As much as they butchered the Frozen World, the fact you get Marshmallow as a party member and the epic boss fights more than makes up for it.

Ah... I liked the world a lot because it has the most interesting platforming and shotlock use in the game, especially in the dungeon. But yeah, Marshmellow is the best partner in the game and Hans is a great boss fight.

It's really neat to see a Heartless based on mythology and actual lore, with Sköll being based on the wolf god of the same name.

Apparently the people that worked on Frozen (Chris Buck, Jennifer Lee, Peter del Vecho, Michael Gaimo, etc..) were consultants for the Frozen world in KH3 along with giving the KH team ideas and notes on the designs for the Heartless that are exclusive to this world (the Reindeer, the Skeleton Ice Dragon/Serpent, and Sköll (The Ice Wolf Boss)).
The wolf isn't exactly a god, like his father, Fenrir, he is a giant(Jotnar).

Ladies and gentlemen, the coolest boss in kingdom hearts 3. A giant freakin heartless wolf named after one of the wolfs that swallow the sun and the moon, bringing out about ragnarok in norse mythology. It pounces around, it bites you, claws at you, summons smaller versions of itself to attack you, it jumps into the freakin sky and turns into a giant ball of darkness that majora's masks onto you, raining wolf fire in the process. Goddamn, I love this boss
And it's based on the worst twist villain of Disney. Chad.

If some of these heartless bosses had some form of dialogue, something like some grunts or screeching noises or something unintelligible that while sora and co don't really understand it gives us the audience some insight into what they're thinking while in this dark state of mind

In my opinion, Marshmallow was the MVP in this boss fight. One of my favorite party members in Kingdom Hearts 3. Plus, this music makes the boss fight really fun and epic.

That is why Phil has no lines in this game.
ThiefRikku0306 the difference is Master Xehanort has too important of a role in the plot for them to actually do that,
so even if they wanted they can’t treat him with “the character died with the actor” kind of thing they usually do out of respect
The powers and abilities Skoll displays really showcases how evil Hans is. That thing rivals Maleficent imo.
There is a possibility he will get redemption in the sequel.

Honest to god, I wouldn't have ever enjoyed going through Arendelle if they didn't make Marshmallow the party member, and had such an epic boss like Sköll. Both Marshmallow as the party member and the fight with Sköll truly made up for it. Still though, it's pretty sad knowing that the possible reason for the plot for Arendelle was so messy and confusing was probably because it was originally going to be based on the original concept of Elsa being the villain but Disney was extremely strict with Frozen in Kingdom Hearts 3 that they couldn't keep it in. And yeah, while that is simply a theory and it wasn't confirmed, it's extremely likely that that's where the direction for Arendelle's story was going for.
4:56 is one of the most awesome moments in the entire game, imo!

Can we just take a moment to appreciate just how cinematic the fights in KHIII feel? I mean, between this fight, the three Xehanorts, Round II in Scala as Caelum, the UFO in Toy Box, the Baymax boss, the battle at the Tower in Corona, and literally every fight with the Titans in Olympus, this game does a good job of creating boss battles that make you feel like a badass for beating them. Something there Kingdom.Hearts games have always been good at, when you think about it. Your powers just have a certain presence that I don't think any other game series really pulls off. JRPG or otherwise.

I think I'm starting to realize why Organization XIII wanted to extract Heartless out of Disney characters...this is what they wanted 😳😳...this was an amazing boss fight with superb music. Hearing Sora yell "You got this" really made me wanna tear up🥺😊

I've read that Organization XIII were disgusted by hans' pettiness since he essentially tried to trigger Armageddon out of spite.
Two things made me sad about ths part.
1. Hans had no lines
2. Hans didn't get Sucker Punched by Anna in the end (but this part was Understandable, since he became a Heartless, but in turn, Wessleton lost their douche prince, so win/win, i guess)
Hans is from the Southern Isles, not Weasel Town, I mean, Wessleton.

While i found the world itself to be a bit a letdown, this amazing fight more than made up for it.

I hated every second of this. The fact that it's Frozen, the way it padded out, the poor implementation of the plot and how literally NOTHING is shown or explained to people that may not have even seen the film, the incoherence of shit, the random party member that didn't show up until you were almost done!
All of it was painful... But this fight made it so worth the torment
I liked the Arendele world a lot. It used Shotlock well, platforming was interesting, bosses were cool af.
I liked having marshmallow as a party member, this epic boss and strangely enough, I liked the ice dungeon but that’s about it. One reason being that I don’t really like frozen as a whole so there’s that but the world itself can be summarized in one word “snow”

Well if you had them fight Sora in normal form they'll die in one hit. I mean, Gothel cannot fight and Hans can barely swing a sword. Turning them heartless was the obvious choice here. They aren't Oogie Bogie, Jenie Jafar, Scar, Maleficent, Hades, Barbosa, Davy Jones...
I expected the giant Heartless to be like a giant polar bear monster with saber teeth and going by the name of “Ragnalanche” a play on the words “Ragnarok” and “avalanche”

Seeing Hans getting a proper ass kicking...I've been dreaming about this moment for 5 years after I saw him trying to kill Anna and Elsa in the first time.
This whole world was a huge disappointment, but this boss fight redeemed it.
How was it disappointing? The only thing I found disappointing was that we didn’t get to go to the actual arendelle village and coronation
IIRC, Disney had such a chokehold on this world's development, that it just had no chance of being good. Thankfully, Hans was here to _liven this fother-mucker up!!_
@@tyus2625 It was disappointing because it didn't even feel like I'm in Arendelle anymore in so many spots. It felt like I was just in a winter level. I mean, okay Disney was kinda strict with this one. But atleast give me the feeling that I'm still in Arendelle!

