Would be cool if you could inject audio into that LM386 amp chip and have this device play music. I have an old metal detector that doesn't work and I'm going to try tapping the audio amp and make it play music.
One of the earliest uses for a 386 amp I can remember was using one to make a headphone amplifier for a friend. He wanted the music louder than his tape player would output, so I made him a little box that housed a 9V battery along with the circuit. It had a headphone cable on one side that would connect to the tape player headphone output, and then a headphone jack on the box with a combo potentiometer/switch that he could use to adjust the volume.
