From what I’ve been able to tell. When a game has a strict story to follow, his edits are toned back while other games that don’t have a consistent story are the acid videos.
I believe Max0r's Ultrakill videos stand in opposition to that theory.
@Normal People Like Me the story is a minority in Ultrakill unless you choose to follow it. Same thing with Elden Ring. You can play the game & skip most of the story entirely. It's there if you choose. Resident Evil prioritises the story more.
His incorrect summary of Metal Gear Rising is a hard counter to that notion.

I think I remember Max0r saying on an interview that he hates his videos after two or three weeks after posting; because he feels they are no longer good in terms of editing or narrative; because he's too perfectionist. He even had videos where he didn't like a lot of things but prefered to keep making it, otherwise he'll be stuck on it. So he chooses to finish it and improve on the things he didn't like.
I feel that. And he's a goddamn legend.

I think on Twitter he mentioned that he tried something a little new for this one focusing more on a story based video. The underlying basics of his crazy editing are still there but there's more stuff to grab onto rather than the flashing lights of like ultra kill. That being said ultrakill part 2 is still my favorite
This is actually more back to form than usual, if you look back before ultrakill his video are more story based but with him and his mates dubing over the mouth flabs to tell jokes, just watch his metal gear rising and before and you will see
The slower ones are intentional, they tend to be the shorter episodes in are usually the filler episodes of his contant.
As for the voice actress for Ashley, that would be koneko lumi who is in her own words “ our favorite tard, she’s a part of these connect, which is the same company that Pippa pipkin is a part of so be ready for a special kind of crazy

If you enjoy Maxor, then I would heartily recommend Ssethtzeentach. Seth and Maxor are similar in how they explain things, but Seth generally reviews older games and likes explaining funny ways to break the game. Seth voiced Gideon in Maxor's elden ring videos, so just imagine him voicing entire videos with that cadence and tempo.

The juxtaposition of unhinged humour and calm delivery is great, especially because it can lead to some jokes catching you completely unaware.
One of the greatest masters at this that I know is "MandaloreGaming" *(Who is a literal secret boss in ULTRAKILL btw)* , who does game reviews in a very serious, genuinely informative way, speaking in a very calm and collected way. All this lulls you into a flase sense of security, so that the sometimes brilliantly subtle, sometimes completely unhinged jokes completely blindside you.
Some of his reviews might even be worth reccomending for a reaction vid, for example his review of "Mystery of the Druids"
Its funny that you mention that this video isnt as insane as, other than the 3 videos youve watched before, this is his usual style (telling the story in his own twisted funny style like an abridged series) its why people tell you to watch his metal gear rising revengance alot (other than it being his best work and most popular videos) cause his back catalogue is all this style like you saw, he gets his mates together to voice act and dub over the characters and mixes it with his on peak comedy
maxors videos are an insane training for multitasking. i had problems at first, but now i can follow without a problem. if you have watched him for over 2 years and still cant follow, im sorry but thats just a skill issue at that point =)

As someone who used to help make halo 3 trick shot videos. This is very much approved. He would make a award winner editor for them back in the day. I mean he still is today. But my god he would of make our “snipers United” video so much better.

Resident evil 4 is one of the greatest games ever made, you should absolutely give it a go.
The vid here is showing the remake, not the original. You cant really go wrong with either, but the two are quite different in a lot of ways.
I slightly prefer the original, but like i said both are great. Whichever version you play first, you should also check out the other afterwards.

Yeah, curiously his editing has tamed a bit since the Ultrakill videos in terms of pacing. They're still outrageously fast, but much more coherent. The Elden Ring and Metal Gear Rising vids are a bit more ridiculous, kind of a middle ground between this and Ultrakill.
The OG Resident Evil 4 is one of my favorite games ever, and despite only playing the demo it seems like the Remake is even better. So, I would definitely recommend playing it if you're interested.
It'll probably be a long time with how big Elden Ring is but Max0rs review on it is probably the one video I know of where he uses like three different gacha game franchise tracks throughout the video and one happens to be from Girls Frontline as the credits.

If you're still wondering if you should play RE4 Remake, the answer is "yes, but play RE2 Remake first". It's the start to Leons story in the Resident Evil franchise and knowing the events of RE2R will give greater weight to RE4Rs narrative(which is significantly stronger than OG RE4). Of course, you don't have to play RE2R to enjoy RE4R, I'm just making the recommendation to do so because I grew up with this series and am very biased. Either way, I'd love to see you playthrough this game because I think you'll really enjoy it.

