    Silver Dollar City is just such a great place to be at, it's just amazing all the little touches that were completely new to me compared to all the standard corporate parks. A swinging rope bridge, random buildings/rooms with no other purpose than to explore, wonderful tree-cover shielding you from the sun, A HUGE CAVE, a bizarre but charming winding path up to the park, really wacky attractions like Flooded Mine, Grandfather's mansion, and that underground restaurant, a park *newspaper!*, and neat ride specific employee uniforms.

Also glad to see Great Adventure ranked high. Hopefully next year we get an elite coaster that really solidifies its spot in the top 3 Six Flags parks.

    It is REALLY hard for me to put together an actual ranking of my top parks, so that's why I was curious what other people thought. I'd have to say at the moment, however, this is how they stack up, with all of them, especially parks 2 through 7 being really, really close!
    1. Cedar Point
    2. Kings Island
    3. Busch Gardens Tampa
    4. Sea World Orlando
    5. Busch Gardens Williamsburg
    6. Hersheypark
    7. Dollywood
    8. Holiday World
    9. Kings Dominion
    10. Six Flags Fiesta Texas
    Honorable Mentions
    - Six Flags Great Adventure
    - Kennywood
    - Carowinds
    - Six Flags Magic Mountain
    - Six Flags Great America
    (Fun Fact: If Six Flags Worlds of Adventure still existed, as it did in the early 2000's, I would actually have that at #2, just behind Cedar Point! It was an awesome park!)

      as someone whos home parks are hersheypark and SFGA im incredibly shocked at your rankings for both. in my opinion, SFGA is a much better park. el toro is better than skyrush (skyrush restraints play a big role in it) and kingda ka is better than stormrunner. fahrenheit is a good coaster but id still put nitro over it. for SFGA top 3 over hersheypark top 3, that wld be changed. however, candymonium will also likely be worse than jersey devil coaster, considering jersey devil will be a top 3 rmc. also seaworld orlando would not be as high as that, even though kraken is my favorite floorless and mako is my favorite hyper. the fact that there are only 3 coasters makes it not better than any of the parks on this list. seaworld is still focused on the animals with coasters as a newer addition to invite more thrillseakers against parks like the texas six flags, disney/universal, etc.

    Even though I've never been to the US I find your list good, I'm kind of sad of not seeing Dollywood and the two Busch Gardens higher on the list because they are the most European feeling park in the US.
    For my top I will go maybe like this:
    1 - Phantasialand
    2- Toverland
    3 - Europa Park
    4 - Holiday Park
    5 - Energylandia
    6 - Le Pal

    Holiday World needs an RMC am I right?

    • @HouseBlackwolf
      @HouseBlackwolf 5 років тому +6

      Holiday World really needs to kick everything up a notch. They're close to both Kings Island and Kentucky Kingdom, and whenever I go there I just get a screaming sense of "baby park." (It's my home park!) I understand wanting to feel family-oriented, but most of their flat rides really suck because they haven't been updated in a good while, and while the Raven and the Legend are okay starter coasters, the Voyage and Thunderbird are really the only reasons to come to the park once you've gotten a few larger credits from the other nearby parks. The holiday themeing just seems so juvenile and dated, you can tell this is an OLD park. (Which is it - one of the oldest theme parks in the US!) But I wouldn't know what to suggest to help it, outside of "scrap the theme and go hard on thrills" - which they seem to be doing, in terms of thrills. Splashin' Safari is absolutely legendary though, blows every other water park I've been to out of the water. (Pun intended.) But they almost seem to be neglecting their dry park in order to advance their water park, which seems like a bad move to me as you get more seasonal time with the dry park. (April and Late August, September, and October)They either need to say "We're going to be an amazing family park" or "we're going to be a thrill park" because going in both directions is something that bigger parks with more land and budget can do, but not Holiday World. The only thing Holiday World has on KI and KK is the pricing and free parking and drinks. (But KK is getting really good deals too these past years, so HW is even losing that edge.) Not to mention there's no fast pass system for coasters, which personally irks me because I loathe going to a park and not being able to ride more than maybe a coaster or two due to large wait times, which Holiday World totally gets with Thunderbird and Voyage. /endrant

    • @timk987
      @timk987 5 років тому

      @@HouseBlackwolf Be careful what you wish for with a fast lane system. Some parks do a nice job of investing in an actual system to make it fair and accessible for all guests with registration or comeback window systems, but for others it's a total money grab. Cedar Point is my home park and when you spend nearly $200 on a platinum pass most people rely on repeat visits to get on everything. With it's worldwide reputation I can understand people who've traveled a great distance wanting a fast lane, but I am surprised to hear someone want a fast lane system at their home park!

