    You definitely have my attention here Lyn!!! I love this plant of yours!!! You know, there are certain plants you look at and say...OHHH!!! LOOK AT THIS ONE!!!! This is one of those plants!!! I love the form of your plant!!! I have this exact horrida variety!!! I believe this is Euphorbia horrida var. striata. Note the striping along the sides of the ribs of the plant. And lots of thorns!! My plant started as a single head I bought at the Los Angeles County arboretum at the one and only cactus and succulents show I've ever been to back in 1984! It grew into multiple heads. But then a few years ago the main original head just dried up and died. All its offsets replaced it and are quite large now. Has a few smaller ones also. But I just love the form, shape of your plant!!!! Outstanding!!! Congrats on raising this beautiful horrida!!! Thanks very much for sharing this plant and your great info on this plant!!! Well done Lyn!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, to across the emerald isle, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!!✌️💖🌵🌷🌴🌸🌿🌻🍀🌾💐🌱🌹🌳🪴😃👍

    What a gorgeous euphorbia! I love all euphorbia plants! I have overwatered my suzannae & the stems are looking a bit brown & slightly soft. I’ve took it out it’s soil & removed all roots(rotted) the plant isn’t too squishy…in your experience will it recover or just die? Thanks I’m advance xxx

    • @desertplantsofavalon
      @desertplantsofavalon  10 місяців тому

      So happy you love Euphorbias too, oh no so sorry to hear about your Euphorbia suzannea, the good news is its still very possible your plant can recover especially if the plant itself has not rotted, its best to leave the plant unpotted for a few days and keep an eye on how your plants gets on, if the plant is rotting you will see the plant die back pretty quick and it will be too late to save it, but fingers crossed after a few days if all looks well you will be able to plan tit back up into well draining soil and your suzannae will re root itself again, once potted up keep more on the dry side for the first couple of months, and just water the first inch of the top of the soil and then wait till the soil has dried out fully before watering the top inch of the soil, this will help to encourage rooting, once your plant has re rooted you can water as normal, good luck with your suzannae and thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful Wednesday XXXX

    You suggest seperating cactus into individual pots to avoid spines damaging each other however i notice some of yours are in clumps of more than one? And to be honest i like three or more tall column cacti in one pot. So any tips on this ? Just found your site, im a novice so excited to watch more of your great vids. Many thanks 😊

      So happy you found my channel, I love to have some of the cacti all in the same pot, but I do like to separate any of the clumping cacti that have the spines that may damage the other cacti if they are growing too close to each other, but if the spines are soft or not growing into each other I love to leave them on the cactus, some of the cactus pups grow around the base and can be left on the cactus, if your tall column cacti are not growing into each other with the spines then the good news is you can still Keep them in the same pot if they have room around them, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a terrific Tuesday XXXX

      Hi Michelle, propagating Euphorbias can be a bit trickier than cacti due to the milky sap they give off when being cut, if you check out my wonderful friend Clyde Morris here on You Tube he is a Euphorbia expert, his channel is called 'Morris Park in the Ozarks' Clyde has amazing videos on Euphorbias and propagating them etc, I can really recommend Clyde's channel, thanks so much for watching and for your wonderful comment and support and wishing you a fantastic plant powered Tuesday XXXX

    I have one with pups but I'm afraid to remove them for it may damage the plant

      Thats fantastic you have this Euphorbia with lots of pups too, I like to leave them on the Mother plant as the pups can be tricky to remove with the sap that Euphorbia produce, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a wonderful Wednesday XXXX

    I didn't know the meaning of "horrida".
    In spanish "horrida" is defined as something (femenin)that provokes horror. 😂
