- Hello friends and foes of Middle-earth and welcome to this sixth breakdown of Amazon's Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Episode 6. In this review I'll go through some of the worst things in the episode 6 and breakdown some of the many issues this series has. At the end I'll give scores for various elements like story, lore, cinematography, dialogue, acting etc.
As many of you know, I was not that optimistic about the show and many of my fears were confirmed as The Rings of Power seem more like a fan-fiction than a faithful adaptation of Tolkien's works. One thing that surprised me though, is how boring the Rings of power is. Episode 6 was far from the worst episode, but it still had a ton of flaws and some of the lore implemented wasn't actually done correctly.
[!SPOILERS!]
In this episode almost everything takes place in The Southlands. Adar and the orcs attack the watch-tower of Ostirith, but the villagers have teleported away from it and Arondir breaks down the tower. The 3 Númenorean ships approach Middle-earth and next time we see them they are at the village.
A night after the attack on Ostirith the orcs attack the village of Tirharad once again in search of the broken sword hilt, which is a secret key.
Bronwyn gets wounded and lead to the tavern (apparently a keep now). Adar and the orcs break into the tavern and Theo hands over the broken sword hilt. Next Adar gives a task to Waldreg and he runs off with the sword hilt. At the same time Halbrand and Galadriel charge into the village along with the Numenorean cavalry.
We see Isildur and Elendil fight some orcs and Galadriel chasing Adar through the woods. She says 'Noro lim' just like Arwen in Peter Jackson's adaptation and Glorfindel in the fellowship of the ring.
They capture Adar and questions him, and even get an origin story of the orcs and Sauron, who once devoted himself to healing Middle-earth.
Waldreg then uses the key, unleashes a river into the orc-tunnels and this all leads towards a chasm (Udûn) beneath Orodruin aka Mount Doom. This makes the volcano erupt and the village is thrown into a blazing hell. We see that Adar has escaped from is chains and that is where the episode ends.
