continue doing, I got very homesick, anxiety kicks in more, more nervous around higher ups and drill sergeants, don't want to stay longet than I have to, afraid to fail AIT, don't want to be forcibly pushed down like I was at BCT, and I have the autism disorder. I did electronically signed a waiver for it, thought it was something I wanted to do, even through basic, but now it came to me to realize this isn't what I thought I wanted to be, and see about getting an ELS, either I should talk to a chaplain, or to my commander about, and how long it would take. Any time you're not in one of those components, you'll be in the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR), also known as the inactive reserves. You don't drill or do anything, but are subject to recall until the end of your 8-year military service obligation.

Devilsigh I know that but still 6 years on active duty in the military regardless of branch is a real long time but in the Army is probably too long of a time. Going out to the field, PT which in the Army is mandatory group PT early in the morning with the heavy runs and doing it in infantry gear, ruck marches, etc. will probably get too old real quick.

But I just reenlisted with option 3 which is reclassifying my mos to 68c, yup, I'm leaving to the new AIT for 68c in 6 months. Unlike last time, this time I've been preparing and studying LPN courses for almost 3yrs now, definitely gonna get it. Back the time I didn't get the option to get out of the army, basically they just let us know ok y'all are 88m now, there's nothing more they can do for us except send us to new AIT for 88m.

It sucks tho, I didn't except this at all when I first signed my contract. But I did get lots experience that how the combat arms units work and how the supporting units work, as far as I went thru, I did training with 75th before just kinda being a grunt and trained by them and did training operation with them, and also gone thru airborne and air assault school, bunch of other military school, went to NTC couple of times, and other training center as well. These are some experiences that majority of people as 68c or generally being a medic other than 68w are not gonna get to do. And yes I don't like to drive a huge truck but u know what , I can pretty much operate majority of vehicles in the army now, I even got my bus driver license.
