My favorite video of yours. Windsor Castle is also truly amazing. I could hear stories like this for hours. We were just there in May: long lines and Abbey was jam packed so you couldn't loiter, just follow like sardines the prescribed paths. They only gave you 30 minutes after paying the entrance fee. When I went 40 years ago, you could just saunter in for free like any church (exact same time of year) and take hours to look at the 1,000 years of history. Still worth it though!!
A moving tribute to the Unknown Soldier and the Abbey, ghosts and memorials. I visited the Abbey some years ago. It is truly a remarkable place of worship. Well done.

I've been to Westminster Abbey. It's incredibly majestic, hauntingly beautiful, and so full of history, it's humbling. You can feel the age of the building and I always felt like someone was just behind me, no matter where I walked. I was so surprised to see Queen Elizabeth I buried next to Mary Queen of Scots. When I asked one of the guides about it, she said it was an attempt to show that the countries of England and Scotland are now united. Thank you for your wonderful, ghostly look into this treasured site.
Hello and I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! Mary Queen of Scots is opposite Elizabeth but Queen Mary (as in Bloody Mary) who was Elizabeth’s half sister is with Elizabeth herself. But you’re right, the proximity of Mary Queen of Scots and Elizabeth is probably the closest they have ever been! 👻🙋♀️

I'm guessing the symbolism was not only important, but also it was an opportunity for the public to gloat properly on those they viewed as criminal. Giving people an outlet for their rage is good practice on a population that may be sometimes hard to pacify.

I know! I have to be honest it was a bit of an eye opener to me but interesting! The body being described as green and stank made me a bit queasy! 👻🙋♀️
Hello Chris, well I think it must be a rather old fashioned expression, but it’s way more interesting than ‘I misread that’ or ‘I must be seeing things’ maybe? My rather old and stuffy English teacher used to say it and I still remember it to this day! (she was very scary!)
I have only once been to Westminster Abbey, in 1992. I don't know if I met any ghosts there because I come across ghosts that look totally solid all the time. Happened just before Christmas again. A Christmas ghost? Maybe... he helped in a way that showed he knew what would happen in the near future. I tell myself not to freak out because, if I do, I would be freaking out all the time given my city is haunted like there's no tomorrow, lol...
Oh yes, if your eyes are being ridiculous, you may be seeing things (or need an eye test) My rather old fashioned English teacher used to say that to us if she misread things and it always stuck! 🙋♀️👻
I know from my own experiences in life that something is going on. Not that I've witnessed a ghost as such, though....It's hard to explain. Thanks again for the videos. Please look into my home City of Leeds if you ever have the opportunity. Best wishes, Glenn X
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your thoughts. I love reading viewer's thoughts and ideas. Leeds is firmly on the list and has been for a while so lots to come 👻🙏
@@ghostcasebook1266 hiya, I bet the lead lined tomb keeps his spirit inside ! Btw, have you ever heard the story about the haunted hunt ? It's narrated by Richard O'Brien on a " true ghost stories " tape which I had as a kid in the early nineties( I still have it) . Half of the tape has been uploaded to u tube but the side with the above mentioned tale is removed.
The unknown soldier could possibly be named if DNA was taken. My brother in laws great uncle died in WW1 and buried in france. They visited his grave with my niece who is mediumistic and she was bombarded with soldiers shouting to be found and named. This makes me wonder if the unknown soldier in Westminster wants to be named. Just a thought.
Thank you so much for sharing this story about your family connection to WW1. I do think the Unkown warrior’s grave is very poignant and it gets me every time I see it. 👻🙏🙋♀️
There was the apparition of what I would describe as a hooded Monk caught on camera in Westminster Abbey during the coronation of King Charles III, I have the picture saved but unfortunately can’t share it here.
