Honestly those are hilarious arguments. Asmon says it's mature to just go with the flow and buy these games. I think the argument of "it will be like that for a while but.." is the exact problem because it's not a indie company making a 10~20 bucks game it's blizzard making a 70 bucks game with battlepass and a whole lot of microtransactions and people are still like "yes the queue is only gonna take 2 hours".
I expect nothing less but failure of a company that embraced wokeness. People can try to blend it out but the very concept of wokeness is cursed and it will somehow create a negative spiral that will take everything down with itself.
@@patrickmartin4327 PoE isn't paid to win either, but has microtransactions. P2W and Micro's aren't the same thing. In PoE, I'd be lying if I didn't have purple crystals that grow for every footstep I take. It cost 2 bucks. I even got Hypno-Meme-Toad with mushrooms on its back, cause duh, trippy
From a business perspective he's absolutely right, the market incentives are simply too high to ignore on a general scale, i'm just thankful for indie developers and the rare companies willing to to still make art instead of scummy money making schemes
And that won't happen because "people" as a group as fucking stupid. The far majority will go "oh but I only have one pre-order, that will hardly matter!".
Only solution isn't trying to beat the companies by "attacking their wallets". That doesn't work when someone else is spending hundreds or thousands on the game and making up for it. Instead, just focus on supporting companies and studios that make the kind of games you want, ones that are willing to listen to the players and actually care. Help them grow, and don't even care about the other games.
Or if you have the money buy stock and drop in on investor meetings and talk with other investors to form a cartel to oust the current board and then appoint yourself as chair.
The problem with that is that when you do they become the problem you hated in the beginning. Only microtransactions I ever bought were in ghost recon wildlands and then breakpoint happened where the game was shit and never got updates like wildlands did and they ended up making resources microtransactions.
I feel like frustration comes from the fact that some gamers feel cheated by these systems and lack of quality and seeing someone else pay for it only confirms to companies that there is money to be made even though a system or product might be anti-consumer.
That's just the way it is. There's too much naive idealism/optimism in the way people criticise this stuff endlessly. Yes, it's annoying, but it's not going to change any time soon.
But hey long as many of gamers get the hot new thing and had fun, no matter ,cuz life is short and who cares of unethical actions they push or the abuse employees get. I swear these people get the industry they deserve for their stupidity
It's not impressive...it's actually kinda boring. This guy a Drama Queen for sure and that's how he prolly gets paid to do. Over-Act(react) to everything to "drag" Queen it out. No offense to the Drags.
I think what he means by "Cut story and using that as a bait" is that they made story to last, let's say, 40 hours, then cut it into 10 hours with other part of the story release on later dates, artificially inflating game time.
there is no more story time ..dev confirmed it 2 times..the battlepass seasonal bs is just event stories added..new gameplay mechanics that only las ta season and never ever comes back lesty they say enough people want it back in the game but the main quest is all there is in the main story..nothing added anymore they made ity clear i guess the only story added will be an official dlc expansion some whererin the future..which is not seasonal
This guy pointed out something I have been saying for a long time now. Which is that the biggest reason the gaming industry is the way it is now is because of how mainstream it has become. I firmly believe that pretty much every modern issue in gaming stems from this in some way.
This is very true - if there's less overall gamers, game has to please the audience as much as can, to get big money with it. The market has simply changed, out of bigger audience the current way gives more profit. Leaders and owners of big game companies think about their products very differently, compared to gamers view.
It takes me back to gaming in the late 1990s and 2000s. I feel like video games as a hobby back then is a balance of popularity and niche. Video games back then felt like companies put in the effort and creativity into their work so that people would care to be in their work. Nowadays it feels like video game companies want to gather as many people as possible for what they can get away with in praise of their god called "Money".
Also we need to realize that though we may not like the change, we just need to deal with it instead of whining like an old man saying "Well, when I was your age....." times have changed, some good, some bad and in this case there is little we can do.
It's going to be very difficult to top the greed, mediocrity, and total incompetence that was Diablo 3's launch, but I have faith in Blizzard/Activision's ability to disappoint me greatly, so that no challenge will be unmet.
I understand the "that's just the way it is" point, but I think as gamers it is important to look deeper at how gaming companies have been treating us lately as consumers. It has become the norm to ship unfinished, buggy, monetized games that build a huge hype train and then fail to deliver on the vast majority of promises made until months after launch if at all. I sincerely hope that some time soon, game companies realize this and reverse this stance.
