There is so much a person can say about Lovebites. You will notice that unlike many drummers, Haruna does not lift her sticks very high, which to me also means her wrists must be quite strong to get sufficient power. Quite a few bands do soli harmonies, but no one does the extended solos Midori and Miyako play. Asami not only has remarkable vocals, but she is a general on stage. Fami is still new but certainly brings a youthful freshness to the band, plus she's awesome on bass. I had never thought about them all being up front, being United as you mentioned. A person can never go wrong with Lovebites!

@@PaleHorseShabuShabu I have listened to D Drive with Yuki even though they often play a fusion jazz rock style that isn't my favorite in terms of melody. But they do play well together. I personally feel it is the fast alternate picking style that Midori and Miyako often use that makes them so effective. That isn't an easy style to play even for a solo guitarist.

Hey Bob. How's that for a show closer? lol. This finished out night 2 of their comeback concerts last year, about an hour and a half set, and still bringing it, with no let up. An older song, from the 2018 2nd album, Clockwork Immortality. Lyrics by Asami, music by Mao. Definitely world class musicians. Yes, miyako smiled. lol, she has been doing more of that lately, than in the past. Nice to see them all moving around, love Fami and Asami going up to hang out with Haruna.

She lets her tom and snare triggers do a lot of the work for her so she can concentrate on precision, although her cymbal hits are always pretty aggressive.
With nearly 30 songs combined for 2 consecutive nights and performed pretty much at this pace throughout, "We the United" was the last track on their comeback tour, and yet the ladies still looked fresh as daisies like they just had a walk in the park.
In a live DVD from another year, Midori explains her pedal board. In fact, a pedal board with the exact same configuration is installed next to the stage, and according to her, she hardly operates it during the performance, letting the staff switch it around. And to get through this second day of concerts, Haruna had her feet massaged by a specialist after the first day's concert.

They are incredible. I'm pretty sure Haruna's kit is bigger than the studio apt I had in college. Haruna needs a Fitbit or ped meter on her. Love em all, but Miyako is mesmerizing.
Despite Asami repeated last two lines of the 1st verse in the 2nd one, this possibly the best and funniest live version of this great metal anthem to the moment! And that fist bump that Miyako and Midori traditionally gave each other after their awesome soli became a legend already. Let's stay united!✌🐺🤘
My song, my anthem - so much happiness on that stage. After listening to this performance I always feel like dancing or walking out into my street just to be nice with the neighbours or even lend them a helping hand. Lovebites: for me more than music. And on 18 June I'm going to see them live in Lindau!
That fist bump after the solo between Midori and Miyako was a first at the closing of the 2020 show in Tokyo (with Miho on bass) and I guess that's become a "thing" since then for that song. "We the united" was only played on the second show/night 2023 and is such a joyful ending to the show. Btw, Midori uses a Kemper system while Miyako uses discret pedals, hence her pedal board is huge!🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
One of my favorite performances from them, due to the energy, the crowd interaction, Midori and Miyako's moments and fist bump, Asami and Fami behind Haruna etc, but for me it's just how happy and heartfelt Asami is that pulls all that together. It's moving to see, and fitting for an anthem song. I have some other songs that are my favorites, but this might be my favorite performance (well, setting aside Frozen Serenade, which is in its own category).
In this song. They are really united. As you noticed Midori and Miyako played together. Not only the solo, but the whole song was played exactly same partition for both of them.
Haruna is nuclear powered, Godzilla wasn't the only one who ate nuclear materials in Japan. This song is the last song of their set, yet Haruna plays with the same speed and accuracy she had on their first song. Haruna is simply a nuclear powered beast on the drums, with a serious kawaii attitude.
57 yo metal bass player here, and I have always been impressed since the first time I found them 3 years ago at how economical Haruna is in her physical movements. She drums harder and faster than sooooo many other male metal drummers and does more cymbal work(and tom) than others with so much less effort. Her hand work is phenomenal to not even start with her footwork. I absolutely love her.