@@Drover26 Well, that's impossible, yeah Hans have held his own against Marshmallow, but by the look of him, he's not even fighter, much less commander of the army.
So chances for him against Sora was slim.

Maybe they could’ve made the world’s more interesting if they went with Sora looking at things from the villains perspectives at first. Realizing how they’re wrong. Telling them so. It would show how he’s strong and not easily corrupted, and also how he really doesn’t approve of bad behavior. It would’ve been interesting from a thematic perspective, as we’re fighting Xehanort at the end.
Like, part of the reason we learn so much from these stories is because we see the way the villains act and how it’s wrong. We see that their possessive natures are anti ethical to love and friendship.
It would’ve made Sora’s conversation with Xehanort stronger.
“The world needs someone to stand up and lead!!”

Hans doesn't speak because much like Phillips VA his Japanese VA passed away an the tradition is to make the character mute outta respect.

I knew I wasn't the only one who thought that.
I think Scar and Hans are the only ones in the series who don't just turn into heartless _immediately_ after dying*, but turn into boss-level heartless.
*Shrapnel from the exploding sword or the shockwave itself apparently killing Hans in this version.
The way Donald says "Let's get it" as the camera pans around and then the second the fight starts he yells, "HUNT IT DOWN" ... That makes you want to kick ass

One of my disappointments is that we never truly got to team up with Elsa in a fight like this. It would have been interesting to see Sora use her ice powers as an assist.
The world itself was fun to play and awesome boss but God it was a damn dissapointment in the story department. We interact with Elsa once, ONCE! I would've loved to have Elsa as a party member...you know, someone who's kind of the star of the movie?

Ah, Skoll, you crazy demon ice-wolf, you. You saved Arendelle from being a completely crap world. You have our gratitude for that.
I think Skoll is done a disservice by the lackluster quality of Arendelle in general, because this is a Grade-A boss fight. This belongs in a masterpiece of a world, not the slow, repetitive, mundane rehash that was Arendelle proper. There's an entire video done by Game Theory on a potential Frozen level that was cut from the game late in development, and it's actually pretty cool, but if you don't want to leave the boss fight video right now, here's the long and short of it: Like Beast from KH2, Elsa would have been manipulated by Larxene and maybe another Org. XIII member into giving into her inner darkness, with her palace taking on a more threatening, labrinthian interior and Marshmallow siding with Sora and company to save her. Skoll was originally her Heartless, not Hans', and Sora would have had to use the Power of Waking to bring her back to the light. So not only did Disney deny us the potential for a conflicted, manipulated descent into darkness for Elsa, but they ALSO denied us the potential to make the Disney worlds actually relevant to the story for once! F*ck you, Disney! You are the reason we can't have nice things!

Skôll is honestly my most favourite heartless ever to date..namely because my spirit animal happens to be an almost white wolf..who prefers darkness and cold...also it's theme and the way it battles...summoning a giant huge METEOR OF DARKNESS...
P.S..it's the wolf who chased the sun just so it could devour it and the light it created...and if I remember clearly succeeded.. I bet if sora and the others didn't beat it Skôll would of gone on to devour everything
Just imagine that you had to fight both Sköll and Hati. Kill both wolf giants and trigger ragnarok in Arendelle
This was the hardest boss on level 1 proud, I couldn’t stand him. Took about 5 hours to beat 😥 but it was easily the best design in the game
Now do it on Critical
It was easy for me, but that marshmallow boss almost made me kill someone

why are people saying that Hans himself turned into a Heartless??? he's fine he was just knocked out cold..... its just that the Darkness within him was so powerful that it slithered out of him manifested into something ferocious
For those of you who think this boss fight is cool, you'll find that the original draft of Arendelle level was even cooler (no pun intended). If you watch MatPat's theory on KH3's original Frozen level draft, you'll learn that Elsa was originally meant to be the villain of the level, brought into despair due to her internal conflict about her powers and Organization 13's pushing, and saved by our lovable trio with Marshmallow making her realize her powers could be used for good. Unfortunately, Disney axed that original draft because of a desire to 'protect the brand' so to speak. When you think about it, it's actually kinda sad. That Disney tried way too hard to protect their most iconic franchise, even going so far as to axe an entire level and forcing Square Enix to repurpose it, but in doing so, accidentally gave us one of the worst levels in the entire game and basically tarnished their own creation. Now,boss fight, sure, cool and all, but level, nah. Disney's their iwn worst enemy sometimes..
Yeah, Nomura had big ideas for the Arendelle world.
Unfortunately, Disney being Disney, he couldn't bring them to fruition.

I just completed this world and strangely enough this is the best boss battle so far
just loved this boss, the music made this fight even better
So thats why Hans became evil all of a sudden... He was possessed by the Heartless.
This is the hardest Disney boss in my opinion
