@1jackdk That must've been amazing! At least you will always those scenes in your memory. Thanks man! Your videos are fantastic, they bring back such good memories for me!
@CSXACe Thanks Bob! Glad you enjoy it! I wish I had a video camera when I was a young lad! I can remember many times being at Terrace Lake with my parrents when I was a kid, and watching the NYS&W come up through the valley with 5 silver RS1's. All the hoods where propped open, and the side doors swing open and close as they would sway down the track at about 15mph. Memories I will never forget. Thanks for watching, and subscribing. I subbed back...
Very nice, Jack! Sadly I missed out on the Susquehanna stack trains. And for no real good reason as I only lived in Rutherford. Oh well! That's why people like you took these videos!
Michael Sullivan Thanks Michael. I only wish I did more. When my wife and I made the trip from PA. to visit my parents in Bloomingdale, we where only three blocks from the tracks. Always heard the w/b at night, but usually caught the e/b in late morning. Wished we visited more back then... Thanks for watching, and glad you enjoyed it.
Hey Jack, Just some further commentary. I have found some news as of late that these intermodals potentially could be making a comeback to the NYSW rails! That would be awesome wouldn't it? The LORD is good I tell you Jack. Thanks for the epic videos to throwback to them. -Don
That would be FANTASTIC, if they run stacks across the NYSW again. I might have to make a trip up on the Tier, and to NJ and catch them. Thanks for the info, and keep me posted. God Bless brother, and thanks for watching... Jack

Hi Jack, Long time no chat. I hope all is well. You had previously asked me to send you anything I come across that is of interest, so here goes. I came across this recently, and I personally think it may boost traffic on this side of Tier at some point in time. I have pasted the URL below for you. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crescent_Corridor#Project_overview God bless brother, and hope to hear from you soon. -Don
Jack, nice video...thanks for uploading. These were the days, weren't they? Loved those P5's and the horn salute from the NS unit (I think it was 3162). Are those high hoods still in service? I have heard that the NYSW F45 3636 has been scrapped. It would have been nice to see it leading, but you can't always get what you want when you want it. Do you have any footage from the Hudson Secondary of these stacks?
+Donald Conklin Yah Don. One each way a day. Usually the eastbound was in daylight. Could be anytime morning or afternoon. Westbound was going past Bloomingdale, NJ between 7 and 11 at night. I would hear them when I stayed at my parents house.
+jackmp294.5™ Oh wow Jack. Thanks for the info and your time (and of course this awesome video!). I miss these trains very much. Keep these good old videos from the archives coming. Happy New Year!
Can't go wrong with an old Southern railroad-tuned P5! I grew up listening to those, and boy do I miss them with the current junk on the rails.
As an 80s baby in Valdosta GA. I grew up on these trains. High hoods and those horns.
I also grew up watching these high hood engines in the mid 90s through the 2000s.
@@ferrocarrillagranciudad yessir good times!!
Too bad that there aren't a lot as they used to before
You are correct about sweet sounding - I love a good P5 horn.
F45s and high-hoods! Awesome!
thts a beautiful sounding mixed cast p5!
Love that newcast p5 there!
Nice video. That was quite a nice horn
When railfanning was at its finest! Great video
Ns East Coast Rail Fan M&West1991! This is a nice classic Southern Railroad Nathan P5 Train Horn!
I love this ole Southern Railroad Nathan P5 Horn on this Train!
I love that Mixed Cast P5A combination. Old Cast 1, 4a, & 5, New Cast 2 & 3.
JACK! THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS! I've been dying for a decent video of a High Nose SD40-2!

@1jackdk That must've been amazing! At least you will always those scenes in your memory. Thanks man! Your videos are fantastic, they bring back such good memories for me!
The first P5 like a 1st gen K5LLA.
Great video! You used some of my present day favorite spots on the NYS&W!
When they used to pass by Sparta NJ you can hear the NS horns echoing in the mountains
Dude Yes!!!! I've seen a few NYSW trains at this location... Awesome clip man
Great sounding horn! 👍👍👍👍
That it is!!! I'd like to find one of them to put on my 1985 Mack Superliner. My favorite horn ever. Thanks for watching...
Nice video!
CottonBeltSD40T !
Now we’re talking!
Your not kidding Curtis. Just gotta love it. Thanks for watching...
3314 has a nice p5a
these things look funny leading a stacktrain compared to the ES44's of today. Great Video!

I loved Southern air horns
One things I liked about NS were the Nathan P5's
Almost as sweet as the Jackson and Lansing Railroad 1760!
Who doesn't love high hoods?
I love em!
CSX Hates them I think but I love them
East American Trains me
East American Trains me. Ugly AF
Sounds like a harmonica oddly enough.

Old cast P5!!
Actually it’s a mixed cast P5. But it sounds great!
Does Susquehanna still haul containers?
I don't think they do, but I heard rumors that they may be haulin containers sometime soon. Thanks for watching...
I think that's a P5A I THINK
It may be Herin. Thanks for watching...
Jack, were the stacks an everyday thing or did they come at oppurtune times?

Sadly, all Ex-SOU Sd40-2 high hoods are gone
That is sad John. I miss the high hoods, and when NS/NW/SRR ran long hood forward. Those were the days. Thanks for watching...
Jack,
Saw most of the SOU power was auctioned off. How outrageous!

Oh man!!! Thanks for passing that like along. That is outrageous. I guess its better than going to scrap.
jackmp294.5™ Indeed. You're welcome. I like the P5's and your video here.
jackmp294.5™ sometimes God does things for reasons we don't understand; this is just one of those times I guess
jackmp294.5™ Do you use Google Hangouts?
I don't think so. What's that?
