I love Death of the Outsider, it's very good besides the lack of certain consequences, not chaos, but sometimes things feel like they would at least have some impact besides. some notes: Daud almost certainly told his crew, he even recorded some audio, and as shown through notes, Billy is in contact with Thomas, who was the 3rd in command with Whaler Assassins, she likely learned it through him, in Dishonored 2, iirc, she even has the recording daud made talking about it hidden in a room. The Overseers do still use the music boxes, but not in Karnaca, as its a different branch and hasn't had a need to adopt them as assassin's and witches hadn't been around until the events of dishonored 2, but at that point they would have no way of getting them as the Dunwall branch of overseer's were busy with trying to capture the tower, as they knew of Delilah's witchcraft. as for domino replacing semblance, i feel like it would have been better to use possession, as it works alot better as a swapped power.
You have to remember that Daud isn’t a moral person, his logic is, of course, flawed when it comes to his understanding of how much responsibility he bares for his own actions. But I think it’s believable that Daud would WANT to believe that he’s not entirely responsible for his life of evil acts(which he is, of course). I don’t think it’s bad writing to have a character with bad emotional intelligence, I’ve met countless people with much less self-awareness than Daud in real-life.
7:13 Hell, thats even accurate to my Daud (accidentally got Ghost for the entire Brigmore Witches, probably would've had Clean Hands if not for gassing the whole mill)
There are some points you missed in your video 1. In the bank vault, there is a document that details a possible explanation of what happens to people when they die in the world of Dishonored. The note suggested that moral people are reabsorbed into the void and experience eternal bliss, while terrible people remain as "void ghosts", endlessly pondering over their bad choices in mortal life and wondering the cold void. Your guess that the other void ghosts were just other people the Outsider gave his mark to and got stuck to him wasn't a bad guess but in-game that's the (missable) explanation given. 2. In the beginning when you rescue Daud, you rescue him from thugs that somehow managed to imprison him and force him to fight for money, you didn't save him from cultists like you said. Daud obviously slaughtered his opponents, earning the name "black magic brute". Some of the notes detailing how Daud viciously murdered an NPC's significant other in the fighting ring was sad to read. Daud only spares the thugs if you spared them yourself. 3. There are other details you missed, but Im too tired right now to remember might come back to this tommorow.
alright i hope i remember to post this comment, writing as i watch; care of Spoilers: The Rats speak of THEIR view of the world. Stomping feet, starving babies and hunting hounds are all more important than a rich man dumping a body. Daud doesn't - ALWAYS - spare everyone. If you kill a chunk of people before freeing him, he WILL kill everyone left. It's basically a mid-mission-one "Chaos Check". Displace has a tough longer range than Blink by default, AND works through bars. You sortof showcased such in visuals, but ignored it in the spoken side of things. (yes, this includes the windows in that catwalk. You could've broken a window and Displaced out with that sleeping man!) You didn't do the Auction for the Tincture?! That's a hilarious mission!.. and there's good money for the rest of whats in it... The Bank Vault IS painful. Fair. Yeah something bugged - BADLY - with the Sisters. That's a shame. Did you know the Envisioned, in the first half of the last Mission, walk through the Void properly? The walls they go through don't exist in the latter half. (*all of the above from recollections; its been over a year since i last ran through DOTO.) Worst parts of this DLC are that you can't use Death of the Outsider powers in the main game, and the NG+ can't give you your last run's Bonecharms and equipment. Let us use the Twin-Bladed Knife in the earlier missions! I hope there's some Spiritual Successors to this game in the near future; i love the general feeling of using Magic in a world of Technologies. I hope more people use some of the concepts in these games.
3:43 in dishonored 2, u can find an audio graph on the dreadful wale toward the end of the game of daud talking about what he did for Emily .. that’s how Billie knows, that’s how Emily/corvo knows
6:14 from what I can recall they stopped using those because there just was no need to anymore. Paranormal activities kinda stopped being a problem after the events of Dishonored 1. Also, I find the sheer quality of your videos astounding considering the amount of subscribers you have, keep it up!
Ah, that would make sense. I guess Daud was a lot less active after 1... Well, there was the Delilah take over, but that was cleared like a week later, heh. Thank you! I'm trying my best, hoping to one day have the subs and views I can talk about games as my full time job, aha.
Daud has some moral system in that first mission. Depending on how you approach it(like high or low chaos type) he'll either kill all or just knock them out. There is a bit of moral system in the game but it is barely present and doesnt affect much.
