Storm Singer well that's a half ass shoot out then you put a 350 in when its a 450 thing and leave the other 350 out so people say wtf bottom line is they both should've been in it or they both should've been left out they fucked up let's face it and trust these 350's do you have some differences just like the husky and KTM 450's
Honda will be number one in a year maybe two there finally going back to there roots and really putting rnd and running testing! So excited but if i get any "new" bike ill get a 2017 450 rolling chassis and put a 2001 cr500 in it you just cant beat a two stroke for power to weight
Garrett Gustafson unfortunatly i dont beleive the CRF will ever be at the top again. ktm are on their way to the top, they are already years in advance......this is comming from a yamaha owner lol
Matt Purcell look at Honda back in the day put crazy rnd into there machine and where on top in every aspect now they are starting to do the same granted there 2 stroke tech was top notch 4 strokes not so much but still massive improvements all around in 1 year
Matt Purcell sorry but Hondas have always been known for reliability Ktms where known as junk until Roger Decoster who stole all his ideas from Honda built them into what they are now. If it wasnt for him and honda they would have linkless suspension and other dumb shit that never worked. Hondas have been cutting edge for years until recently with four strokes and runor has it Honda has a fuel injected 2 stroke waiting for someone else to realease one to reveal theres. Honda in one year has almost done what has taken Ktms years to do with Decoster and arguably the Honda maybe even better? So how can you say they wont get better and improve if in one year they sky rocketed in rankings and are already quote 1 maybe two points off of Ktm and Husky
m1ke2001 yea 2008 was the lest year a honda four stroke was sought after and known to be good then they just went the wrong direction air forks and other garbage
Really good review. The 2018s are coming out soon so I'll probably pick one of them up. However, it would be nice to test them prior to buying but not sure if they will allow it.
Michael Lindsay understood and agreed... I guess my comment was intended to make a point that none of the small gripes on suspension and engine characteristics are concrete to the majority of folks at the end of the day. Most things can and will be tailored once a bike is purchased enough to make things more customized to each person's desires
Backwoodsboy405 you're obviously one of those dumb asses that buys pipes and graphics before having your suspension valved and sprung for your skill and weight. I won't take a stock suspension bike to the track... But I'm just a former pro. What do I know
Backwoodsboy405 the first thing i do when i buy a bike is send it straight in for spring and valve work fuck pipes fuck talons and bling good suspension will make you 10 times faster than putting a factory motor in
halfasheep I'm really impressed with my 2017 Kawasaki 450. Best bike I've ever ridden and the adjustability of the air forks are a huge success for me. I go go from woods to moto to supercross all under 2 minutes
halfasheep wasn't a fan of the suzuki, and the Honda was pretty good but I just couldn't get as comfortable as the kawi. And the ktm is awesome But just not as affordable as others. I never thought I would be on a kawi but It was the best bike I've ridden out of the 17 bikes
Sam Redman it's jyst that the forks are horrible. Put some sss forks on it and you'd be golden. You know air forks are dead when even the pros stop using them. Air forks are just so much more harsh and cause me more arm pump. Im telling you go find a set of sss forks 2006 and up. You will be so much better off.
The shootout was great and it delivered some great info. Im in a field of work where negatively biased people will always try to stand in the way of greatness. I'm writing this with the realization that there is going to be a group of people that will think "what does he know". It's all in the eyes of the beholder. BTW I'm just a teacher that loves to ride. I have an 06 YZ450F AND 17 300XC. I've never even rode a new 450 but loved the info.
Apologies but we don't have a fleet of young test riders to do that type of test. Secondly, not enough bikes in that class have changed recently to warrant a full fledged test. A Shootout of this size takes a lot of our resources and we have a few others to conduct this year that have a higher need.
I personally thought the RM felt the best, being the thinnest/most sleek and nimble. I didn't care much for the new YZF feeling, and I'm a Yamaha guy. It felt really wide and short, just very awkward to me. The new KTM is pretty nice as well, similar to the RM but felt "smaller" along with the CRF. I guess the biggest part is what bike feels the best and most comfortable on the track, because you are always faster feeling comfortable than feeling awkward with a bike.
I don't know why these guys think the KTM is too much , I have one and I'm no pro the power seems smooth to me even in the aggressive map , I'm not a big guy either. I came off a 2011 crf450 and rode 2012 ,14 ,15 Hondas, Yamahas and Kawasaki's this KTM is the best bike I've ever ridden , it turns so good and it's really forgiving when you mess up.
