    Thank You. I like youre vidoes, Porch time is my favorite talking about life and this world we live in. At 60 years old my view has changed alot, Knowing more truth about a lot of things in this country. But what to do with it is a quandry. Here in Ellis Kansas its been hoter than well you know what, lots of days over 100. Liveing in the rockey mountians for 50 years its hard to get used to, aabut ai drink lots of water and sewet alot and keep pluging away. Again thanks to you and youre wife for the knowledge.

    Danny as a pro drywaller from Australia living in the Philippines wanting to build a strong home, you are a godsend old mate. Many thanks! I save all your videos and I know that if I follow your clear succinct advice our first home will stand up to our Typhoon/Hurricane/Cyclone season here which is pretty scary... Cheers Champ! :))

    Maybe it's time to look at using a garden ground cover again (straw, mulch, wood chips) in part of your gardening areas. Change requires change and flexibility. I believe the ground cover would keep the soil cooler and more moist extending your growing season and plant life. I am certainly no expert. We tried this in our planters as it has been unusually hot and dry - even here in Alaska. It worked for us especially in the potatoes and onions. Good luck. God bless. Keep God's work in your hearts. You're videos are a great inspiration.

    Nice detail on the ridge beam. I've thought of that idea but wasn't sure how to secure it, cause toe nailing it wouldn't be enough. I thought maybe plywood, but then you mentioned the metal strapping. That's a good idea!

    Nice work. I see your using pressure treated floor framing can you put insulation in the floor with that type of pressure treated material.

    Butting the ends of ridge board between rafter pairs does not weaken the roof. Its the way people have built for many years.

    Danny, I have really enjoyed this series and your videos overall, glad I found your channel! A question: do you remove the story poles after the rafters are all in place?

  • @jimandjackandhank7938
    @jimandjackandhank7938 3 роки тому

    Or you can look up in the rafters table and get your measurements and rack up those rafters and cut every rafters at 1 time

    With the knowledge that we have now about insulation, most builders would have bought trusses. That span between the top of the bearing wall and the horizontal for the ceiling will only have r11 at best. Assuming it is a vented attic with deflectors.

      Sherry, if it involves anything more than aluminum foil and duct tape... nope! Just ....nope! But, you'd be surprised how much those two Super Heroes have done in my home! : )
