Thanks Farmboy! I live in Rhode island, (Yankee!), but regularly visit my brother in Roswell, Ga. and my fishing partner down in Hogansville, Ga. twice a year. I love the south! The weather, the people, the friendship, and the "reasonable" housing with land. Up here you spend $300,000 for a house that needs major work, and comes with a $8,000 property tax bill every year!
I'm not that far from Hogansville, so you fish at West Point? I have a sister-in-law that lives in New Jersey so I know what you're talking about when it comes to homes up north.
Hi Jay, I really like that massey ferguson hay rake that you have. It really does a good job of raking hay. I like massey ferguson farm equipment. I just bought a massey ferguson 1155 tractor. It's really nice. Nice video Jay. Can't wait until your next video to see you bale the hay. Pete
I never thought of that)))) I will get 2 belts. I will modify the first as the one that broke, then, when I repaint the rake, I will put on the continuous belt
Great video, thanks for sharing! I've got the same rake, though I run it on a Massey 135 tractor with ground speed PTO. Is this rake designed to run at a lower rpm (with groundspeed PTO on a tractor that has it)? Whenever I've tried to run it on live PTO, even slowing it way down from 540 it feels like it's trying to shake itself apart. How has yours been?
I would assume that it should be ran at 540, but I don't run it that fast. It does seem to do better at faster speeds than slower speeds however. Mine does not vibrate excessively but sometimes one of the rake tines will get bent and start hitting the guide which makes a racket.

Nice update farmboy! I always love your farm video's!!
Thanks for watching!

Thanks Pete. I didn't video the baling because the hay was so light. I only got 3 rolls off of 3 acres!
Doin a fine job. That Massey may be a keeper.
Thanks John. It's been a good one so far. Hopefully the gearbox will stay together now.

My rake takes a strip of belt with fasteners. I would have to cut a continuous belt in two and modify it
Is that what you had to do?
No, but I did have to take all the bars off to get it on the pulley
What would happen if you double rake making the rows thicker
I usually do that in thin grass. If it's too thick, the baler will have a hard time with it.
Was the belt you got from dealer a continuous belt, or strip with attachments at the ends?
It's a continuous belt like a fan belt

@WindrowFarmer
YES
This MF rake is designed around a tractor with a ground speed PTO option
Running it at 540 is CRAZY fast, for these old girls...
do u usually get 4 cuttings in georgia? here in NC we usually only get 3
Where do you find a drive belt for one of those rakes
My local Massey Ferguson dealer. Be sure to have your serial number when you go or call.
My rake is different than yours. Mine is Ferguson gray and different circles /stars. It might be earlier model
Enjoyed the video Farmboy! What state are you in? Sorry for my ignorance in not knowing.
Georgia, glad you liked it.
