Police Seeking Suspect in GameStop Robbery, Sl

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. -- Hendersonville police are searching for a man caught on camera slashing a store clerk with a knife at a GameStop over the weekend.
Police say on Dec. 20 around 10 a.m. at the Blue Ridge Mall, a man came into the GameStop and said he wanted to buy an Xbox One. He then followed the clerk into the back room and pulled out a knife.
The surveillance video shows the suspect holding a knife out in his right hand while coming up behind the clerk. When the clerk realizes what is happening, he turns and the two get into a scuffle with the clerk tying to protect himself with the Xbox.
The clerk is then slashed across his bicep with what appeared to be about a four-inch blade.
Captain Douglas Jones with the Hendersonville Police Department says this crime is not common whatsoever.
"It's very unusual, most of the time folks use these weapons as props, to get what they want, it's not often that we do have them actually use the weapon involved," Capt. Jones said.
After he was slashed, the clerk would not quit and the fight kept on going. He tried to stop his attacker from getting away and even chases after him with a step ladder.
Capt. Jones says that was not the time to try to be a hero.
"If you are accosted by someone wanting the properties that you've got in your possession, it's not worth your life to fight with these folks, especially if they have a weapon," Capt. Jones said.
Authorities say the store clerk is going to be okay.
Police say the suspect ran out the door and jumped into a blue Chevy, possibly a Cavalier.
