I can’t believe Laurens quit his job to help her follow her dreams. Wow. Just wow. What a man.
it must have been super hard considering she makes more in a month than he did in an entire year. they could NEVER live this lifestyle with his job but with hers they can. even if he was earning more he'd still be stuck in one place and wouldn't see as much of the world.

@@xxxmmm3812 Do keep in mind that Laurens is the son of Bert van Leeuwen, a semi-large Dutch TV presenter. He could've easily used his connections to secure a fairly cushy job. Not saying he got it purely from that but he definitely could've been making some good money doing a job he loved.

i love how Laurens and Romee matured together. Moving in at 18 is a HUGE step but they made it work. I'm surprised they've been dating for so long. The fact they made sure they went home or see family monthly, I think they grew more grounded and genuine. It's easy to get mixed with all the glam so it's nice she made sure her family, education, and her emotional state was always her priority. I used to have this pretty superficial and judgmental view of models but this girl's really opening my mindset. plus I'm also from Belgium so I relate to her even more. I love that she has that mindset of separating looks from being who she is and youtube is a great way to show how dimensional she is.

When I did fashion week (as a makeup artist) I remember talking to the models and most of them mentioned how lonely it was. Some were 17-19 living on their own. It was kind of sad.

What I love about Romee is she comes off as so genuine and not pretentious. So interesting hearing her story. We tend to dehumanize models and forget they have their struggles just like everyone else.
It's also the Dutch culture in her. Very down to Earth and relatable.

Just cause you can‘t understand her way of feeling or you feel like it‘s just something small doesn‘t mean that she has to feel like that as well. If you don‘t go through the same thing, you won‘t be able to understand her, yes, but making it look like something „small“ or not taking it seriously is not okay.

@L M um you do know that there are Asian models too ryt? so even if we try modelling we need don't need fake eye lashes or blonde hair. We look beautiful in our own skin and color. I would have “dislike” if she talked badly of VS cause it would seem that she was jumping ship because of their problems now but she’d had no problem collecting checks and being part of a brand that excludes women that don’t look like her. Would’ve been hypocritical.
I think it depends what you look like and what kind of model you are and what part of VS you work for. She was picked to be an angel, which is like the highest... She's also stunningly beautiful. It's unfair but thats the way it is. I'm glad she was taken care of though
VS has a certain brand, not only are they catwalk models but also the faces of VS and the modelling world is tough. Many women and girls work really hard to get to be an angel and even harder to get their wings. It takes a certain person to be able to reach that status so VS isn't about to change all of a sudden, no matter what the media has to say. (Also idk why people trust most of the media, they exaggerate too much)

Seeing her with tears in her eyes and voice trembling breaks my heart so, so much. I'm so happy she was strong enough to fight all those difficulties and emerge this beautiful, sunny, positive person that makes out lives better by posting these videos!

Being in a different country, a teenager, separated from normal life, not entirely being able to speak the language, having to be self critical, not being able to show your emotions is very difficult. Yes she was a model but that doesnt change how mentally taxing it is, you can't compare people's situations because to Romee, its was still distressing and difficult for her. This is why famous people end up overdosing and becoming alcoholics, no one gets them, yes they're famous but it's most times very lonely, most people are fake and competitive.
Me,of course,she worked so hard.I thought she is happy all all the time,but it's not true,she had sad moments also in her life and it is also very very hard to be a model.Ok she is appreciated a lot now but she worked a lot for that and she deserves to be a VS model and to be famous and stuff.But for a teenager to be alone,and separeted from family its not easy and just think about the psychic experience

Last year as a model I also struggled with period loss for a whole year and a half and thankfully I talked about the issue to my parents who were really supportive and helped me. You're such an inspiration and being honest about it makes me feel like I am not alone, thank you for your words Romee! You're amazing!❤️

I think it is crazy how a 14 year old girl was modeling clothes that are targeted to much older people. 14 years old girls are not all grown up yet and I think this sells a weird image of those clothes... Like under full developed women are modeling clothes for woman that are 30 or much more... I know it´s the industry but I hope someone can understand how I feel about this :(
I get what you're saying. Then again they are not only selling garments but an image, "buy this youthful thing, look at all these young people wearing them". And because teenagers are underdeveloped garments are easier to tailor to them, curves do not have to be taken into account.

But if we want to tie ourself up in a relationship, we deserve partners who would let us chase, work on and help us achieve our dreams and goals the same way Laurens does with Romee. Its not a competition. Its partnership which connotes equal footing between the two people in the relationship.

Can I just say how much I admire you? There are so many models/celebrities out there that put on a happy face or maintain a certain persona just to look confident and collected all the time. I feel like you are one of the very few that actually allows your true self to shine through. You aren’t constantly worried about how you look or what you post and it makes your true beauty shine through! You come across so very genuine to me and of course it’s hard to know over social media who anyone really is, but I just think you are so very amazing Romee!!! Very inspirational story. I’m only 13 and used to be asked about modeling when i was younger but i was too young to really decide for myself so my mom said no and wanted to let me decide for myself as i got older. I haven’t been asked in a couple of years but I have been thinking about it and it seems like a tough but also incredible experience to be a model and I’d like to try it out. Thank you for sharing your story. You seem to have a very amazing personality and you are incredibly beautiful through my eyes. ❤️
