I've been wanting to play the regular version of Overboss for a while, I'm wondering how this one compares to just doing the regular game at 2 players? Do you think having everything on the same board adds enough to warrant picking up Duel over the regular version if I could only get 1? Granted the regular version supports solo and more than 2 so maybe it is the better value... what do you guys think?
It’s a great question, I honestly think this is a whole different experience, as the competitive tile placement you’re always balancing what you’re doing to support yourself and to diminish the value of your opponents side. I think the value stands out in the cross comparability, the fact that many of the components are cross compatible enhances the Overboss experience but also ties in and creates variety and customizability for Duel. My recommendation would be to start off with Overboss, if you enjoy the game, adding Overboss Duel would be the next logical step.
I'm having trouble understanding the Heroes. By what mechanism can I place a miniboss over a hero to 'slay' it? It doesn't seem like any tile effect allows me to just place another tile over the top. Or can I just place the token ) miniboss over the top of a Hero anytime I acquire it?
Hello! When you acquire a miniboss token you may place it over a hero to slay it! You can also place a monster over a hero to slay it if it creates a band or is a matching monster of the terrain type the hero is on 🥰 Let me know if that helps

So, I guess my question is - can you place those tokens at any point during your turn, treating a hero-occupied tile almost like an empty tile that you can fill with a monster/miniboss token? As an example: If I pull a Spawning pool tile and draw an extra token from the bag to my lair - at that point could that extra token be used to fill on top of a hero-occupied tile? (presuming it meets the matching monster/band/miniboss criteria you described).

If you have any monster tokens in your lair they have to be placed on the map on your turn if there is an empty space. So yes!
Did you not get the Void tileset when you got this?
The void tile set was a promo for pre-order I believe, this was an early copy of the game provided to make this video so no void unfortunately.
