Using the term ‘gaming handheld’ is misleading, that would imply it has internal components and can do things on its own, this is entirely reliant on having a device already able to do what you want just so you can display to this, and it doesn’t even come with a controller.
Its purpose with the joycon rails and built in connection to Ds4 is for gaming and is similar/superior to a ps portal which is considered a gaming handheld. However yes it can be termed monitor as well barring the intended purpose.

If your emulator supports a second screen yes, you can easily put it in either extended display mode on your windows setting. I have used it in extended mode splitting windows. However Iv not tried it with 3ds in particular. That being said it operates exactly like a windows 2nd screen so it should be fine. Do note that if you connect joycons to it you will have to use ds4windows because this automatically has a built in ps4 controller mode.

Waste of money, this is only an infrared (line of sight) hdmi receiver. Have fun keeping the back of the device pointed towards the transmitter that is most likely connected to your console sitting under your TV.

Tbh I’d rather have the crossplane if it would of succeeded in indegogo as it actually was a good solution for streaming consoles to a handheld with extremely low latency. Was from reputable console modders too. That way I could play console games without emulation with 100% compatibility. I was hoping this product would be like it but no.
a steam deck is hardware limited this has no limitation as in any pc board can be directly hooked up to it, streaming accurate color contrast dlss nic over moonlight or any app is not workable it's a completely different experience.

A Steam Deck or similar, has the console part built in. In that way you can bring it with you wherever and game on the go. Or, again, as a cheaper option, go with a G Cloud and you can stream pretty much anything to it wherever you are and not paying out of your behind. But each to their own.
You don't need a monitor tv at all and it with any single board PC hence it can be taken anywhere outside. Such as Nvidia Jetson latte panda or android boards. Iv only shown it with my phone but any board works.

Ya you need to have your ps5, xbox, pc or whatever the handheld is only used as the monitor with game paddles thats it, you may as well get like the backbone controller that holds your phone and you can play your ps5 or xbox on it and its dirt cheap

If I owned no gaming consoles & then I bought this, I would have no ability to game. Not sure if "Universal Gaming Handheld" is applicable.
