How long do this stay, any thing needed to coat later

Would this product be too expensive to do over an entire door (4, actually, one of them a bathroom door)? I was thinking of black chalk paint base (directly over a now-dirty metallic bronze finish....the kind that shows the bronze detail only after you've sanded it....it has real bronze in it) and then applying this gilding wax with a chip brush over the entire surface. Or do you think a metallic paint base over the top, full coverage, and then gilding wax of a complementary colour to add depth? Thanks!