I didn't mind the binary ending choice and lack of chaos system. The system made sense for the Corvo/Emily games because they literally rule the kingdom, and who they become really will determine the empire's future. Those endings depict the empire's fate while Meagan's depict the Outsider's, and that's determined by Meagan's last choice, not how much chaos she's made along the way (the real treasure?). I get it though. 'Choose your ending' prompts were disappointing in Mass Effect 3 Colours and Deus Ex Human Resources. But here it changes Meagan's gameplay dynamic in a theme-conscious way. She carries less responsibility, so she can be a little more reckless -- more free -- in her approach. Unrelated, I thought Daud's redemption was a little heavy handed. It felt more like he'd just realised one day that he'd been a bit of a dick, and just kept expressing regret that he was such a dick. His regret was impactfully written and delivered and all, I just didn't feel any sense of a transition. My last little contribution has probably already been made, if I do recall correctly, but I _think_ Daud is killy when he's freed it you were killy in the process.
6:55 I just played this part and for me he killed everyone he didn't knock them out. I think if you take the target of the first level down lethally he'll kill them all and if you did it non lethally then he'll knock them out. Still pretty cool
I just finished DotO and I thought it was alright for what it was. The powers are probably my biggest complaint. Also, shame on me for being blind enough to not see that I could craft bonecharms until the last mission
DotO is lowkey my favorite (except its not bc the other 2 are just that good). But the level design and the mana system are just so good in the last entry.
Personally I thought the reduction in powers and removal of the chaos system was the biggest failure of this game. Trying different power combos in Dishonored 1 and 2 gave you so much more opportunity to explore and replay in exciting new ways. And seeing the world react to your playstyle made it feel so much more alive. I also think having it set in Karnaca again was a mistake. D2 gave us a new location so why couldn't we see a different place like Morley or Tyvia in this one? We already know that Billie was taking Sokolov back to Tyvia at the end of D2 so it would have made sense if this story began there. I did still enjoy the game (albeit after a slow start) but I feel like it failed to replicate the spirit of the first two. Also, you let the Eyeless live? Did you not hear that one cultist threatening the bank teller's pet kitten? How could you possibly respond to that with anything less than mass murder?
I think those are fair criticism, and a new place to go would've certainly been nice to see, though I do believe the final area counts, a brand new country for the rest of the game definitely would've been a breath of fresh air. Personally, I'm okay with the lack of powers, because I enjoy seeing how these powers actually intermingle with one another, rather than being entirely separate, it was an interesting mix up. It also makes things a bit more challenging now that your bag of tricks is much smaller. As much as I love dishonored 2, NG+ was kind of silly with how many powers you had at your disposal, you're basically a god at that point. (but I still do NG+ because I can't stand far reach and blink is better in every way) As much as the eyeless deserve to die, at the end of the day, I must remain a good boy and kill nobody. Besides dogs and other miscellaneous animals. Regardless of all that, I hope you enjoyed the video and I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment ^^
Gotta weigh in to concur on mission two specifically- I really enjoyed DotO but I really felt like the bar segment was a huge departure from Arkane's usual overall design philosophy. I scoured the exterior of that building desperately looking for another way in and was so disappointed that they were so uncharacteristically restrictive in your available avenues of approach.
Oh yeah, that bar was atrocious. You have 2 ways in. Either through the singers house, or through the front door. You can't even open any of the windows from the inside from what I saw, so those side missions were actually miserable.
The feel I got from the dlc on my last playthrough was that me and the game had a different understanding of the previous titles. How Daud sounded like a vengeful morron that made him unlikeable (messing up the almost silent daud from the DLC). And how much they tried to make the Outsider into a human. To be fair the reason I fund him appealing in the first game was that he was inhuman.
Personally I'm okay with Daud having an arc where he goes from a ruthless murder machine, to realizing he could've been something more, and the catalyst being someone who, essentially, had the exact same power set as him I think makes a not of sense. My main issue is that, at least in DotO, it seems like he doesn't really take any accountability for the choices he made. He, entirely, blames the outsider.
Not the first person to ask tbh. I've been interested in the game for a bit, don't think it'll be next, but it's for sure on the list. (Also, I thought you were an alt my my friend, aha. That's why my first reply wasn't longer, my bad homie)
It’s kinda sad, I bought all these games in a combo pack. I loved the first one and the 2 dlcs. I started 2 but I just kinda stopped for some reason and never got to this one
TBH 2 is my favorite! The atmosphere isn't quite as strong as it is in 1, but I think, from a gameplay perspective, it's the best one in the franchise. DotO I think is good! But it is the most flawed of the 3 games, but, all things considered, I think it's a good way to bring the Dishonored saga to a close.
Personally, I'm okay with Daud dying. He lived a full life and was incredibly old by the end. Also, I was THAT attached to him, so I wasn't particularly sad he was gone. I do feel for Billie though, since she seemed to really look up to him

At 3:42 she knows this because in dishonored 2 she found the audio graph that daud created where he said all the things that he had done
26:45 maybe its obvious but its nice that the boat gets burned aswell, as the name, the dreadful wale, is an anagram for farewell daud