I just hope he's not buying D4 then cause he can't complain about how it's just the way it is and then drop money on the game 💀. Companies don't care what you say, they only listen to money.
Yes, as people, generally, we should all look deeper into why we shouldn't accept these practices. Ourselves, try to practice the virtue of patience when it comes to our own gratification in regard to how we approach gaming as a whole. It's a two way street, and we should also be critical of our part in it.
My guy asmon is so far up his ass defending blizzard. He admits that they will release the game "unfinished" and drop story updates every 3 months just for the battle pass and then he disagrees that they will be using the unfinished game as bait. My guy, please stop.
In regards to "cut content". I believe that people are thinking the battle pass with story could include stronger gear or a patch built behind them with higher level gear or "power" behind them resulting in a shadow subscription or pay to win model
It's the Destiny model, Blizz Activision has been trying too apply it for nearly a decade too their other IP's but Diablo is the only game with a audience so mentally ill they'll put up with it like Bungie fanboys do.
Wouldn't all games that have character progression and dlc be accused of "cut content" behind a paywall? Borderlands. Want to increase your max level and farm for all your gear all over again? DLC. Like, I love the romantic idea that a game company will sell you a game once and then spend the next 10 years offering free terabytes worth of content because they love you and their game, but, come on.
all the games have cut content costs money to make finished games and they get your money after you pay so they do not care if you play it for a day or a year same profits to them
Your age had nothing to do with you no longer caring how people spent their money towards the game would negatively impact the whole community. Your wealth did, it's because you're rich now that's why you no longer care. The rest of the world didn't get that lucky buddy
i'm 33 and i agree with more of what he says than the fleekazoid said. i'm middle class. i loved the beta and have been jonesing for release ever since. after a while i learned that the world is the way it is because there's so many people, whose actions contribute to making it the way it is. if i don't like it, i can change and be an example to others. you can even organize and take action if you want. but complaining on the internet about why you think blizz is doing something wrong won't do much. i'd recommend not buying the game or even making videos explaining why. take action. i also, as a middle class person who loved the beta, do not care about cash shops with cosmetics. as long as it isn't p2win i really don't care. to me, people who care about cosmetics are insane. it literally doesn't affect you at all. i think when you have enough going on in life at a later age, shit that literally has no effect on you doesn't live rent free in your head because you have more important shit to worry about.
You think asmon wasn't already rich when he poured salt on his head and spit on store mounts? Did people forget all that protest he did during WoW and all the protesting having zero impact? He just understood that unless everyone else protest too it doesn't do anything and screaming in to the void is just bad for his blood pressure so he's not going to do it anymore.
That is what I have been saying for a long time. every time he says that if a game is pay to win it doesn't matter, the important thing is that it's good, I laugh. he is right but at the same time not because he has the money to buy everything that comes out in the game and when a game is pay to win many times they make things difficult for you to get so that people despair and spend money. so as i always say the opinion of a millionaire about the pay to win never counts.
Why would anyone care why anyone spend their money regardless of anything. You can play a game however you want, or don't play it at all. The biggest problem is like he said, everyone has the internet -except homeless people- now any moron can express their opinions and other idiots can enforce it. "It is the way it is" no shit. Welcome to life. Your opinions aren't important.
When i was younger I didn't care how other people spent their money but now that I'm over 30 I care because I see the impact that rewarding companies for their bad behavior has had. That's why I don't support the vast majority of the companies with their predatory behavior. Eventually enough people will join me in not jumping on the bandwagon and companies will start to be incentivized to change
Watch horror games channels, it's a hidden gems in youtube, it's almost as better than pirating a game yourself, you get to see some silly reactions. Haven't bought any western mainstream games for years. Need for Speed Underground 2, NFS Most Wanted is the last'ish times games were good.

Asmon said it at the end. Theres not enough people saying no to these practices vs those who are just willing to give them money. Most of my friends and I gave sworn off Actiblizz, but theres just too many who dont to affect the profit margins enough to enact change. You have to be content with the decision and hope that someday enough of the gamer base will follow suit. It may never happen.
It's because the people who get a high from being first or being most by taking the easy route haven't felt the truth about what they lack taking that route yet. Put them in a game that effort is key and the only true currency and the game is top of the line and they will suffer and gaming will prosper.