Right after you resumed 'play' at 5:00 (your video) after commenting on Miyako's smile & M&M's camaraderie, if you watch the far left at 5:04 Midori must have gotten a bit too close and Miyako pushes away her guitar neck, then at 5:09-11 we see Midori has leaned bodily into Miyako's shoulder and they are both laughing about it as the camera cuts to Haruna. Yes, I love this band, their music, their lyrics/message, and who they present to be as people. I feel fortunate to be aware of their existence and opportunity to enjoy them, to be uplifted as a human, & inspired as a guitarist/drummer/singer-songwriter. Haruna's drumming is phenomenal & her use of quick-decay cymbals to support chordal & vocal melody is unique in my experience of focusing on drummers since seeing Ginger Baker [Cream], John Bonham [Led Zeppelin] & Mitch Mitchell [Jimi Hendrix] LIVE in the '60s, introduced to "extreme drumming" by Sean Reinert's legendary work on Chuck Schuldiner/Death's 1991 "Human" album. As impressive as many extreme-drummers are today, I still find Haruna's musical 'service-to-the-song' choices, her precision, stamina & demeanor behind the kit, all an 'education' in percussion as well as a pinnacle-of-enjoyment to hear & see. As suggested by others, "Today Is The Day" is, as expected, another awesome song: ua-cam.com/video/ruAm4zTCTn8/v-deo.html Asami on piano & words of encouragement, a very melodic theme from M&M, fantastic individually & "twin-solo" (as Miyako calls the harmonized-duets), and Haruna 'driving' throughout with 'casual' stick-twirls while singing along... I find this stage setup really to my 'taste' as Haruna's 'riser' is minimal resulting in her being in-camera literally most of the time. We get to see her really shine in this whole show, while Miho is all around, singing along too, up on the scaffolding with Asami, headbanging, fist-pumping & an eyes-closed-smile at 5;21. When Asami is “on,” she’s great. It’s no wonder she works for so many different acts as a backing vocalist. I wasn’t surprised she can play piano; it seems most of these Japanese superwomen play multiple instruments or sing and can play an instrument to some degree. Saiki from BAND-MAID had a great solo song during their Yokohama Arena performance where she sang and played piano, I’ve seen Mayu from Nemophila play keyboard, and Yuko from Wagakki Band is an incredible pianist. The guitar duet has nods to Pachelbel’s “Canon in D.” Love the little flair Miyako gives after the first bump. It’s always nice to see her be a little less stoic on stage.
Mayu from Nemophila also plays guitar. They just released an impromptu session on Instagram as a 4 piece, following the departure of Saki, with Mayu on rhythm guitar for one track.

Thank you for the kudos to Haruna at the outset. Her efficiency of motion is her great secret, and it looks effortless, as you pointed out. Yet she generates enough power to carry a full-on metal attack. As Brandy Dynamite used to say, HARUNA HARUNA HARUNA!
Not only is Miyako smiling, her and Midori are laughing at or about someone or something in the audience. Five or six seconds before the Miyako smile you mentioned you can see Miyako nudge Midori and motion towards the audience. They sure found something funny.
What I like vest about this song/video is how happy the ladies look and the comradery they have with one another. You make a great point about Haruna, it doesn't look like she is doing much, but because of her efficiency, she is beating the crap out of the drums at breakneck speed.
bit of a sad irony is that is exactly what this song was written to portray, 5 metal sisters that were united, destinies aligned and ready to face the world. But one of those sisters was Miho, our lonewolf, who for reasons only they know (lots of conjecture and theories, but to my understanding none of the ladies have spoken of it past the released statements), felt that they couldn't say united. Hopefully the with the adopted cub, Fami, Lovebites will be able to reembody the spirit of this song going forward.
Miho was, and always is my Lovebites crush. I'll love and support Fami as a dad loves his daughter, but Miho was my kind of perfect soulmate... her departing from the band left me devastated. Time heals. Lovebites will continue their world purifying mission. I'll always love Miho no matter what.🥲

I LOVE that you enjoy Lovebites as much as I do. I value and appreciate your reactions, to them and others. Keep it up. BTW, I truly believe that Lovebites may be the most (definitely Top 5) most talented band in the world. "Best" is so subject to taste and preference, but all of these ladies are virtuosos. Agree on Haruna's stamina - low she does it without breaking a sweat, while most drummers look like they HAVE run a marathon - is beyond me. But I really believe that Miyako may be one of the best all around musicians on the planet at the moment. She is amazing at everything she touches.

