Having watched so many episodes of Bombay Journey, I don’t think I have seen any other actor/actress be so down to earth and chill! 'No Smoking' is my favourite Anurag Kashyap and John Abraham film. Nothing comes close when it comes to the sheer ambition, treatment, ingenuity and narrative scope. I believe 'No Smoking' is much more relevant today, under the current regime. It came way ahead of its time, and naturally, a minuscule part of filmgoing audience was ready for such an experiment: starring a leading man of commercial films. The inside jokes, the allegorical tone, the scathing political commentary, the odes to the masters of such films, the ambience, the music, and John as the protagonist collectively work wonders. And the cinematography. Special mention to Ranbir Shorey as Abbas Tyrewala. Uff.
