I know the "in or out" PSA isn't exactly scary, but it kinda unnerved me when I first saw it because I used to think someone was actually watching my house. Which is another reason I don't like being left home alone. We live out in the country
Thanks heaps and yeah exactly that's why I definitely though it deserved a spot on this list as it doesn't rely on scaring the shit out of people but is still quite effective
Number 10: I think its common for some people in the UK to keep their bike in the hallway depending on where they live and stuff, it was where I lived in the UK at least
Sees the Christmas tree fire psa “Good lord what is happening in there?” “Aurora borealis” “Aurora borealis, at this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of this country loco, used entirely within this living room?”
With the cost of living crisis we could probably remake number 17. Keep your lights off, the burglar might rob you. Keep your lights on, the electric companies will.
Live with it straight up traumatised me as a kid, specifically the shot with the kid under the desk - I think it was because of the zoom in on the lifeless face. Still creeps me out.
some of my thoughts on these: can't feel it coming: this one just gives me the creeps, idk why. it feels like one if those old screamer jumpscare videos (also tonys chocoloney is the best, Cadburys second) torture by another name: ok this ones personal. it's a very stereotypical view of trafficking but not necessarily inaccurate imo. also the helen bamber foundation are pretty awesome, ive worked with them before and they were so helpful :) save the boy: one of my faves! the first time I watched it I was heartbroken when I realised the lady wasn't there to save the kid cut: honestly not sure what to think abt this one. I like the creativity of how they portray dv through a film set, but it feels a little surface level to me break the cycle: pretty good psa, but I have a massive soft spot for barnardos so I'm biased lol nightvision: they showed us this psa and others in like year 1 or 2 of primary school??? scared the absolute shit out of all of us. also its super common in the uk to have a bike in the hallway lol both sams psas: I love these and I love the sams
17:36 1) She is an old woman and probably doesn't have the strength to do so. 2) People do that for some reason. They keep bikes in their houses because they don't have a garage, to prevent someone stealing them.
In a moment like that you would try and find something to break the window but some people are dumb haha. And yeah I know since London homes are quite small, still odd though
My question is why the door is locked to the point she can't get out. That's not how a front door lock works, shouldn't she be able to turn the lock or something to get out? That never made sense to me.
I’m really biased when I say that I admire Alan Shearer for participating in the ‘Can’t Look’ ad, mainly because he’s from my hometown. He’s a great bloke and great role model.
Have you guys watched the “Electrical Graffiti” PSA from the mid-90s? It features a grown up version of Andy, the third boy featured in ‘Powerful stuff’ same actor and everything. Man to think the first two sets were aired during regular cartoons in their respective decades, that musta frightened the shite outta if young kids by the thousands😱
I am glad that the Christmas fire psa is outdated cause that would be scary as hell especially since I’m watching this around Christmas time considering there’s less than a 0.1% chance of it happening
20:43 these kind of effects only work when practical as shown by this original nightmare on Elm Street don’t do it with CGI cough cough nightmare on Elm Street remake
I found out since 2 women die a week from domestic violence that's means 730 women die from domestic abuse, I'm beyond disappointed and disgusted by the men that kill those victims

Good list. Like the inclusion of Come on Dave, that one is usually slept on but I think it's way more impactful than the super gory ones as you say.

i love the scream PSA, it’s just the sounds hurt my ears. i think it’s probably my 3rd of 4th favorite
As someone who's favourite animal is fox's, I wasn't ready for the chase one 😢

not gonna lie, thought the first one was about the band
when I first saw number 20 I thought it was a pun
and was referring to Gorillaz the band.
which was really funny.
Gorillaz is a pun. A group of gorillas is called a band.

British PSAs are called PIFs, btw. Nice video, either way