An inch & a half over the stone floor. It is indicative of the stone tape theory. A replay of the past. Still a sceptic or more accurately a Skeptic. All fascinating material though. 👌
Father Benedicts apparition is still wandering in Westminster Abbey, how many have seen ,it might be there his soul. Many person's like judge Bradshah and Cromwell, and king Henry 1 apparition as you said is seen, but those person's whose body was exhumed an reburied else were, and re exequited at Tyburn is terrible history
My Grandfather told us about an ancestor who was caretaker of Westminster Abbey. Being a child at the time, I didn't ask when or any details. His name was David Wickwire and I can't seem to find any info. My people come from York. There just HAS to be a way to find that info in this day and age!😊
Hello Sandee, thanks for sharing your story. I know, when we are young we aren’t interested maybe in the significant stories of our relatives. I would imagine your ancestor’s details might well be on records at the Abbey or even census records. If you find out more, I’d love to hear about it! Sounds fascinating 🙋♀️🙏
Thank you so much for responding. I live in America and so far have not had success when reaching out. I do not know how to reach someone in the Abbey. I certainly will let you know if I have any success. Cheers! 😊
Hi Sandee, I would give the Abbey a try. They have a contact us email address here: info@westminster-abbey.org Also I had a look through the newspaper archives to see if I could find anything linked to the name you gave but no joy, sadly. I hope you’re able to unearth some details. That would be fantastic 👻🙋♀️
Oh - I'm not sure if you'll see this comment as the vid is from last year. Also, I don't know whether it's relevant to these tales (I haven't hit play yet and can't recall), but could you please explain the National Trust, English Heritage and the listing system for historic landmarks, etc. in a video? I could look it up, but I'm probably not the only foreigner who isn't familiar with the classification situation. If you could sum it up briefly while discussing a location it would be much appreciated. ❤
The National Trust is a charity with membership so I am a member of the National Trust. They have numerous properties across the UK that they preserve along with vast areas of land. Sometimes, wealthy people, to avoid certain taxes, will donate the property, land and furniture to the National trust to preserve. This stops any development on the site. English Heritage is similar; they are also a charity that looks after numerous properties, castles etc. So in effect you could be a member of both and your membership helps to protect the properties. Listed buildings are recognised and catalogued; you absolutely cannot just come along and develop, alter, change, knock down a listed building. Very strict rules are in place to preserve these structures but it’s not just buildings. Phone boxes, post boxes and even things like the Abbey Road crossing are listed. I hope this helps 👻🙏🙋♀️
@@ghostcasebook1266 Yes - thank you very much! Your reply answers questions I've had for years as I watch a lot of British productions on culture, history and/or hauntings and those terms are bandied about. I had a general idea from context but you've summarized the sitch well. ❤
Hi There are lots of historic buildings here in England that are reputed to be haunted. Also ppl must remember that England was Catholic before the reformation..could be the reason why he haunts the abbey.. Just a thought.
Just wanted to let you know I have Subscribed. I really enjoy all the tales you have on your video list. Definitely have some great stories to listen to soon. Tyvmuch. Narrator's voice is quite lovely. Cheers from the 0ther Side of the Pond🗽💙
Love your content! It might be nice to hear more about the North of England (we get ignored a lot so we probs have more stories that fewer people know about?) if you're interested. We have places like York, Chillingham Castle etc. and I believe Durham Castle is still university accommodation for students and it's supposed to be very haunted!
Hi Tigerlily, I am so glad you enjoyed the videos and I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Rest assured, I hear you concern about the North of England being ignored and I am working on content right now that takes us further afield. You are right; there are some wonderful tales from Northumberland, Yorkshire and many, many more locations. The Christmas episode touched on Birmingham and Derbyshire, and haunted English hoteks looked at a hotel in Lincoln but stay tuned as more will be coming your way very soon 😀👻🙋♀️
It's no wonder there are so many ghosts there, so violent. Isn't it sort if funny that today British are seen as the height of refinement with such a bloody soaked past. Don't we all! Hopefully we will all one day learn to live in peace.❤
8.57 It Probably Is The Unknown Soldier Haunting The Grave He Possibly Wants Ppl To Know Who He Is It Bothers His Spirit That The World Calls Him "Unknown" They Should Bring In A Medium To Talk To Him,and Get His Name... I Hope He Can Move On To Gods Heavenly Afterlife Oneday,Amen
"Posthumous execution"??? The idea is so grotesque, and not just for the obvious reasons. Can you imagine needing so badly to humiliate/symbolically destroy another person that you would do something so unnecessary and horrific, just for your own psychological satisfaction? Ick.
I do love fictional ghost stories especially when they are steeped in old local folklore, it adds to the history of a place even if it is all drunken tales.

I used to work in the Abbey during the 1980s when they had a shop in the great cloister and I did see an apparition.
Executed posthumously?
That's bizarre! 💀
I know! I have to be honest it was a bit of an eye opener to me but interesting! The body being described as green and stank made me a bit queasy! 👻🙋♀️
I wish I could narrate my videos as smoothly and beautifully as you do. Ah, well, maybe I should practice more. Love everything about your channel!
Kelly, you’re very kind. I wish I could cook! 👻🙋♀️
@@ghostcasebook1266 maybe we could give each pointers via zoom lol 🥰
'thinking his eyes were being ridiculous'..never heard that expression before
Hello Chris, well I think it must be a rather old fashioned expression, but it’s way more interesting than ‘I misread that’ or ‘I must be seeing things’ maybe? My rather old and stuffy English teacher used to say it and I still remember it to this day! (she was very scary!)
