E-sims are the go these days. So much easier than having to replace a physical sim and they work brilliantly. If you are travelling several SE Asian countries they switch between providers. You can buy before you get to the country you first visit and then activate upon arrival. I’ll never buy a physical sim again when travelling.
I just got a $6 1gb eSim for a week or $12 3gb eSim for a month. More than enough for casual use while out and about. Your mate looks cheap for bigger plans though.
We got a sim card through Ketut last year and will do it again this year when we're back in August. Happy to do it just so we can donate a bag of rice. We may not use all the 35 or 40GB but its better than spending $10 per day for roaming. Definitely worth it. Another great video Muzza.
I find I need my own internet access while I'm in Bali. I frequently travel to Thailand and have a postpaid sim. I can pay an additional fee and switch this to Indonesia for a very low rate. Vodafone is ridiculously expensive. I'm in Bali in just over a week - and I'll be paying the new tourist tax. I love that you and a cold Bintang are never far apart!
I'm in a similar situation -- long term stay in Thailand, with a 7-10 day side trip to Bali, then returning to Thailand. In this situation, would you recommend purchasing a sim card for the short time I'm in Bali, or look to have the service transfered to Indonesia? ...and, moreover, how does one go about doing that?
Hi Murray, thanks for all the informative videos❤❤❤ Kindly explain🙏🏼 the ++ at the end of prices... what is it? is the plus plus only added at the end of a bill on already included in the price?
I don’t feel like you need one as I went over and wifi is free everywhere and I go to Bali often and I do not ever need it. It’s good to be away from phones and having time without technology. Just relax and try and have time to you and use the motels wifi. Enjoy your time.
The trouble with me, with my sight disability I'm not able to put the sim card in the mobile phone, so unfortunately through my Telstra Phone, I'll have to use my Global Roaming.
$15 local SIM card works while you are in a taxi moving and you know the taxi driver is not taking you to the airport but to Lovina. turn the volume up you should see the driver turn around when Google map makes the bad sound dunk dunk for redirecting
Thany you Monica for such great info and another video. This is out side the square but muzza knows me and this is important. They took pancakes off my favourite cafe in Druparti Street Seminyak . Do you guys have a favourite place for caramelised banana pancakes . I think Monica would be the best Judge 🎉🎉😂😂 🥞 😋
Isnt it illegal to change the imei of a phone ... like changeing the vin number on a vehicle .... should be no need to change the imei unless someone was not putting in a way to backdoor your data .... 🤔 ....
Thanks Muzza, nobody has ever explained Pulsa, not every aussie can phone who they have to on Wattsapp.....Pulsa is a mystery...could you explain it if possible...particularly the fact that the SIM card sellers cannot provide it.
All iPhone 15 models have slot for a physical nano SIM and have dual eSIM support. So what was said starting from 6m55s into the video is not correct. Someone may have told you a furphy there Muzza! Otherwise good advice as eSIMs can't be beat for convenience when travelling. I look forward to buying my eSIM from Ketut when I next visit Bali. SIM cards are always less expensive away from the airport.
yes cheaper to get a SIM card however if your using your phone for say work and calling people (not on W.App) who would not recognize or answer an unknown number then easier to go with a roaming package...cheap. 1GB a day and lots of calling time.
good advice Muzz ! i'll be getting a sim this year, even if just for scooter taxis grab gojek .. thought i was smart other years just approaching them side of the road ir wave rm down.. like last year we agreed on a price he had a nice green jacket on.. we get to the destinaion he quadruple the price wants to have a scrap makes a big scene then sone locals come over i pay a bit more than agreed (coz this individual's psycho) but they tell me the scooter guy is a gangster hes not grab gojek just has a green jacket, motor scooter mafia. That wont happen if we're on the app
So apon futher investigation, what your mate is doing is registering the IMEI number as all imei numbers now are required to be registered in Indonesia as there becoming worse than strayla and it all ties into the credit system but thats another story .... He will register the IMEI and link it to your passport and therefore all internet traffic via that IMEI # is then connected to the relevent passport and you can get the picture .... Thanks muzza and will be into old mate next week 👍
changing planes all-in-one day Telstra charged me $15 to enter Spain then $15 to enter France then $15 to enter Italy then all roaming $$ they are not on your side
If your phone is from overseas EG not from Indonesia your phone will not work there is 2 Options 1 you need a Sim card that is a tourist Sim card which is up to 3 mounths , if your going to be longer than that you need to unlock your phone at the Airport with the goverment.