    • @HouseBlackwolf
      @HouseBlackwolf 5 років тому +2

      @@timk987 When I say it's my "Home park," it's still a good two hours away from me. Which, I know doesn't SOUND like a big deal, but I'm physically disabled and driving long times and waiting long waits (even with my wheelchair) kills me. I get maybe 4 hours at a park, 6 if I'm lucky, a day before I have to rest for the rest of the evening, and if waiting in line chews up most of that time, I'm an unhappy camper lol. During peak season and when the Halloween Festivities are going on, the wait times can get pretty wild - and a two hour wait just doesn't cut it for me. Like they have the system that KI does where you get a "ride time" and then come back, but you've still gotta wait - which is totally fair! But I'm also willing to shell out some cash to make sure I ride everything I want in one day, maybe multiple times. (I don't get to go to theme parks too often - only been to KI two days this year, and I'm a season pass holder. Cue the sad piano music!)

    • @timk987
      @timk987 5 років тому

      @@HouseBlackwolfWhen you say "Like they have the system that KI does where you get a "ride time" and then come back,"...you are referring to the system for being disabled or having a medical excuse? I think that is pretty fair as well. The more elite coasters a park gets the more likely they'd get a line bypass system. I think that is sometime off for HW, unless they implement a system like Universal's Volcano Bay for Splashin' Safari. I'd say there is a bigger need there. Just out of curiosity, if you're only spending 4-6 hours in a park how much cash would you be willing to "shell out" on a bypass system? Do you get a Fast Lane at Kings Island?

    • @HouseBlackwolf
      @HouseBlackwolf 5 років тому

      Tim K I do! I know a lot of people would see it as silly, but nearly every time I go, unless it’s like in early May (before schools get out) or if I go during the week (Like a Tuesday or Wednesday) I try and get a fast pass if I have the money for it. Like I said, I only get about 4-6 hours at a park so I try to make the most of that by riding as much as I can. Fast Passes help because I don’t have to go all the way up the wheelchair ramp, then back down to wait, then back up it again an hour later when it’s time - I can just roll up and go!
      I totally agree with you on the front that it’s probably a long way before Holiday World gets a Fast Pass system - I think they totally need a few bigger rides first. If you got it, your only options would be just the Voyage, Thunderbird, and maybe the bigger water slides if they extended it to Splashin’ Safari. I just hope they start getting these big rides tho, I would love to see some life poured into the park I spent so many childhood summer vacations at. :)

    SFMM is also my home park and I think we're lucky to be top 5. If Six Flags Corp. put more care into the park and how its rides are presented I think we could be ranked higher. That change looks promising though with West Coast Racers coming in. The only thing I don't agree with you on are what rides in Magic Mountain you consider "elite." Tatsu is not _arguably_ elite, it most definitely still is an elite ride in the world of roller coasters when considering other B&M's. I would also list Full Throttle as an elite ride and not a supporting one, I've seen plenty of people list it as their favorite ride in the park. We need a giga for our 20th roller coaster though stat haha.

    • @CoderatheGreat

      Maybe they can remove Viper and put the giga there, though I wonder if that would be enough room for it.

    • @EmeraldBayMovies
      @EmeraldBayMovies 4 роки тому +1

      Idk, a giga would cost an upwards of 25 mil, and Six flags hasn't poured anywhere near that amount of money into a ride in close to 20 years. I don't think it's a realistic expectation sadly.

      Max Theme Parks I mean I’m going to be honest. I’ve been to Dollywood, Busch gardens Williamsburg, Kings Dominion, Cedar Point, Kings Island, Sic Flags Magic Mountain, and this year I’m also visiting Carowinds and six flags over Georgia. I can safely say that kings island really isn’t overrated. I think personally it feels like a 4 or 5 park but when you really break it down it comes out 2 for good reason. Their top three are absolutely awesome, the best supporting cast of any park excluding cedar point, and with an outstanding ride on the way for 2020, I would say the park is pretty fairly rated. Now I get that there are a lot of KI fanboys that will hype of the most nonsense things of the park and even though it is currently my home park, I try to not associate with the fanboys though I do recognize that it is an amazing park! The info thing really missing is the outstanding ride that stands clearly above all which will be soon. It’s pretty sad how people will hate on the park just because they think it’s cool or that the park is deserving of it when it’s just honestly a great park :(

      @Rollercoasters Worldwide Go there when Lightning Rod and Mystery Mine are both down. I went in Aug 2017 over 4 day stretch and that was the case. In fact, Wild Eagle kept shutting down intermittently and I thought it was odd for a B&M. Came to find out the were having trouble with bees in the station. At one point i think there were 5 or 6 coasters down! I wasn't impressed. I even thought the cinnamon bread was over rated! Okay on the outside, but just plain, hot and doughy on the inside! Fortunately we said at Dreammore so we had easy access and Time Saver passes. (but most lines weren't that long)

  • @loganreidy7055

    I live about 2 1/2 hours away from cedar point and I've only been there once in mid may on a hichschool field trip for collegiate classes. Despite being may, a school day, and 50 °F the lines were still really long. Unfortunately I can't say I had a great visit because many of the rides were closed due to wind speed / rain. The closings coupled with the crowds served to increase the lines even further. That said what coasters I did ride were undoubtedly the best I have ever ridden. Funnily enough one of the coolest parts of my visit was getting on a pendulum ride seconds before a sudden downpour. While my friends and I were on the ride the rain stung like needles which is a very fond memory in hindsight. The real kicker for the trips was the millennium force though. While I was riding it my friend next to me had his arms up, when he put them down he knocked off my glasses. This effectively meant I was wandering through the park blind for the whole day (Fuck you Zain). Despite the "bad" trip I still enjoyed Cedar Point more than any other park and would love to go back with my college friends.