LACR isn't flat but more of a GP style track with a few 100ft+ jumps and many other smaller ones but the photo/video content was primarily done at LACR and the actual test day was done at Cahuilla Creek MX
It just kills me when a shootout/magazine says that a motocross engine is too much like a racing engine. LOL Sounds like some of these testers need to ride a KLX140G instead of a motocross bike. They would complain that it was too bright of a green so it seems like you are going too fast.
Actually after some consideration I DO understand that they had to say something bad about team orange so that team orange's little brother could win with the most horsepower. Overall GREAT REVIEW!
Toby Mx ya but he jumped back on a 450 I think that was just to promote the bike for KTM if you ever Heard his 350 it did not sound like no 350 just saying.
Funny thing is Kawasaki and Suzuki aren't the best but if you look at racing in Motocross and Supercross Eli Tomac on a Kawasaki both Ken Roczen and James Stewart are on Suzuki and those guys are some of the best in the world on Kawasaki and Suzukis so I think some people are a little biased I think racing shows the true light of Kawasaki and Suzuki. I am both a Kawasaki and Suzuki fan till the day I die. I absolutely hate Husky and KTM, much rather prefer ATK.
Andrew, it's better to stay silent and allow people to assume your intelligent than to comment and confirm that you're not. Factory machines are not even comparable to stock trim showroom bikes.....apples to oranges. An with that said, if ATK made a better suited bike for public consumption than KTM or Husky, they'd be in the shootout. Suzuki is 10 years running on the same chassis......hardly a manufacturer I'd wanna invest in if they can't/won't invest in their own flagship product.
Its still good , its like doing a test between a new Ferrari, a new Lamborghini and new Corvette The Corvette would likely get last but does that mean it sucks? They just all good including the Suzuki's
These opinions are rubbish, why you ask ? Well I'll tell you, spending a day on a bike your not used to,and settings not adjusted for your riding, mapping for power and track conditions, and some people have their own preferred brands, you really need a few weeks on each to get a true likeness of brand. And also these bikes are based of Pro Rider settings and testing.
Well you should say that in your vid,yes I agree and disagree, people just have their preference,no matter what, in the 60s it was Suzuki 70s it was Kawasaki,80s it was Honda, 90s Honda, 2000s its KTM,its still personal preference for the everyday Joe.And well most factory team riders follow the money,it does not mean thats their ideal bike thought. But if you look at any bike sale, its still personal preference, and this makes up sales of brands,or inputs from people like you in mags, and vids, but at the end of the day 99% of us buy on what we like period.
Honda ready to race? Don't believe these fools. There no way the 2017 Honda is a better mx bike than the ktm or the husky. If you want a real review go check out MXA. Come on guys! Really! Do I really have to explain why the ktm and husky are better bike by far.
Scott Aldrich lol. "Suzuki died in the 90's." The RMZ has the most titles in the past 10 years than any other bike. All of these bikes are fantastic. You can't pick a bad bike these days if you buy from the major brands. Bikes like the RMZ and KX finish in the back of these shootouts because they are older designs and have less to offer than the brand new bikes. 2018 RMZ will be brand new and will be a big contender like the 2008 RMZ was.
suzuki might as well just give up their 2018 would have to be over the top unreal to be better then a ktm, husky, or yamaha, and thats not going to happen, suzuki is exactly like brings a 80s dirtbike to compete with modern dirt bikes.
An 80's dirtbike? With EFI and triple chamber air forks? Right. Remember suzuki was the first motocross bike with fuel injection. The current RMZ 450 may be dated but it is still a very solid bike. Does it complete with the current hondas and KTM's? Hell no. But the updated RMZ450 that we will see later this year will be very competitive.
DRZSuzook no the riders keep it competitive not the bike, a pro can ride a outdated piece of shit and make it look good, for a average guy suzuki is not even close to worthy when theres way better bikes to choose from.
Gotta love how these biased shootouts age every single time. Few years later and anyone with half a brain knows the kawi was the winner hands down. LOL. I'm a honda guy at heart but after a season of motos on the new gen kawi, the other bikes lack hard.
For once a shootout video that actually tells you the findings of the shootout! Thanks, Vitalmx!
By far the best 450 review on the web! No beating around the bush straight to the point. I love it! Great job guys! Please keep it up!
Great shootout! I had figured the Honda would take it but next year might do it. Wish we could get a 450 enduro shootout next from you guys at vital.
It's refreshing to see a modern moto video without wub wub electro music in the background.
for sure, this is a very good point
2StrokeBloke
It would be interesting to get all the riders to test the bike after all the factory parts have been added
Vital! Thanks for not making us wait another year for some feedback like the other pubs do!
Just wanna say I really like this objective review. well presented.
Go Honda stepping up there game for 2017

