  • Hey there,
    In this video I outline my experience as an RV owner on RVSHARE. I talked about my first rental, payment breakdown, and damage to my brand new RV. RVSHARE is a website where RV/travel trailer owners can list their vehicles to rent out. Check out my review video from the owners perspective.

      5:30 can you tell me more about this additional fee? Is it through RV Share? I have a policy with Progressive for mine, but it specifically states it's not active when renting on RVShare or similar

    • @Jeffreviews4u

      That fee is requiring the renter to pay a daily insurance rate (this is actually paid to the insurance company but is not required on RVSHARE)

    I would let RV share rent out for me since they do all the paper work and back ground of legit people using it without any problems . I feel more secure . I think people should be able to bring there own insurance to the table but you need proof because people will always try to scam you or make fake paperwork

We sold our RV years ago and don't want to buy one again but since we're retired now, maybe a rental RV is just what we might need. Great video, thanks again. Ok, we rented an RV from here and I gotta say, they need to have some baseline rules for owners. The trash can still had trash in it, there was random garbage around it, and in the overhead area there was a dirty solo cup and random rummikub pieces

      I’ve used rvshare, I looked at this way if I rent a toy hauler for the dunes at 130 a night for a week I’m in about a thousand. If I did that twice a year for 10 years I’m in 20k, I’ll be using a newer one probably every year, and if I bought one for 50k 10 years ago the thing is probably worth 20k at that point. On the plus side i don’t have have to worry about maintenance and other problems rvs could have.

    • @Jeffreviews4u
      @Jeffreviews4u  4 роки тому +5

      Let me start by saying that I have had really good renters and aside from the first renter scratching the side of the RV I have not had any troubles. However. I have heard from others on the RVSHARE facebook page that have had difficulty. I learned that most insurance policies dont cover damage to the inside of the unit (if someone accidentally rips or burns something etc). I would set my deposit at 1,000 or 1,500 so you're covered. It has been a lot of fun. That being said sometimes I vet the renters (and have turned some down) if I didnt feel comfortable. Hope this helps and good luck.

      You will not make much net profit doing this. It is not simple, quick, or easy. I have done it and I know many others as well. For many, it's just not worth the work you will have to dedicate to it. And there's a good bit of "work" involved to do this right. Especially if you are already a busy person with a family, etc. This is more for people who have lots of free time, no young kids, not many jobs/projects/tasks to constantly do at home, etc.

    • @Jeffreviews4u
      @Jeffreviews4u  4 роки тому +1

      It's really an owners preference. Mileage is the quickest way to depreciate the RV. Owners typically charge a mileage rate over the 100 miles per day.

    • @Jeffreviews4u
      @Jeffreviews4u  4 роки тому +1

      I guess it's possible that an owner cancels a rental for one reason or another...in that case you get a refund. typically orders aren't cancelled unless there is damage from a previous rental.

  • @hippohhua
    @hippohhua 4 роки тому +1

    Does the insurance pay for the renter”s damage? Feel like u are saying u have to pay out of your pocket to fix the damage which is not true. Unless u did not take before and after photo of each angle of rv which made not able to file claim. I think only thing it does not cover is lost potential revenue when rv sits in shop for repair. Which in peak season can be painful.

    • @Jeffreviews4u
      @Jeffreviews4u  4 роки тому +2

    Great video, so all-in-all, how much profit, on average, would you say you make a month on this single RV by renting it out? $1000/month, $2000/month? more....appreciate your feedback

    • @Jeffreviews4u
      @Jeffreviews4u  4 роки тому +1

      I can't even count how much money I make....just kidding....I am pretty particular when it comes to renting my RV. I typically go with experienced RV drivers and I only rent a week at a time. I average 1 - 2 weeks per month of rental...that being said I also invest many hours prepping, cleaning, maintaining, and servicing the unit to make sure it is in tip top shape.

      They say it's like owning real estate...location, location, location. I have seen other RV owners rent their RV out nearly every week - in those instances it looks like you could make money. Where I live there is less of a demand and a lot of renters. I do it to off set the cost and I think it's fun. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    • @HorsepowerHouse
      @HorsepowerHouse 4 роки тому +3

      Most don't "really" make money doing it (meaning net profit,) BUT it basically pays for your RV. So you have a "Free" RV that others pay for. But it also gets wear & tear, excessive maintenance needs, things get broken, worn, lost, stolen, etc etc. You have to be available to your tenants incase they have questions, problems, etc (while they are gone in your RV). So, it's not like you just sit back, kick your feet up, and bask in money. You also have to be ready to send the RV off, receive it back, spend an hour each time (minimum) going over everything. So, you won't become some rich guy by renting yours out. But it's probably better than you having to constantly pay some storage facility to keep yours there - or piss off your neighbors or HOA that you have this huge vehicle sitting in your driveway many months of the year. OR the issues that constantly sitting out in the hot sun cause on your RV. So, choose your poison...

    • @HorsepowerHouse
      @HorsepowerHouse 4 роки тому +1

      I would also say if you are a busy person, this is probably not ideal for you. Because this takes quite a bit of time, effort to do properly. Been there, done that. But if you aren't all that busy in your life - give it a try. Make sure your RV is newer though. The older ones don't rent out much (especially for the price you need to make it worth your while.)

    • @Jeffreviews4u
      @Jeffreviews4u  4 роки тому +3

      I agree with Horsepower House. My thought is each rental pays down the RV, in 4 years when the warranty runs out I'll trade it in for a new one (with a lot more equity than if I just made the payments).

    • @HorsepowerHouse
      @HorsepowerHouse 4 роки тому +1

      @@Jeffreviews4u And the extra wear / tear / damage / maintenance / cleaning you will need to do will make yours worth far less when it's time to sell/trade yours in. (My time is very valuable and precious.) Many sellers STATE in their ad that theirs was never rented (if that's the case) - because it makes a big difference to the prospective buyer or dealer taking yours in on trade. It will be heavily used (if you rent it our regularly). But it's "something to do." For those people seeking such things. lol
