For context, take all heavy metal after 1981 and sweep it off the table, it didn't exist yet, this was a big step forward for heavy metal as a genuine genre beyond hard rock of the late '70's, total game changer not just for the music but that now classic album cover.
Clive Burr only recorded 3 albums. The last one in 1982 (The Number Of The Beast) and then he was painfully replaced by Nicko McBrain (for the band members it was a painful change because Clive was very loved and did not leave due to technical limitations or poor performance). In my opinion, he was the best drummer the band ever had. I place him one step above Nicko, because the sensations and emotions that Clive aroused in me when he was listening to Iron Maiden's early work were not generated by Nicko. Regarding Nicko, I think I also love his style, but it is a taste acquired over the years (I love the entire Maiden discography except the last album of 2021, which seems too dense and repetitive for me).
Clive Burr on drums, Paul Di’Anno on vocals.UP THE IRONS! 🤘🏻
Rest in Peace Paul, will be so sadly missed and God Bless (1958-2024)🙁😟😢🙏