Well aside from every Max0r video, i suggest SsethTzeentach videos, specially the one from Hardspace Shipbreakers, one of the last he uploaded but any other video of his is a treat.
A Game I recommend is Jojo Eyes of Heaven (though play that game story after part 6) and Jojo All Star Battle R its a great fight game for jojo
ALso Maxor's Ace Combat 7 and Ace Combat Zero's videos are top quality

Max0r's re4 vid is way slower than many of his previous video, atleast the editing and music sections is peak as usual, this particular vid have a 68 days date difference to the previous video and i assume he took 45+ days out of 68 just to edit this vid, also apparently max0r's is dissapointed at how the last two videos he made have very low attraction so the next video he'll made is not a second part for re4 but rather a third part for the long awaited elden ring series

Maxor is getting on well with the Phase Connect agency, as Lumi is the 2nd vtuber from their EN lineup in his videos. Now if only he can get Tenma in one I'll be just that little bit more happy.
Max0r and Tenma would be too powerful of a combo. Pippa may be unhinged, but she has a limit before she moves on. Tenma on the other hand is not as unhinged, but can keep the madness going for a long time.
Funny you mentioned Ultrakill, because Maxor used the same VA he used for V2 to voice the Mendez (mormon centipede)

You don’t have to worry about getting copyright strikes from Max0r’s music. He mentioned in an interview that he uses soundtracks from 3rd party Chinese games. For some reason their music is unexpectedly amazing.
I did notice that this one was a bit slower paced than usual, but I honestly don't mind it. One of the aspects about Max0r's videos is that his writing is usually really hilarious, so I don't mind the slower pacing of the editing.
If you want another game review channel with some hilarious writing, I'd highly recommend some of Scott the Woz's videos. My personal favorites to start with would be "Eek! Emulation", "Onechanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers", "Sonic 3D Blast | "3D" "Blast"", "The Rise and Fall of 2D Gaming", and "Ride to Hell: Retribution | Art"

9:45 You aren't the first one to notice that. This vid seems to have a much different, slower time than his more recent videos, such as his Ultrakill ones or the MGR vids.
It's more akin to his Devil May Cry 5 videos in terms of visual stimulation, while having the editing quality of his newer ones.

If you're into the (relatively) more subdued Max0r content, I highly recommend watching his video on Yakuza 0, it's actually my favourite on his channel. It's a very different insanity from Ultrakill, but just as hilarious. Also, Ashley was voiced by a vtuber named Kaneko Lumi from PhaseConnect, you can look her up!

RE4 is definitely one of the must-play REs. I haven't played the remake, but the original at least is not only one of the must-plays, but one of the most important games ever made.

I am now convinced The Merchant is just another character like the player who goes around hoarding items he loots all over the place. MF's on a looting speed run through the map. That's the reason why it becomes "survival" horror for Leon, because dude's already looted the place and left very little for others to scrounge for. Then, we get to the reason why The Merchant always seems to be in a room that Leon still has to unlock. Why? Because The Merchant got there first and has to lock the door himself so the baddies can't get to him. Only reason he's selling his loot is because Leon is the only other person there who actually bothers to trade stuff with him for the guns. At the very least, the villagers probably have emptied his stores of "melee" implements...to use on Leon, of course. 😁
Okay so for recs might I suggest: pretty much anything by SsethTzeentach (Read: "Zeentack") I'm gonna suggest some of my favorite game 'reviews' from him in order of least out of pocket to most: Hardspace: Shipbreaker, Deep Rock Galactic, and Morrowind.

Easily the best one he's made
Both the origanl resident evil 4 and the remake are masterpieces
My father preordered the original one out of country(in mine it was censored) back then and got the resident evil 4 concept book and guide with it(also the very cool collectible chainsaw ps2 controller)
It was as thick and big as an atlas. With all the veeeery hidden stuff, trivea and concepts that went into making this game.
It also had lots of Easter eggs in it and didn't tell about certain stuff chapters later.
It was perfect for the second completionist run of his.
Would strongly recommend Max0r's 3 Incorrect Summary of Elden Ring videos. Those are straight bangers, especially since I think I recall you saying you played it a bit.
That's as far as Max0r goes. There's other stuff I'd recommend, but those 3 definitely. Moon and Stars is part 1, Serpent and King is part 2, and Blood and Fire is part 3.
If possible, I would highly recommend Bricky. He's got several great vids. From the Red Alert vids, Frost Punk, and even my personal favorite; Peggle
