I've been homeless from Mobile Alabama to Long Beach California. I've been there. But I didn't give up hope and I thank God for the people who were willing to believe in me and gave me the opportunity to work and prove my worthiness. But I see so many who have given up and have no direction and no confidence in themselves or the system that failed so many. The homeless who have children are priority one, because the children are so important. Maybe open FEMA camps with educational programs that would familiarize some of them with skills they could use to join the ranks of the working groups. But don't give up because every day is an opportunity to pull yourself up. Believe in a probable way not an impossible way. It won't happen over night but it will happen. Life is not a piece of cake but the harder you work the more you appreciate what you have. Don't look for handouts but look for hand ups.
Invisible People is a youtube channel founded by a formerly homeless man. It brings light to the story of each individual homeless person. It is a nonprofit, run by homeless people advocating for the homeless. We can advocate for housing that's affordable, mental and healthcare to keep people off the street.
You would think, with so many wealthy people in this country who wouldn’t be wealthy if they didn’t live in America would give back & build housing for the homeless.
Me, 2003-2008. I was "gifted" a 2nd chance by an organization called "The Carpenter's Place" of which was made up of some of the most caring and sincerely devoted people that I had never expected to cross paths with! They are honestly and truly responsible to have saved my life. Rockford, IL. Everyone stay healthy and safe! Pax
From a photographer, this is messed up. Not the photos themselves but the process. If you really are interested in talking to homeless people why not go out there WITHOUT a camera, and maybe help them more than 10 bucks? Feels like a little girl talking about animals ina zoo
Sort of like a "new and improved" version of David Isay's photograph book "Flophouse: Life on the Bowery" from 2001. A two decades later revisit of what will likely never end...well, at least until we are all changed, (if you get my drift).
ugh! so many abandoned buildings and homes! Why can't we retrofit all these eyesores into hope? Many of these have been taken over by the cities. The homeless could even in many cases learn a trade during the process and have pride in their new homes! But no...instead we leave them empty and abandoned to become areas of high crime and more punishment for the unfortunate homeless. Well, we need to wake up and do something, as we are now about to have 20-40 million homeless! Not a mile from me, there is a new homeless camp. And though all the neighbors gathered supplies and such and the police have been helping, we need to do something! Winter is nearly here! Why is America so fraught with so much ineptitude??? A place to call home, some badly needed services? How hard is that? Everyone says, too expensive, and yet, what does it cost to police? what does the resulting healthcare cost? what about the kids?
How can such a wealthy country that has so much do so little for those who have nothing? Sadly there is always money for bailouts, foreign countries & war but little to give to our fellow Americans who so desperately need assistance.
Amazon's Jeff Bezos worth $205.6 billion US. One person. If he really cared about people he would make affordable housing units and heck put his name on them.🙄
NO! Do a story about actual realities of homelessness not some non sense romanticize version. From L.A I can tell you some homeless ppl prefer to be homeless b/c they don't want responsibilities, some are selfish wasting food & clothes that's given to them, some lie about mental illness so they can get disability checks to support their drug habit. These ppl rely on everyone else pity to continue doing what they have been doing, which is being a plague on society. Homeless ppl are walking infections b/c they have higher cases of HIV, AIDS, TB, MEASELS, TYPHOID, HEPATITIS, LICE, these ppl roam around in parks for cell service, poop on the streets or on the beach were they bathe. MId Western states have trafficked their mental ill, their drug addicts, their criminals into C.A, just dumped them here for us to deal with. Us everyday 9-5 ers . I guarantee you, that girl paid them to take their picture, continuing societal destruction .
While I agree that not every homeless person is nice (it's not easy to be nice when you're homeless), there are countless people on the streets because they lost their source of income when they were laid off and couldn't find sufficient funds to pay for their rent or mortgage. Not everyone has family to fall back on, or access to money somewhere.
Some are like that but for every one of those there is at least one who just ended up in a bad way. Remember, most Americans live paycheck to paycheck. All it takes is an emergency or a lost job and you're done.

Problem is they wouldn't want the housing built near their homes.

It's so great that she's able to profit and make a living from homeless people. What are you where are we living.
Watch the video. They said profits go to help the homeless.

Sad profiting off Homeless people
As stated in the video, all proceeds are donated to organizations that help the homeless.