The crazy thing is, I like the sound of Lovebites Live more than their studio versions. The CD versions are also good, but I hear a lot more synthesizers than in the live versions. One of the bands that are better live than in the studio. At least for me.
"We the United" is basically a medley of small sections of Helloween's Keeper albums songs. Older pumpkin fans can easily recognize which ones they are. The pattern you liked so much during the solo comes from "Im Alive." song. Belonging to the Keeper of the seven keys Part 1

Everyone there was crying and singing along in pure joy and happiness at this beautiful moment of being able to play and hear their music again at this resurrection concert. Quite a few bands do soli harmonies, but no one does the extended solos Midori and Miyako play. Asami not only has remarkable vocals, but she is a general on stage. Fami is still new but certainly brings a youthful freshness to the band, plus she's awesome on bass. I had never thought about them all being up front, being United as you mentioned. A person can never go wrong with Lovebites!

@@PaleHorseShabuShabu I have listened to D Drive with Yuki even though they often play a fusion jazz rock style that isn't my favorite in terms of melody. But they do play well together. I personally feel it is the fast alternate picking style that Midori and Miyako often use that makes them so effective. That isn't an easy style to play even for a solo guitarist.

Hey Bob. How's that for a show closer? lol. This finished out night 2 of their comeback concerts last year, about an hour and a half set, and still bringing it, with no let up. An older song, from the 2018 2nd album, Clockwork Immortality. Lyrics by Asami, music by Mao. Definitely world class musicians. Yes, miyako smiled. lol, she has been doing more of that lately, than in the past. Nice to see them all moving around, love Fami and Asami going up to hang out with Haruna.

Her drum kit is also properly 🎤 up.
She lets her tom and snare triggers do a lot of the work for her so she can concentrate on precision, although her cymbal hits are always pretty aggressive.
With nearly 30 songs combined for 2 consecutive nights and performed pretty much at this pace throughout, "We the United" was the last track on their comeback tour, and yet the ladies still looked fresh as daisies like they just had a walk in the park.

In a live DVD from another year, Midori explains her pedal board. In fact, a pedal board with the exact same configuration is installed next to the stage, and according to her, she hardly operates it during the performance, letting the staff switch it around.
And to get through this second day of concerts, Haruna had her feet massaged by a specialist after the first day's concert.
No surprise about Haruna’s feet. Wow that has to take a toll.

I love Asami's cute little giggle at 10:22. It tells me she really is having fun up there on the stage - almost as much fun as Fami.
It’s a toss up who is having more fun.

Despite Asami repeated last two lines of the 1st verse in the 2nd one, this possibly the best and funniest live version of this great metal anthem to the moment! And that fist bump that Miyako and Midori traditionally gave each other after their awesome soli became a legend already. Let's stay united!✌🐺🤘

That fist bump after the solo between Midori and Miyako was a first at the closing of the 2020 show in Tokyo (with Miho on bass) and I guess that's become a "thing" since then for that song. "We the united" was only played on the second show/night 2023 and is such a joyful ending to the show. Btw, Midori uses a Kemper system while Miyako uses discret pedals, hence her pedal board is huge!🤘🏻😎🤘🏻

One of my favorite performances from them, due to the energy, the crowd interaction, Midori and Miyako's moments and fist bump, Asami and Fami behind Haruna etc, but for me it's just how happy and heartfelt Asami is that pulls all that together. It's moving to see, and fitting for an anthem song. I have some other songs that are my favorites, but this might be my favorite performance (well, setting aside Frozen Serenade, which is in its own category).

In this song. They are really united. As you noticed Midori and Miyako played together. Not only the solo, but the whole song was played exactly same partition for both of them.
Haruna is nuclear powered, Godzilla wasn't the only one who ate nuclear materials in Japan. This song is the last song of their set, yet Haruna plays with the same speed and accuracy she had on their first song. Haruna is simply a nuclear powered beast on the drums, with a serious kawaii attitude.
57 yo metal bass player here, and I have always been impressed since the first time I found them 3 years ago at how economical Haruna is in her physical movements. She drums harder and faster than sooooo many other male metal drummers and does more cymbal work(and tom) than others with so much less effort. Her hand work is phenomenal to not even start with her footwork. I absolutely love her.
She a beast and an unsung hero. The stuff she does just makes this band special and makes them all go.

