Thanks for watching. Ride Safe!
Ideal bike for touring Phil.
Thanks for that. I really liked how you talked about your leg starting to cramp. That could be an issue for me. I also liked how you talked about how easy it is to ride slow.
great video, i ride a VSTROM 650 myself in addition to my ZX10R. The Vstrom is a great bike, I had similar experiences on buffeting to you, keep up the good videos, SFR i also subscribed to your channel
+SFR SanFranciscoRider Thank you, much appreciated.
They are under rated bikes.
I ride mine like a sport bike all the time
Funny seeing a glimpse of myself at the start of your video!
Nobody escapes the camera heheh
Ha true. Good review by the way.
Nice Test Ride Phil, I bet it did feel quite tall for you, it's one of the reasons I've not test rode one, couldn't risk my left leg giving way with the high, RSM8.
+Skeggy Cruiser Even with the lower seat they put on, it was still a bit on the tall side. I was told that even tall people who buy them opt for the lower seat for extra comfort and stability.
"Oh it's a lubricant, I thought it was rust." I said exactly the same thing on all bikes I was riding that day. It must be a smart move from Suzuki to use rust coloured lubricant, as you can't tell the difference when it actually starts rusting!
+Phil Tonic nothing like an unbiased review
+Phil Tonic Haha, I thought it was a bit of an odd colour. Smart move indeed!
I have a 2013 and I love it. would buy another in a second
I know a few people who own them now and they say the same
yes good video, ridden the 1000, and was very impressed, comfortable and plenty of torque, but you are right they are tall and not for everyone.
+Peter Gunton If I can fit on the 1000 if that has a lower seat option, it would be interesting to have a go and see how different it is.
hi phil thanks for the stickers got them to day I will send a pic soon of were I've put them on my bike and still working on a design for my stickers
+tml136 Good to hear, send me a pic when you've stuck them and I'll add it to the collection on Facebook.
Good review on the bike & Suzuki's hi-viz lol
Did you say that you'll be reviewing sv650 next m8?
It's a bike i'm thinking about getting & the Yamaha 700 Tracer thats out in july.
+sharky09000 Yes, the SV650 video should be live by next weekend. I think spicy has put his review of it up already.
Just watched it lol & he was very happy with it ; )
Next time we meet u should have a go on my Honda CB500x, much the same ergo as the V-storm but with a more revvy engine.
+urbanfireblade I'll take you up on that as its one I do want to have a go on. Captain Cranky has one.
I was surprised how well rounded the adventure-tourer is when I first got mine - agile enough, as fast as you'd want for touring, torquey, stable, comfortable, capable of carrying full luggaeg and able to handle a bit of rough road.
I'll hafta try to catch you at Loomies, you can try my [to be revealed] - see how it compares to the V-Strom. The seat height (795mm) should be similar to the lowered V-Strom I'm guessing.
+Draycos Ooh, a mystery test ride haha. Sounds good, I might be up there on Saturday afternoon.
nice review pal :)
+DropaGear Thank you!
just bought a 650 xt very nice bike
They sell a lowering kit in combination with the Lo seat could get u where u feel mor comfortable on it . C Mr Aus watched ur vid he’s got great vids with his partner in crime captain cranky tell them I said hello from U.S. & hello to u too . Great fun vid on great bike for the $$$$$.
Thanks Mark! One day, I wish to visit Australia and ride with Mr Aus and Captain Cranky!
Let me no I’ll go too looks like big fun there lol.
Very good
the only thing I'd add would be cruise control. Next model update please Suzuki... oh and make it a little more aggressive looking.
+Dazzle Rebel Rides Yes, cruise control would be a good feature. Would be good if it was ride by wire and had different riding modes, but then I guess they haven't done that to keep the price tag low.
How tall are you? I'm thinking of getting the 2005 model as a long-road bike. I'm only 1.75m tall .. so I might be a bit of a tight match for a v-strom.
+DragosDreamer1989 I reckon you should be okay. I'm 1.60m so you shouldn't have a problem. They did say that some taller people actually preferred the lower seat so you sit more "inside" the bike. Plus makes getting on and off a bit easier when you're fully luggaged up.
Wow O_O .. Well if you could ride it, then I definitely should be able to. Thanks for the quick reply, mate ;).
+DragosDreamer1989 No worries, happy to help. Bear in mind that the 1000cc version is taller but I've never tried that one.
Well, it only took me 2 years to make it to this video!
Who is that weird MrAusAdventure that you mention in this video?
One of the local V-Strom guys I know messaged me and asked me if I'd seen this video as it mentioned me in it! HaHa!
I do remember starting watching this video a long time ago, but must have been distracted and then never came back to finish it.
Most of my test rides have been on organised group rides like this one. I was initially disappointed in the concept at first but got used to it and don't mind it.
The buffeting is an issue with a lot of people. I get it a bit, but not too bad. Nothing that bothers me anyway. It will glide over the bumps on a bitumen back road rather nicely. I've had a mate on a naked bike behind me in a lot of pain due to all the bumps we were hitting, but he said that my body was completely still as I glided over the bumps. lol
Welcome along hahah!
I have had the same buffering issues on the Tigers as well so I think it’s just one of them things, either live with it or just take the screen off haha.
I test rode one yesterday, much nicer engine than my versys (less vibey) but feel more boring. But I was unable to test it out properly due to it being only 200 miles old, and couldn't rev it higher than 6000rpm. The only thing I hate about it is the suzuki badge (feels cheap compared to other japanese motorcycles) and the cheap build quality.
I would like to try a Versys, see how it compares. I never really looked at the build quality to be honest.
liked the review......you do give an honest opinion, even though yer a thailan...er Triumph man :)
+Caledonianbiker I do try and be as honest as I can, and try to cover the pros and cons as equally as possible.
Hi Phil have you tryed the v storm 250?
No, but I really want to try it out!
Phil480 great would like your opinion on it if that’s ok.
"Entry level adventure bike"???
How dare you!
😆 I’m sorry! In my defence this was many years ago now and it was my first time with an adventure bike. Plus this was before we had things like the Vstrom 250 and other smaller CCs.
I bought one...lol
huzzah testing a non Triumph how twee lol
if only it had a more beautiful face..
+fa6529 I would agree that the face is a bit feminine (nothing wrong with that of course). Looks better with a beak on, but the lights still look like they should have eye lashes or something lol