@@goober69er The point of gaming is discovery and experience. You face your failings, your shortcomings, yet learn from them and the prizes born of overcoming them. Gaming opens many incredible doors. But when those doors are by passed by spending currency then there's no true gain, no true struggle with your failed reflection/fear. Character creations in most modern games are horrendous, it's like all the developers are afraid of boobs and/or sexy women but feel it acceptable to make all the females large or fat. Sure that should also be an option but damn, stop being afraid of good looks.
What people need to do if they're tired of things being the way they are is to start supporting Indie games. Quit waiting for the next AAA release and find a small studio that actually cares about the people who play their games.
I just realised that while commenting on another thread lol. There is the issue of making indie devs mainstream and turning them into corporate thieves too, but then switch to another indie dev, make the devs and publishers care about their game by proxy of caring about the profits they lose by under-delivering
In regards to starrail: Did you experience login queues? Did you experience bugs? Did you experience unbalanced content? Did you experience paywalls? Did you experience a broken economy? Did you experience obviously cut content? It is the way it is.
In regards to Genshin: You don't get anything that are mentioned plus every six weeks there's a new major event that advances story for it's characters, comes with 4-6 minigames. On top of that there are 4 more events that are also like minigames. All for free lmao. It's a shame that a live service game is more complete than a $90 AAA game. The said live service game has to pump out 18 months of content to get a total of $90 [$5 sub which is the ideal way of playing the game] whereas an AAA game simply takes your $90 upfront and release it with 58970 bugs.
in regards to Star Rail, a bunch of characters were recently leaked, up to what is assumed version 2.5 and if their current timeframe for updates is to go by, thats a 2 year plan. Granted, Star Rail was delayed due to licensing issues in China, and because its a gaccha game they sort of *HAVE* to do a slow rollout of what would be considered cut content
My brother Diablo 3 was released in 2012. Asmongold has become so desensitized by AAA gaming that he's just okay with the game being playable. You kind of have to, to keep people coming back to the game. I personally dont have a problem playing the game for 1 month and then come back for the next patch. You never get what you paid for. You dont insist on getting all legendaries, armors, gems or whatever just because you paid for it. It's a game as a service.

Im happy that Nintendo is showing us with the Zelda franchise that making a finished game and selling it without microtransactions is still something that can be done with success in modern times. Zelda Breath of the Wild sold 5 million on release and 29 million total as of today, and released as a finished game. Tears of the Kingdom is projected to release more than 10 million copies the first month.
@@trokolisz3702 I mean switch is an incredible system…soooo no that wouldn’t make sense. IP is protected firstly, then people will buy a switch just for said game. From a company the size of Nintendo they know what they are doing
@@LegaltTO I work professionally as a software engineer. What Nintendo did with Zelda:TOTK is massive in terms of scale and work from a perspective of programming. The game is 16 GB in total size, which is insane when you think of what modern games have reached in size. The only problem TOTK has is hardware of the switch where TOTK has pushed its limits too much. But beyond that, one may say "they reused the map", but reusing assets is not in itself a bad thing. I do not know if you have played TOTK but I am about 100 hours into the game and only 1/3 of the map is reused, and on that map, they changed about everything to make zones feel new, and even if they had not done that, it is not in itself a bad thing that they are reusing assets like that, because they had to continue from earlier work to be capable of doing what TOTK achieved. Again, what TOTK did is not possible for many big companies within a normal game development cycle without releasing a heavily bugfilled game. And sure, thats the US gaming industry standard and one might be fine with that, but I will take the polished game experience that Nintendo delivered any day. The lure or bait is a reference to them serializing the story and chopping it up as opposed to focusing on telling a good story. And then expanding on it later. Honestly it could go either way. If the seralization is done right they could turn out okay. But if not...
I would argue there's no way it could turn out okay. The obvious goal of the serialization is to stretch out the story as much as humanly possible which is the antithesis of good story telling.
How can you dictate what a chopped up version of a story is when you difnt write it or were not prevy to the games development. How can you say there were cuts unless you saw them cut it out of the game? You have no basis to make that argument unless you can prove things were cut and that the later released content was supposed to be in the initial game. You cant prove that.
@@xslayer59 because in order for them to release a narrative game there has to be a premise of which the game relies on for narrative. Will they tell an entire story to its conclusion for the main campaign? Or will it end on a cliffhanger for the season to continue drip feeding us the story? It's very easy to tell. We already know that there will be a season based on the cube. Was that stripped out of the game intentionally for content padding in "seasons"? With the introduction of seasons will we ever get a Diablo 4 expansion? Only time will tell.