It was my first first “big boy” coaster. My dad snuck me on when I was about an inch too short to ride way back in ‘93. Back then, the line for Vortex would stretch all the way down the midway to the entrance of the Racer.

      I think the ability to stay ahead of the curve in thrill rides like they had done at the beginning of the coaster wars which dick kinzel started. Coupled with its unique location with its diligent maintenance and focus on safety make it a top tier park. What other amusement park that you can goto the ride side of the park and later visit a water park and either during the day or towards at night chill out on a beach??... I have actually spent some days just relaxing on the beach and when the sun goes down take the family inside the park to ride a few rides before heading home.

    I honestly think living in the Cincinnati area is the best area to live if you are a coaster enthusiast. That might sound crazy because of places like south California and the Orlando, FL area but the reason why I think it’s the best area is two things. One you have 4 absolutely outstanding amusement parks considerably close by (Kings Island, Cedar Point, Holiday World, and Kentucky Kingdom with places like Indiana Beach, Six Flags Great America, Hersheypark, and Beech Bend not too far off either). And two there are specific highways that literally lead right to those areas (Interstate 71 connecting Louisville, Cincinnati, and Cleveland with roads leading right to Sandusky, Interstate 75 connecting Cincinnati down to southern Kentucky, and I-74 connecting a lot of the parks in Indiana. It just seems very convenient with all of the parks.

    Great list. I usually rank my parks by the experience I had there / how much fun I've had. That standard isn't really fair if I have only visited a park on crazy busy days (Kings Island) or I wasn't able to get the full experience at a park (SFMM), but that's still how I rank them. Sometimes, a mediocre park or one with a weak coaster lineup can give me a fantastic experience (SW San Antonio-SFStL-WOF), by going at the right time or visiting enough to really take it all in. An attached waterpark can provide a big boost for me.

    2. Busch Gardens Tampa
    1. Cedar Point
    I'll be visiting Six Flags Great Adventure in a few weeks. You mentioned the locker policy. How is that one enforced; metal detectors? I heard about the empty pockets thing. What if I use a money belt, attached to my belt loops, with a front zippered pocket that I tuck in? I often do it that way when I go to parks, and it works beautifully.

      Wow SWSA thats surprising, and I also rank these parks largely based on how much fun I had there (though not entirely cuz if I did, SFNE would be wayyy higher)
      The SFGADV locker policy applies to Toro, Ka, and Joker. You cant have anything metal in your pockets-cameras keys change phones. The employees usually even make you pat your pockets down, but they didnt have metal detectors when I was there. If you can pat yourself down without making it obvious there's something hidden then youre fine

      I know that SWSA would surprise a lot of people. But I have always had such a great time there, and I have had enough time there to really take it all in. Weak coaster lineup, but the waterpark on site adds a lot, and there's always plenty to do on my summer visits. I know my experience there is unique. Thanks for the info on SFGAdv. I'm always prepared to get a locker if I have to, even though I always have everything secured. I just like knowing ahead of time of annoying policies.

    I went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg on summer vacation. I rode InvadR, Alpengeist, Griffin, and Apollo’s Chariot.

    I'll hopefully make a trip to Magic Mountain (either Fright Fest or Holiday in the Park; I didn't want to be out there in the summer when it's brutally hot!) and the inevitable questions:
    1. X2 - inner or outer seat?
    2. Scream suffers from a major B&M rattle? (which is odd because it's a clone of Bizzaro)
    3. Does Viper bash you around like any other Arrow looper?
    4. Since I'll be staying at a hotel; is there any public transportation to/from the park?

      Jason Maier 1. inner seat for smoothness but outer seat for even more insanity
      2. scream is really not that bad
      3. viper will give you a minor concussion and rip your ears off
      4. yes there is public transportation to the park every day of the week.
      hope you have fun!!

    Grew up with Cedar Point as my home park and I feel so lucky, not living in Ohio anymore but it's absolutely the thing I miss the most!

    Thing about Kings Island is its only getting bigger and better. There’s plenty of room to expand and with solid attendance it can justify getting new amazing coasters. They already have an amazing lineup with their 2020 giga Orion and it’s gonna get much better in the future.

    Wow shame you didn’t have a good experience at Hershey! Absolutely Beautiful park and a pretty kickass lineup between skyrush stormrunner and Fahrenheit, plus a crazy historic park aswel!
