The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak is an exciting new start for the series. With an awesome new cast of characters joined by a handful of familiar faces, it’s a welcoming point to jump in fresh while also rewarding veteran players for returning. Daybreak’s updated hybrid battle system still has a few kinks to work out with its real-time elements, but enhanced movement options and other impressive tweaks make the turn-based aspects better than ever. Wrap that up in an engaging story full of political drama and a compelling new setting, and Daybreak is exactly what the Trails series needed to reach new heights.

As a Trails fan this is so true.
I’m just happy to see the Trails series getting more recognition. Mixing turned based with real time combat is a pretty cool playstyle and judging by how the unlocalised sequel and the new Kai no Kiseki games look, it will only get better.

Not in English, at least officially. It was only available in Japanese/Chinese until now

This is the 11th entery, 12th still not translated and the 13th is coming in September 2024
Soon to be 13 in japan(this one is 11th). And believe it or not the end of the series is in sight, there will be 2 more story arcs(according to president of Falcom) so at minimum 4 games(but probably more).
Too many. Remember, each of these are 100 hours long and must be played in order. Also very slow start. Yikes

Man, this game is seriously GOLD! Especially in this current wokefuckshit climate. And whomever did the translation seriously needs to be given a triple promotion!
The revamped battle system is so enjoyable and makes it that much easier to grind for levels.
As a bonus, Falcom also gives lovely treats here and there for those who’ve played the series since the beginning. Way back from the Sky Arc.

They did not ditch. They just mixed/added Ys action fight before turn-based but you press but you can do all the fights full turn-based.

Falcom is a mid-tier dev house who intentionally makes games under a controlled budget, this is one of the reasons they are so awesome. Who cares if the graphics aren't perfect? The game is great and that's all that should matter. It's great to see a responsible business in this industry that doesn't push for out of control budgets and genuinely cares about their fans.

My review: They did an excellent job on introducing new combat system but lost their way on the main selling point of the series - story. 7/10.
Daybreak turns out just a first step going downhill, the sequel is barely playable even for 20 years hardcore fans and no surprise Daybreak 3 canceled
It wasn't canceled tho. Another name but the same main cast. They did it before with Trails to Azure.
Check out Kai no Kiseki (aka Daybreak 3), before you spread misinformation.
@@yon1337 Daybreak 3 is canceled and merged into Kai, the last part of Republic story serves as a chapter of Kai then new beginning for next chapter, Rufus and another character take the lead.That’s how Kai pushes 20% progress to 90% in one title.Also Kai literally means “the boundary between two divisions ”
