One of the main reasons I love bodyweight training is that you can take it anywhere. With relatively minimal equipment, you can achieve remarkable results. I wanted to share my current portable gym which I am using for all my strength and flexibility training. - Навчання та стиль
One of the main reasons why i love bodyweight training, you can do it anywhere! This is definitely more than the basics but it doesn't restrict options. Stay tuned for the next epiosde where we dive a little deeper to the details of how things are going :)
Glad you've mentiond k boges. He's amazing!
I’ve watched the odd video here and there over the years but recently listened more. Very respectable view on things
new here! was in the best shape of my life in my 20s and 30s until i went into a bad depression after my mother passed and havent really done much in 4 years. now in my 40s and i want to get my old body back. ran through some of your vids and this is the channel for me. wish me luck! and thank you for your channel!
03:49 Love that the 1,000,000 celebration made it in!
Congrats on 1M subs mate!
I'm so lucky I found your stretching videos for running and cycling... It's astonishing to me how well they work. I really love them!
🙏
yes… the rings are the #1, no doubt. Specially when one talks about gear that is backpack-able.
Recently i have also been trying to focus on form & posture.. so i dropped some weight on the weighted chin-ups and pull-ups.. My pike pushups are improving, but i only started doing them 3 months ago.. so i’m still on the easier variations.
I haven’t bought the back extension ‘bench’, yet.. but i use a pilates ball for that.
I got a Hex-bar recently, though.. and i wanna say that it is HANDS DOWN, a must for me. What a difference it makes.
On the coordination field.. i have been exploring kettlebell stuff, and general abs exercises with small additions and tweaks.
These last videos you’ve made, reminded me i have been postponing lateral splits work, so i am motivated to getting into that. ;)
I’ve been trying to get more consistent on the shoulder stability and my old/chronic injuries.. so .. bulking up and recovering from that have been the main focus of my sessions.. this year.
PS: i also own a Concept 2 rower. i do 3k.. or 4k.. 4 or 5 times per week.
Mostly zone 4 stuff..
I want to start doing zone 5 work soon.
Thanks so much for your channel, your videos, and your honesty.
I’ve been following you since you were below 30k subscribers.. ;)
(i believe with a different profile)
Congrats for 1M subs.
Well deserved.
kudos from Portugal. ;)
Congratulations for 1M, I always enjoy your videos.❤️✨
I love how the ring straps themselves are really useful to have with you whenever you are travelling. They can be so nice to strap luggage around you.
lol the dog fell asleep with the ball in its mouth
Its awesome to see that you hit 1 mil! I have been watching since the Bodyweight Basics series in 2018 and its so awesome to see how far you have come. I will be starting this routine today! Again Congratz!!! Very well deserved!!! 💪💥❤
Thank you Tom, for making us healthier! I've been following regularly since the Covid started and back then I was doing one of your stretch routines each morning as a way to not get too lazy. I wouldn't say I'm in "great" shape (36yo), but I try to do my best with a kid and one on the way :). Now I mainly search your videos for whatever specific advice I need on a routine I want to do, and for inspiration and motivation.
My goal for 2024 is to make a clean Chin up/Pull up. As I'm a bit overweight in relation to my height, It'll take some work, but I believe I can get there, with the help of you app. I have a lot of upper body strength, I lack some in the back. For now.
I really appreciate you doing this, you seem like a genuine, trustworthy person that only wants best for us and I can honestly say you are one of my favorite youtubers :)
Hey, Tom! Congratulations on the 1 million subscribers! :) I am greatly influenced by your advice in my training. Coincidentally I am also doing a 2x upper/lower body split. My essential equipment list is a hair different from yours:
I do own rings but rarely need to use them because of the good-enough calisthenics parks around my place, also I need new straps lol.
Instead of dumbbells - I have kettlebells - 2 of 16 kg and 24 kg - great for lower body - swings, squat variations, presses and everything in between.
Bands - warm-up essentials 101, also use the lighter ones, heavier ones sometimes for arm-training.
Yoga mat - a thick one, my knees and elbows thank me.
An even thicker mat, smaller size - for an improvised Nordic/Harop curl setup outside. So effective I hurt my right hamstring.
Bonus essential - water bottle and during cold weather - hot water to keep my hands warm. :D
Absolutely! Bodyweight training's versatility is unbeatable 💪🏋♂
Great vid! Been following the routine for a few weeks now and I agree that it's definitely easy to keep doing consistently.
I think just watching the video is healing.
Love this series! Would love to hear more about the trip itself! I’d be nice to have a vlog about it!
