    This is my third year opening my pool and I still watch videos like this to refresh the process before I start, so thank you for posting this!

    The unit heats up fast and is super quiet. It looks fancy ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxl8Od2BvnGbn1ffwqsuFXW0QnmcZgMiVY and can be kept in the living room. It gets hot within a split second of turning on the unit. The build quality is exceptionally good and is safe to be around kids and pets. This one is super quiet and can be kept on while in office meetings, my wife loved it. It shows the temperature right on the unit which is very useful and adding a rotating feature helps to heat up the surrounding, so other people will not fight with you for heat. It is right as described in the description..!! Definitely recommend!!

    YOOO I’ve been waiting for this one!! Headed out to open my pool right now. So glad I don’t have to pay the sketchy pool guy $500 to do it. This video is a god send

    This is the best video I've seen for a beginner. I just bought a home with a salt water pool. Is the process basically the same?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  4 місяці тому +1

      Yes it is similar besides making sure your salt cell is hooked up, clean and your salt levels in your water are at the right levels

    This is great info. I have been hiring someone to close the pool for winter and open in spring but this time I have to do it myself. I have done a lot of research and I now feel confident that I can do it; your videos have given me that confidence. Thanks. There is only one thing I am still not so sure about - my pool heater (Hayward) does not seem to have any drain valve. Am I missing something?

    Great video. Opened pool but having an issue with air bubbles coming out of return lines. Any help/tips to find where leaks are?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks and you probably have a suction side leak on your pump if you got air in your pump itself also. I normally will run a garden hose and water over each fitting on the front side of the pump until I see the air clear up in my pump. If you cant get your pump room really wet check out my air bubbles in pump video!

  • @em13thirteen
    @em13thirteen Рік тому +5

    Make sure your pool pump lid is tight when taking the skimmer plug out . If the pump is down hill and the lid is open , you might get water pouring out, also make sure the pump plugs are in

    Great video!! What is the best way to get the water off a clip-on cover. Any tricks??

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  2 роки тому +4

      Thanks and if it's a tarp style cover I just use a sump pump if there's leaves I put a sump pump in a milk crate or a bucket with a bunch of wholes drilled through it to keep the debris from clogging up my pump.

    Do you know if Hayward cartridge filters have a pressure gauge??? All filters should have a pressure gauge, correct? And it can be any water pressure gauge bought at the big box store?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  2 роки тому +5

      Yes all filters should have a pressure gauge of some style and yes as long as it is rated for water. I also have links in the description box of my video about changing a pool pressure switch to help.

    • @FixItWithMe
      @FixItWithMe 2 роки тому +1

      If I have a raised attached spa, then is the pressure different when I switch from “pool mode” to “spa mode”? My pressure gauge reads 12 psi under pool mode, but when I switch it to spa mode, it reads 18 psi. When I switch back to pool mode, it goes back to 12 psi. Is there a reason for this?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  2 роки тому +2

      Different size and number of return jets going to the spa and pool will change the amount of pressure between the two. This is normal

    What are the steps if u want to pump out the water then use fresh water?

    • @Codylight-vi4lm
      @Codylight-vi4lm 6 місяців тому +1

      Turn off pump
      Turn multiport valve to 'waste' Turn pump back on
      Make sure skimmer valve is closed so it's pulling water from the main drain at bottom of pool as you don't want it sucking in air once pool level drops below your skimmer hole👍

    What if there is marine antifreeze in my return lines? Do I do something to get it out first?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  Рік тому +8

      Hello Craig you can just let it go into the pool. The marine antifreeze is mostly just alcohol that will evaporate off the water and the red or blue dye will not do anything to the volume of water of your pool. It's safe.

    • @acidj4zz
      @acidj4zz Рік тому +3

      You can also suck it out with a shop vac.

    Do I remove the skimmer basket when vacuuming to waste

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  2 роки тому +2

      If you don't have the vacuum attachment that fits over the skimmer basket the yes remove the skimmer basket. Just make sure you don't suck up big clumps of leaves and debris to fast being it could clog your skimmer line so take it easy

    If my water level is lower than the skimmer, do i add water before pur ing on the pump?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  5 місяців тому +2

      Yes water should be in the middle of skimmer or about halfway up it

    What do u do to get the antifreeze u poured down lines out? Do u unplug the the jets and let water drain in pool?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  Рік тому +4

      Yes just unplug everything and it's OK for the antifreeze to drain into pool.

  • @corychristensen1654

    Do all pool skimmers have 2 plugs ?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  2 роки тому +2

      Not all, some of the older residential pools still have the single hole skimmers. Most pools of this century though do have the two hole option for secondary drain line hookup or to run straight to the pool as an equalizer in case the water gets to low on the skimmer.

    Was the algaecide even necessary opening my pool this weekend for the first time?

    • @Poolelementary
      @Poolelementary  5 місяців тому +1

      Algaecide is more for backup if anything. If you use the proper dose of chlorine you shouldn't need a Algaecide at all.

      He probably had a leak in the tarp and water got through or some leaves were still in the pool when he closed it down and the organic matter just settled in. Used to be a huge problem for me before a tornado ripped my tree down and I had to cut it down.
