IMO The Armed Forces should be firstly there to defend our country. All area's numbers should be increased but the Defence Minister / Generals should go through the whole set up as a lot of money is wasted!
Purpose? ULTIMATELY to defend THIS country's territory, people AND interests in EVERY respect and by all means. Alliance memberships and consequent obligations must ALSO always be geared to the most effective achievement of these same national objectives
PS I find it very hard to believe Talk UK deleted my original comment to the same effect but which also opined that if/when achieving our essential objectives requires pro-active, even pre-emptive action against enemies, that should obviously be undertaken as a matter of course.. so I must assume the UA-cam Stasi are up to their usual tricks!