Sure, next couple episodes will cover it
What I take from the video is that the modt important piece of equipment is the tennis ball.
Been training for over 30 years now. Used to love the gym life but now I have all the essentials at home. Various kettlebells(24kg, 20kg x2, 16kg), adjustable dumbbells, dip stand, pull up bar, bench, air bike (that I don’t use enough), bands, weight vest, rings, jump rope, ab wheel, squat wedges. Wow, that’s a lot when I lost it all!
Investments 🤌
Me laughing at your dog who likes to passe over your face at 1:45 mins and shocked at 1:51 at it as it seems dead
She does that 😂
I just wanna be as fit as Tom! Great video, as always!
Love this series! Where are you traveling?
My essentials are paralletes for planche training, rings for pulls and resistance bands for isolations and warm ups.
Great video Tom❤
Great video 👏 Using a TRX instead of rings when traveling. These items definitely make a great home gym.
I agree. While not as good as gym rings, they're a lot easier to set up in hotel rooms
06:46 doggo is just chilling with a rock in his mouth
Rock in her mouth and nothing in her skull 😂
Awesome to hear about K boges, I watch him too. I go to the gym to train and all the equipment is there👍 that club equipment looks cool to train with
Rings and a dip belt are all I really need for upper body. For lower body I would love to have a hacksquat or a beltsquat since they feel fantastic. In case of absence I use dumbbells for BSS the way you do. So really I think your set up is pretty comprehensive or at least I would have chosen the same implements. Love the enjoyment aspect you bring in.
i didn’t know you were experimenting with clubs, Tom. I have looked into it in the past, and i might give it a go, as my shoulder is the most cumbersome of my collected injuries.
I'm sitting here resarching them deciding to pull the trigger or not. Man, if Tom did a club follow along workout that would be awesome..
I live in Minnesota and in the summer months I use a 20 lb plate carrier, a kettlebell, some bands, and the adult jungle gym at a local park for all my workouts
💪
thanx
I'm trying to improve my posture and mobility so I bought yoga blocks last week and I feel a bit of a difference in my legs as they don't feel sore or stiff when I was walking with the dogs. I played around with the wobble board for the first time last Saturday and felt it on my lower abs the next day.
My essentials are my Baseblocks big bar, rings, two different weighted vest, Sandbell, dips bars, and a few kettlebells. I've slowly been accumulating the equipment over the last few years. Trying to build as efficient of a home/minimalist set up as much as I possibly can. Like you, I love calisthenics training for its variety and ability to do it anywhere, but having other gear is nice for different movements and modalities that I like to train from time to time.
Exactly. Minimalism is great but you don’t want to be restrictive
I was surprised to see that my exercise selection/philosophy is nearly identical to yours. I do weighted pullups/dips, rows, ring pushups, bulgarian split squats, b-stance RDLs, nordic curls, calf raises, and a few accessory exercises.
My equipment is pretty much the same too, except I have PB bars and ~220lb of weight plates. I don’t have space for a barbell, so I use loadable dumbbells and unilateral exercises for legs.
It is the way
Although its uncomfortable maybe a heavy sandbag? I feel like lower body would suffer with such light weights, but this is a great set-up all things considered.
All you need is a dip station and pull up bars, or even better just one set of gymnastics rings if you know where to hang them
Sure. I’d say absolute minimum is just rings. Anything on top is a bonus
Can you make a video on Indian club movements. Never seen that behind the back variation before.
I will do but I need to spend some more time in the trenches
Not the point of the video but what watch are you wearing? Is it a Hamilton field khaki?
Good spot ;) it’s a great everyday watch that can take a beating
Low and high parallettes, and a yoga mat. Done.
I love the dog ❤ what breed?
Cocker spaniel
Does anyone know where he is. 8ve seen vids for years and it’s obviously sunnier than England but it’s become a distraction wondering is he in the us or Europe. It’s somewhere warm.
95% of videos are in England. This one is in Spain / Gibraltar
oh thats a tennis ball that is :D
uhh why is that beach so empty?
It’s only warm if you’re British, if you’re Spanish it’s still winter 😂
1:50 Tom's dog looks dead to the point I thought it was a stuffed animal. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Rings and weight vest for me. The vest weighs a ton fully laden but is adjustable. It conveniently adds load to every exercise. Can also use it for curls, front raises and other accessory exercises. The only downside is that I look like a terrorist wearing it.
Weighted vest.
*promo sm*
1:52 my god that's cute
Great video 👏 Using a TRX instead of rings when traveling. These items definitely make a great home gym.