I love this channel
thank you Kimberly 🙏🙋♀️👻
I have only once been to Westminster Abbey, in 1992. I don't know if I met any ghosts there because I come across ghosts that look totally solid all the time. Happened just before Christmas again. A Christmas ghost? Maybe... he helped in a way that showed he knew what would happen in the near future. I tell myself not to freak out because, if I do, I would be freaking out all the time given my city is haunted like there's no tomorrow, lol...
Solid ghosts (to my knowledge) are not see through.
A lovely narrating voice
Dropped you a sub cant wait to see more of your channel .i wish u great success
I appreciate it so much, thank you 👻🙋♀️
@@ghostcasebook1266👍 ❤
4:15-ish;His eyes were being ridiculous;never heard that before!😄👍
Oh yes, if your eyes are being ridiculous, you may be seeing things (or need an eye test) My rather old fashioned English teacher used to say that to us if she misread things and it always stuck!
Leeds is firmly on the list and has been for a while so lots to come 👻🙏
@@ghostcasebook1266 Wonderful. I'll be looking out. Keep up the good work. Very enjoyable to watch. Glenn X
Hey , your channel is great , thankyou.
I wonder if king Edward the 1st roams Westminster Abbey in the dead of the night.
Thank you so much RJH Trucking. I wonder too! 🙏👻🙋♀️
Half of the tape has been uploaded to u tube but the side with the above mentioned tale is removed.
lol I put this on and im like... I know that voice. Was just watching the other channel. True crime bringe pour la victoire!
I don't believe in ghosts, but I love ghost stories like these.
Thank you so much Jeff, I am so glad you’re enjoying the stories!
There was the apparition of what I would describe as a hooded Monk caught on camera in Westminster Abbey during the coronation of King Charles III, I have the picture saved but unfortunately can’t share it here.
Could the first ghost be the figure spotted at the Coronation of King Charles? Very spooky.
Fantastic video, I really enjoyed it.
I think they were able to de-bunk that story in the end but it seems the Abbey is rather active! 🙏🙋♀️👻
Since cameras are everywhere they've captured images that can't be explained away, ghosts do exist.
Father Benedictus actually sounds kinda nice 😅
I agree! 👻
I agree the Tyburn executions of already dead people is quite bizarre! 👻🙋♀️
They have a contact us email address here:
info@westminster-abbey.org
Also I had a look through the newspaper archives to see if I could find anything linked to the name you gave but no joy, sadly.
Hi
There are lots of historic buildings here in England that are reputed to be haunted.
Also ppl must remember that England was Catholic before the reformation..could be the reason why he haunts the abbey..
Just a thought.
😂
👍🏻tfsharing
Just wanted to let you know I have Subscribed. I really enjoy all the tales you have on your video list. Definitely have some great stories to listen to soon.
Tyvmuch. Narrator's voice is quite lovely.
Cheers from the 0ther Side of the Pond🗽💙
I saw a ghost once,it was covered with a bedsheet with holes cut out where it’s eyes were, presumably to see where it was going.
😂😂
Henry IV did in fact make it to Jerusalem on pilgrimage. He is the only English Crusader King to have that honor
It's no wonder there are so many ghosts there, so violent. Isn't it sort if funny that today British are seen as the height of refinement with such a bloody soaked past. Don't we all! Hopefully we will all one day learn to live in peace.❤
Sadly, lots of countries have similar blood soaked pasts.
Have you done one of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.... I know most of the history behind it
I haven’t looked at any overseas places of worship at this point but it’s on the list! 🙋♀️👻
Spooky, mmm spooky.
8.57 It Probably Is The Unknown Soldier Haunting The Grave
He Possibly Wants Ppl To Know Who He Is
It Bothers His Spirit That The World Calls Him "Unknown"
They Should Bring In A Medium To Talk To Him,and Get His Name...
Ick.
I know! It is quite disturbing to think about it!
That's how a lot of people were in those days. Religion may have played a major part of it.
“Three and a half thousand people” are buried there? 😳 What happened to the other half of that one guy?
Ha ha that made me nearly spit my tea out! 👻🙋♀️
Not a lot of luck with these King Charles'. The Third won't turn out to be any different.
I do love fictional ghost stories especially when they are steeped in old local folklore, it adds to the history of a place even if it is all drunken tales.
"Fictional" ghost stories? I love how the ignorant discount that which they know nothing about.
"Thinking his eyes were being ridiculous", oh so English of you. I haven't heard that expression in many years.
👻👍
Thank you so much Criss 🙋♀️👻
at the 3:30 mark. This might be him ?