@@xslayer59 Cuz they do that shit for years in their others IP's, namely World of Warcraft. Chopped up, time-gated story element that drag over whole seasons and almost always underdeliver. Unless we suddenly forget Blizz's track record in last 10 years and how they handled their games? Or heck, how they handled Overwatch 2 with it's pve story mode? C'mon now. Ofc they gonna chop up the story to keep players on a promise it's gonna be still good three months later laying in a safe. And fool will still log in to eat it and then be disapointed, but hey there's another part of the story that gonna be available 3 months later that will make it make sense! Promise!
Battlepass only have cosmetics and you can ignore that. Diablo 2 had Lord of Destruction expansion. What difference is it if Diablo 4 get one? Ingame store can be completely ignored. Always online? I have a hard time remembering when my internet actually has gone down.

He's making his thoughts clear by his actions. You know the saying. He still appreciates WoW for what it is, and the recent wow-ui nuke video shows that. He is, and remains, emotionally invested in WoW, and that is totally OK, the game is just not as great as some envisage it.
You cant put it like this, when streaming is asmons job and its expected of him that he'll stream the new content in wow when it gets updated, im sure you too would play a game for money if it was your job
As long as druids are forced to be fat, I'm on board with the criticism on the character creator. I couldn't give a damn about the other classes, and I hate the body type they've been given.
I think what he meant is the devs will cut the content and rhen dangle the carrot in front of the player to keep them coming back until that content is finally released, keeping the players present and spending money as long as they can while the cram the battlepass into as many areas as they can
For the internet argument. I got into Diablo when I was deployed overseas. No real internet and just my xbox. I don't want to play this type of game as a live game.
The character creator is good enough, but come on give us some black desert style sliders. It would kind of be low hanging fruit for them just pick a primary face and a secondary face and a slider to go between them. It probably wouldn't be too hard to make since the faces were probably sculpted off the same same base and probably have the same geometry and UV map. Also, can we get them for the body too?
@@diox8tony I had said nothing about 32 positions. If you actually read the comment and don't understand what I'm referring it's cool, do a quick google search for morph targets. No one ever said anything about infinite. However, lets assume you don't have any fine tune adjustments (eyes, nose, mouth, cheekbone, etc.) and only faces. 5 male faces so the combinations between two of them would be 10 (its a 5 choose 2 (nCr) ) if the sliders only had a resolution of 32 position like you mentioned (kind of an awkward way of limiting a float, but lets go with it) that would supply 320 different faces before selecting the skin for it. Is it infinite? No, but it is a lot more, out of the box that will quickly explode in combinations as they inevitably release more options though battle pass and in store purchase. Ultimately does it matter much? No, not really because how much should you care about approximately 30 pixels on your screen (other than the cutscenes you'll most likely be skipping).
Saying "thats just the way it is now" and " if you dont like it dont buy it" is not taking into account the reality of the current gaming culture. Gamers are no longer just enjoying a fun time. The Star Wars sequels could literally have been better if a college student Star Wars fan made them. Still they were one of the biggest financial success in movie history. Diablo 4 is going to be at least as bad as Diablo 3. As far as I'm concerned, Diablo ended with Diablo 2. All the people that bought into Diablo 3 are the ones responsible for this shit. People keep saying "It is the way it is", forgetting that a better mantra would be "This is not how it needs to be". Anyone that buys Diablo 4 should - 100% and completely unironically - be hung until dead. Also, you're absolutely wrong in thinking that "always online" stops piracy. It has nothing to do with whether something is easier or harder to pirate, but the fact that people that pirate are not your key demographic. All you'll be getting is lower sales.

Only solution isn't trying to beat the companies by "attacking their wallets". That doesn't work when someone else is spending hundreds or thousands on the game and making up for it.

That's just the way it [content] is now
Its so funn how many times Asmond was about to say 'thats the way it is' in this reaction video by accident and caught himself.

I sincerely hope that some time soon, game companies realize this and reverse this stance.

It's only the way it is because people keep paying. :D I'll wait for it to be like $30 CAD and just do the story campaign once.
I liked the big lady in the demo. She looks like she can actually wield a weapon.
