Aren't Icelanders distant cousins of the dane's? Iceland was settled upon first by Norway, then Denmark. Is that not correct?

I would say we are close cousins to both Norway and Denmark
and you are correct we were first settled by Norway but we lived under Danish rule for far longer than under Norway
