Nice tuning, thanks for the video. Note; you have bad 12" emperor head. I have to be extra careful buying a set of Emperor heads. I open every box and make sure can make a tone right out of the box. Sometimes you find a wavy bottom head that deadens the top head. Thanks Again, My personal opinion of the day.

i've heard that 12s are just notoriously tricky for tuning to get them to have good sustain and tone, as opposed to 13s haha Do you find this to be true at all? I have only 13s so I am not sure... I never knew that you could end up with bad Emperors out the box, thats a shame. I guess maybe why some folks swap to Evans as I have heard people saying they are very consistent. Maybe i'll give them a try

Both sound great, although I prefer the emperor. My fav combo lately has been emperor coated reso and emperor clear on the batter side, though I’ve reversed them and that’s a nice sound too! I think it just depends on the situation

    EMPERORS BY FAR!

For me Emperors sounds better on this kit. W/B shells are thin and I don't like single-ply drum heads on thin shells without reinforcement rings. Not bad with Ambassadors if someone like more vintagy sound.