Just spent 2 weeks in hong kong. Bought a sim card at the airport. No issues with big bills. I suggest a local sim card whatever the country you visit

Great advice.
Love how you already know who is local and reputable.
I've been living here a few years now

Thanks Muzz. We sought out KW Tours to get our SIM. Excellent service & works perfectly in Lombok.

My Vodafone is 5 bucks a day extra not that bad I reckon

@@gumbie007gumbie007 Yes on top of your nomral account fee its $5.00 extra a day. If you go over your data limit its an additional $5.00 per one GB
I normally gt a sim card when in Indonesia.... Heading to Jakarta next weekend and will b trying an esim this trip to c how it goes
Hi Murray, thanks for all the informative videos❤❤❤ Kindly explain🙏🏼 the ++ at the end of prices... what is it? is the plus plus only added at the end of a bill on already included in the price?
The plus plus is service charge (which goes to the staff theoretically) and sales tax

Keep up the good work muz, and thank you for the tips and tricks for a hassel free holiday to bali

Awesome information mate will be over there soon and will get 2 sims there for sure.
Useful information Muzza 👍
I get by on wifi over there 😊
Same here, wifi is available everywhere. There is no need for local sim cards while on holiday.
Great Video thanks Muzza, heading over in 5 weeks so will take my group of 10 to see katut and send some rice to the village yay.
Would love to buy 2 sims from Ketut and support local but we are situated in sidemen. Do you know any places over there?

Thany you Monica for such great info and another video.

Hey Muzza
What’s the name of the business that Katut runs as I’d like to support him and the locals.
kw tours in Jl Legian, Kuta
Ketuts 🛌 just behind the desk 😅😅 each time I went to see him he's always sleeping 😴 😅
Isnt it illegal to change the imei of a phone ... like changeing the vin number on a vehicle .... should be no need to change the imei unless someone was not putting in a way to backdoor your data .... 🤔 ....
Will ketut come to nusa dua to our hotel to do esim?
Thanks Muzza, nobody has ever explained Pulsa, not every aussie can phone who they have to on Wattsapp.....Pulsa is a mystery...could you explain it if possible...particularly the fact that the SIM card sellers cannot provide it.
Never heard of Pulsa sorry
Pulsa means credit
How long for 10 days Muzza 😮

Do any of them offer unlimited data?
Not that I'm aware of
I just used my Optus roaming when needed @ $5 a day which you can turn on or off as needed and the rest of the time the free wifi which is every where
yes cheaper to get a SIM card however if your using your phone for say work and calling people (not on W.App) who would not recognize or answer an unknown number then easier to go with a roaming package...cheap. 1GB a day and lots of calling time.
Is there a cost to register IMEI?
No

What about a Wifi
Only good for the hotel
changing planes all-in-one day Telstra charged me $15 to enter Spain then $15 to enter France then $15 to enter Italy then all roaming $$ they are not on your side
I'm with Vodafone
5 bux aday extra on roaming.
Telecom is $10
Wow, that works out very expensive.
@claytonwhite7956 yep I only turn on my oz phone every now and then, I use the wife's and kids phone in lovina telkomsel and smartfriend sims
$5 Optus
They just scam me on sim card and charged me 1M instead of 450000
Went to the wrong place then. Sim at kw tours is only 250,000
Unless you are in the middle of nowhere, you don't really need a sim card as all hotels, bars, restaurants etc have wifi.
I'm with Vodafone so my roaming is only 5 bucks a day and I just use my usual data and no extra costs
Like muzza says , best place to get sim is at KW TOURS , cheap and simple af 🍻