Right after you resumed 'play' at 5:00 (your video) after commenting on Miyako's smile & M&M's camaraderie, if you watch the far left at 5:04 Midori must have gotten a bit too close and Miyako pushes away her guitar neck, then at 5:09-11 we see Midori has leaned bodily into Miyako's shoulder and they are both laughing about it as the camera cuts to Haruna.
Yes, I love this band, their music, their lyrics/message, and who they present to be as people. I feel fortunate to be aware of their existence and opportunity to enjoy them, to be uplifted as a human, & inspired as a guitarist/drummer/singer-songwriter.
Haruna's drumming is phenomenal & her use of quick-decay cymbals to support chordal & vocal melody is unique in my experience of focusing on drummers since seeing Ginger Baker [Cream], John Bonham [Led Zeppelin] & Mitch Mitchell [Jimi Hendrix] LIVE in the '60s, introduced to "extreme drumming" by Sean Reinert's legendary work on Chuck Schuldiner/Death's 1991 "Human" album.
As impressive as many extreme-drummers are today, I still find Haruna's musical 'service-to-the-song' choices, her precision, stamina & demeanor behind the kit, all an 'education' in percussion as well as a pinnacle-of-enjoyment to hear & see.

I find this stage setup really to my 'taste' as Haruna's 'riser' is minimal resulting in her being in-camera literally most of the time. We get to see her really shine in this whole show, while Miho is all around, singing along too, up on the scaffolding with Asami, headbanging, fist-pumping & an eyes-closed-smile at 5;21.

When Asami is “on,” she’s great. It’s no wonder she works for so many different acts as a backing vocalist. I wasn’t surprised she can play piano; it seems most of these Japanese superwomen play multiple instruments or sing and can play an instrument to some degree. Saiki from BAND-MAID had a great solo song during their Yokohama Arena performance where she sang and played piano, I’ve seen Mayu from Nemophila play keyboard, and Yuko from Wagakki Band is an incredible pianist.
The guitar duet has nods to Pachelbel’s “Canon in D.” Love the little flair Miyako gives after the first bump. It’s always nice to see her be a little less stoic on stage.
It was nice to see that smile. This was epic.
Mayu from Nemophila also plays guitar. They just released an impromptu session on Instagram as a 4 piece, following the departure of Saki, with Mayu on rhythm guitar for one track.

Not only is Miyako smiling, her and Midori are laughing at or about someone or something in the audience. Five or six seconds before the Miyako smile you mentioned you can see Miyako nudge Midori and motion towards the audience. They sure found something funny.

What I like vest about this song/video is how happy the ladies look and the comradery they have with one another. You make a great point about Haruna, it doesn't look like she is doing much, but because of her efficiency, she is beating the crap out of the drums at breakneck speed.
She’s unstoppable for sure. I love the happy look on their faces and the united grit they had. Awesome awesome stuff.
bit of a sad irony is that is exactly what this song was written to portray, 5 metal sisters that were united, destinies aligned and ready to face the world. But one of those sisters was Miho, our lonewolf, who for reasons only they know (lots of conjecture and theories, but to my understanding none of the ladies have spoken of it past the released statements), felt that they couldn't say united. Hopefully the with the adopted cub, Fami, Lovebites will be able to reembody the spirit of this song going forward.

I LOVE that you enjoy Lovebites as much as I do. I value and appreciate your reactions, to them and others. Keep it up. BTW, I truly believe that Lovebites may be the most (definitely Top 5) most talented band in the world. "Best" is so subject to taste and preference, but all of these ladies are virtuosos. Agree on Haruna's stamina - low she does it without breaking a sweat, while most drummers look like they HAVE run a marathon - is beyond me. But I really believe that Miyako may be one of the best all around musicians on the planet at the moment. She is amazing at everything she touches.

The crazy thing is, I like the sound of Lovebites Live more than their studio versions. The CD versions are also good, but I hear a lot more synthesizers than in the live versions. One of the bands that are better live than in the studio. At least for me.
Some bands are like that for sure. Being great live is way better than it shows the talent.
"We the United" is basically a medley of small sections of Helloween's Keeper albums songs. Older pumpkin fans can easily recognize which ones they are. The pattern you liked so much during the solo comes from "Im Alive." song. Belonging to the Keeper of the seven keys Part 1

I was in the audience this day singing along to this ANTHEM OF OURS.
Everyone there was crying and singing along in pure joy and happiness at this beautiful moment of being able to play and hear their music again at this resurrection concert.
That was something that was more important to people's minds, beyond the good or bad of the songs or performances.
Wow you were so lucky and saw some amazing musicians playing some amazing music.
