The love and respect you have for each other is clear to see.. out of all of the Donkeys it was Phoebe that I thought would be the escape artist not little Jessie who got all of the shocks..Reba is hard core..didn't affect her one lil bit with that fleece still on..she looks like she is growing well but then I look at RJ and realise its probably all fur..rhe donkey poodles are too clever to go near them..except for Reba of course..are you worried about Earl or lil Gemma getting a shock ?

I do this all the time at my place. Alpacas are rarely pushy on fences. I'm concerned about the donks getting too much green grass and foundering. Donkeys are from a very dry climate and get extremely overweight on grass, and the high sugars in the spring can lead to laminitis. You'll need 3 strands for the donks.

We used 7 jule for sheep that stoped that
I used to set up temporary pastures with plastic posts and regular hot wire. I'd tie pieces of caution ribbon to the wire so the animals could see it. It was a lot cheaper than buying that hot wire tape. Once, when a young, curious calf was in the pasture he tried to lick the caution tape. Well, he learned about hot wire.
Whenever I would change the pasture, I would walk the wire and lead them around so they knew where the boundary was.
They sure are enjoying that tall grass. Glad it looks like it's going to work !

Jason at Cog Hill uses electric flexible fencing even for his cattle and birds. Theirs is a much finer mesh. Might check with Jason.
Poor Jessie. You would think she would learn after the 1st shock. Silly girl. Look like they all were injoying the tall grass. Felt sorry for Steve though. Great job 👏 fixing the fence but it really needs to be lowered. I hit a fence like thst years ago . Hurt like heck l now bettr now.
Make sure the grass nothing is touching the electric fence and put 3 wires in your fence brother

Just put the bottom wires higher,you might need two solar charger one for each wires it makes it stronger voltage for each instead of half for each and the distance of the wires.

You could always run a 3rd strand to cover all heights
Maybe a 3rd hot wire between the other 2 hot wires would be a better security for them all with equal space between them. Better to be safe than sorry.

I would buy another roll of ribbon and put a 3rd / middle wire up. I had to put up a hotwire to keep the dog out of the garden and the charger was a huge one that was for 10 miles of fence solid on , No pulsing and that thing would send a spark about an inch to bite you, each dog got bit once and me too and they never went near the fence again. As long as the wire was up they stayed clear, can't say the same for my neighbour lady. I put up signs every 15 ft warning "Electric Fence" and she would light herself up every time she watered, every time she hit the wire with the water she flung that hose.

Hey Daniel, with hairy critters like native British ponies we used a metal dog chain collar. It rubs it's way down to the skin on the top of the neck and fastened with a carabiner it dangles down onto the electric fencing should the animals be close enough to be testing it. That way the shock is more predictable and thus effective. The collar has to be short enough not to pass over the head when the animals are grazing but any excess can be left to dangle.
I thought DeJay was the property mower and I like how respectful Weston is by calling you “Sir”.