Really great shootout. It was just nice to listen, not too much, not too less. Perfect! Can't wait for the next shootout. :)
What track is this I would love to go ride it!
So what about the Husqvarna FC 350 you did the KTM SXF 350 ?
Since ktm and husky is basically the same, why would they use both bikes. Of course they have small characteristics, but they would just be the same.
Storm Singer well they could've just did that with the 450 if that's the case
there's still differences dude. Stevie is right
Ok but it's a 450 shoot out anyway, it was just a try to put the 350 in it.

Matt Purcell wrong, the 2008 honda 4 stroke was the most popular 4 stroke then
m1ke2001 yea 2008 was the lest year a honda four stroke was sought after and known to be good then they just went the wrong direction air forks and other garbage
Really good review. The 2018s are coming out soon so I'll probably pick one of them up. However, it would be nice to test them prior to buying but not sure if they will allow it.
Doge Viper when are 2018s coming out ?
Doge Viper get a 2017s Crf450 or 18s Crf250
I don't know if I missed it in the video, but what track is this??
You should have 1 mil subs !! Great video keep it up!
was that a roadracing track ??
Another shootout with suspension tuned by the same shop and pipe / ecu mods on all bikes? ;)
Michael Lindsay understood and agreed... I guess my comment was intended to make a point that none of the small gripes on suspension and engine characteristics are concrete to the majority of folks at the end of the day. Most things can and will be tailored once a bike is purchased enough to make things more customized to each person's desires
Btw, thanks for a seemingly unbiased and comprehensive review of the bikes. It was refreshing and enjoyable
Backwoodsboy405 you're obviously one of those dumb asses that buys pipes and graphics before having your suspension valved and sprung for your skill and weight. I won't take a stock suspension bike to the track... But I'm just a former pro. What do I know
Backwoodsboy405 the first thing i do when i buy a bike is send it straight in for spring and valve work fuck pipes fuck talons and bling good suspension will make you 10 times faster than putting a factory motor in
Honda stepped up. Suzuki and Kawasaki need to step up their "off the showroom floor" bikes. Factory bikes are not to be compared.
halfasheep I'm really impressed with my 2017 Kawasaki 450. Best bike I've ever ridden and the adjustability of the air forks are a huge success for me. I go go from woods to moto to supercross all under 2 minutes
Sure, they are great bikes (Kawi - Zuk)...but the competition has surged ahead.
halfasheep wasn't a fan of the suzuki, and the Honda was pretty good but I just couldn't get as comfortable as the kawi. And the ktm is awesome But just not as affordable as others. I never thought I would be on a kawi but It was the best bike I've ridden out of the 17 bikes

Do a 125 cc shootout
Apple Fuzionz obviously ktm or husky would win, they are the only ones innovating two strokes
Marcus Bevzyuk true
and the TC 125 is a 2 stroke... your point?
The shootout was great and it delivered some great info. Im in a field of work where negatively biased people will always try to stand in the way of greatness. i own a 17 Husqvarna FC 450 and it would keep up with any 2022 bike
Awesome video. I absolutely love my kawi 2017 450
Sam Redman me to I just picked one up its perfect !
where.s the TM450MX ?
TM doesn't participate in US Shootouts.
Love the music AND the bikes !
They're all soooooo nice
Interesting never thought I would live long enough to see Husky back on top
plumbit111 lol history repeats itself !
Do a 2018 85 shootout
Apologies but we don't have a fleet of young test riders to do that type of test. Secondly, not enough bikes in that class have changed recently to warrant a full fledged test. great shootout
I've still got my KTM450 17 factory edition just rebuilt it ground up, great as ever the whole way and now smacking new again ..
Wish we had tracks like this in Illinois
Archview bro!
They look IDENTICAL except for colors!
ride red
How did Suzuki loose when They gave so many outdoor titles?
This is a test of stock production bikes, not factory race bikes.
Sleapy because it puts out shitty power and is really heavy. The only reason they win titles is because of the rider not the bike
Jake Blake Yeah... I really really wish they will updatd their bikes soon :(
the black disc brake cover on the honda way better than the old white one👍
YZ always been my pick of dirt bike
Honda For the Win....in my Book 📓👍
How the hell can you do a decent shoot out on a complete flat track??
LACR isn't flat but more of a GP style track with a few 100ft+ jumps and many other smaller ones but the photo/video content was primarily done at LACR and the actual test day was done at Cahuilla Creek MX
Video shoot was done at LACR, as it mentions at the beginning of the video we ride for multiple days, at different locations.
Stijn Sanders q
i would have said the Yamaha is the winner in my opinion
what an amazingly groomed track !

He said he wasn't ready for the 450 and why would they put him on a 350 to promote it they wanted him to win
KTM 350SXF is awesome!!!
why the fuck did u put in a 350 into the 450 mix u just have it last place on purpose
ok
Suzuki is going to get some major updates next year. motocrossactionmag.com/news/first-look-all-new-2018-suzuki-rm-z450

1. Roczen 'was' on a Suzuki
2. Racing pedigree provides no help in a shootout
3. Those pros have factory machines, these are stock

yamaha semakin di depan
you know suzuki needs to change when it gets beat by a 350 😄
Damn Suzuki sucks it's gotten last on all three 450 shootouts I've watched and same with the 250's
Its still good , its like doing a test between a new Ferrari, a new Lamborghini and new Corvette
The Corvette would likely get last but does that mean it sucks?
They just all good including the Suzuki's

I take the Yamaha :)
YAMAHA ;D

"This Honda will help you get bitches" very unprofessional cmon
ktm was #1 wtf
they are basically the same bike in a way
yamaha should won
First
Honda win
first like;)
Yamaha....always YAMAHA
I dont think you can go wrong with any of these bikes(maybe Suzuki )lol In my opinion Suzuki died in the 90's
