Has anyone used both lenses please. I got the G2 Tamron 15 - 30 and just love the build quality. The Canon 100mm arrived today and I was just going to return it because I just didn’t like how that long thin lens felt against my camera. Then I put the lens on and tested it - the image was just beautiful. I don’t think I can get myself to return it now but I’m guessing I will prefer the 90mm for portrait / macro over the longer 100mm. Can someone that has used both PLEASE let me know. If you are able to get both at similar price - will you be ok getting the Tamron 90 macro or is it the canon? Why? Thanks
Any macro lens will change effective f stop when racked out to 1:1. Light loses energy as it travels through space. Look up 'bellows extension factor' - light loss is inevitable as the lens to focal plane distance increases.
This is the AF version and not the 52BB (Manual) Tamron 90mm f2.5? Am I right? Because in my book, Macro is Manual and I don't see why I should pay for something the I don't use. Wish I could find a good review on YT to compare the 2 versions Tammy has on it. That is 52B vs 52BB. If anyone knows a review, please leave me a link.
Hi, great review, I just bought it and I really enjoy it. One con I should mention though, it is « aperture variable », i.e you will not get 2.8...that is common with macro lenses. Otherwise it is a great lens.👍
That's actually a factor I'm going to point out about this lens, when you focus down close the apature changes to 5.6 at 1:1 which to be frank I never use because of the depth of field you want close up needs as much in focus as possible. I've got the latest version and am extremely happy with the performance.
Good question. Yes. And moreover, I actively disliked the previous versions of this lens. I found them slow and lower quality. But the most recent version is a pleasure to shoot with.
@@CameraLessonsOnline I bought this too for Nikon d750.. I am a but concerned about its auto focus system. Also, have you thought about buying extension tubes?

No it does not retain 2.8 at 1:1 ratio.
Why does this video look like it was filmed in the 90s?
