    About time another advert like that was put up again by a TAC in Australia. TAC Vic had Doohan doing one back in 2015 about safety gear. Here in SA, and likely other states, there was one that would come up before movies at the cinema with a rider going down and it talking about safety gear, think that was also TAC Vic.
    As a motorcyclist, now self-retired from riding due to medical reasons because I dont want to become a statistic and leave some driver/family out there think they are to blame for it. I wont fully go into only to say apnea is involved.
    I always shake my head when I see idiots on bikes wearing shorts and sandals, or even a t-shirt and jeans. When I got my bike at 17, the first thing I did was buy leathers and decent boots, and believe me, they saved me twice from road rash injuries.

    The UA-camr Fortnine once said, if you have a $5,000 budget for a bike, buy the best gear you possibly can, and then spend the $2-3,000 left over on the bike. It’s so vitally important to have AT LEAST a really good helmet, gloves and boots, and then a really good jacket and pants. You’ll be saving more than what you spent on gear in hospital bills or time off work to heal, it’s just not worth not having it. And if you say you can’t afford the gear, then honestly you shouldn’t be riding or have a motorcycle. What if you had to buy the windshield and doors and airbag for your car? I think it’d be worth the money then. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

    Went down doing 30 mph on a curve, new rider, and yeah legs were the only thing not properly protected and I ended up with a pretty deep wound on my leg. Gear only does so much, I broke my fibula and clavicle even with gear.

    • @Gabriel-yd4bq
      @Gabriel-yd4bq 7 місяців тому

      Depending on what speed and what rating your gear has it might only protect from road rash at a certain speed and not protect from blunt force. Some jackets do have stiffer protections that def help with broken bones, though they're more expensive and stiff

    My uncle lost his leg because he simply fell with his bike while he was standing at a red light. He lost his balance and fell, the bike fell on his bare leg - he wore shorts - and the engine was really, really hot. He was alone and it took about 15-20 minutes until another vehicle pulled up to the scene and the owner was able to lift the bike of my uncles leg. The burns were so bad, that they had to amputate leg. If he would have worn his protective gear this would’ve never happened; he wouldn’t have lost his leg for the simplicity of an unbalance while making a stop….

    All that matters is a good pair of boots, pants and gloves. A good riding jacket can be used, but the gloves alone could compensate for most of the damage.

      Only if you're a cat and you ALWAYS land on your 4 legs :) I'd rather skip pants than jacket... Good proper jacket is easiest to buy, easiest to wear. Even at highest temps you can find dedicated cooling jacket which will give you proper heat control and comfort.

    Покупайте экип в первую очередь !!! Обычно пока серьезно не упадешь не поймёшь насколько важна экипировка. Как то упал в дождь , из за того что передавил передний тормоз , ехал где то 80 к моменту падения отормозился до 60 . Чудом ничего не сломал и не влетел по рядом едущую машину ,обошлось все ушибами локтя и бедра . По мимо экипа учитесь правильно тормозить ! Даже на мотоциклах с ABS .