That's just the way it is ~ 53 times
Gotta love how he tries to low-ball the "It's just the way it is" simple reply to what he doesn't like. He's tilted af with that response.
jesus bro, I'm guessing you don't ever leave your house
It's just the way it is ... but it doesn't have to be.
For the internet argument. I got into Diablo when I was deployed overseas. No real internet and just my xbox. I don't want to play this type of game as a live game.
If someone tells you something is the way it is, always remember that it also ain't the way it ain't.
Defending mannish women. Sad.
How is a slider with 32 positions different than 32 bubbles you click on?
Sliders are usually not infinite adjustments.

It's amusing how many people never learn to just wait before purchasing or pre-ordering.
Saying "thats just the way it is now" and " if you dont like it dont buy it" is not taking into account the reality of the current gaming culture.
Gamers are no longer just enjoying a fun time. Now they are psychology manipulated into becoming mindless consumers.
Its like telling a heroin addict that if they just stop doing heroin everything will be fine...
It isnt that easy. Asmond knows this because he is part of the problem.
"Just stop doing drugs" what a fool.
I was hyped, ready to buy when d4 first dropped the cinematic but after seeing the beta I can wait honestly
No you can't ! Buy it now...
no please go buy it
Just pirate it when it's ready.
Just go back to 2
never pre order games lmao these nowdays the companies always relaese bugg or unfinish games
I don't need to buy it at release, I always wait for the sale - I feel less tricked and fooled that way!
You won’t have to wait long. By Christmas, maybe a little, after it will be on sale lol
It will be on sale in 3 years
@@chaithethai9171 lmao… *sale in Christmas 🤣*
Diablo 4 is so doomed it will be at 20m+ players within the first year I'm sure. Diablo 3 did 14.5m players in the first year and that was on PC alone, Diablo 4 is on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4, and PS5 at launch.
Right
People will still buy d4 even if it pixel graphics
The Star Wars sequels could literally have been better if a college student Star Wars fan made them. Still they were one of the biggest financial success in movie history.
It’s just now after all these years we see people loosing interest in the shows slowly and steady.
People get hyped for the big name that was good in the past. Especially when Diablo 4 releases so rarely. And Diablo 3 was a pretty decent game. But if they continue to f things up, people won’t buy in the future
@@tchen8124 But theres nothing wrong with POE graphics? are you daft? or just silly?
Yeah look ppl are passionate that the game must be good thats were the hate and critisism comes from. Bottom line this will be the highest sold game on all formats ever. Highest played day one. Highest twitch viewer ship. And so on. Weve seen allready its way above ave so even if theres worries its mute. Its like if Big bang theory announces there coming back for one big hurrah and the first trailer is hillirious wtf aint gonna watch it???
Fleekazoid is a guy that just like those "big budget" titles and is alot like dunkey with the way his content is made
"That's just the way it is" - The Losers's Mantra
If anything is to be learned from the whole Bud light scandal, it is that consumers have the power, however gamers apparantly does not have the same lvl of integrety as beer drinkers! lol
It's easier to cause trouble when you're drunk.
We gamers are a sophisticated bunch, unlike those peasants who drink cat urine colloquially known as "light beer"
Lol that was fun
The stock price of that company is literally public information. It takes 3 seconds to google this and realize they aren't hurting at all lol. I know it's dominated the news cycle, but at the end of the day, the numbers do not reflect what you're claiming.
"Always online" meet Elden Ring
"... and it allows them to advertise more store things." And you want to support that practice?
This is certified Justthewayitisception.
On the topic of ‘everybody has the internet’. Just as an example I work in very remote areas 3-4 weeks at a time (fifo) some places I go to don’t even have reception let alone Ethernet ports. I take my laptop out with me so I can play some offline games just for the sake of playing something. It would be nice if big releases such as this have an offline feature for those doing it rough. I know it’s such a minor number of people though. Just would be great to see
The armors we saw in d4,wich were low lvl looked awesome enough to not need to ever buy any mtx. Show me another arpg with gear that looks as good, fuck even mtx ones in other arpgs don't look as good as gear in d4.
Why is this game still only using an isometric style camera? Why can't they give an over the shoulder perspective for exploration, and then pan back for combat? I feel like I'm staring at the ground when I play games like this.
Alot of people do this bait. Talk down about a game so bad but yet got it pre ordered and will be blasting on day one. Nothing new
I was on the fence of pre-ordering... Now I'm convinced I should stay away from d4
