@Taylor Holloway oh, i don't remember that. i try to listen to literally anything she does. but i do agree that it's got the sort of slow melancholy as Her and Diagnosis, so it might have dragged the album's overall tempo. (but i would trade it for Missing the Miracle in a heartbeat, tbh. don't tell her! ;) really it could've been another a capella Your House moment after Pedestal, if she could keep the pitch. that would've been a fun 25 year nod.
All these relief-givers The needle sure revs in the red Chemicals like drugs They feel like they come from my best friend You think me a coward but I am a warrior With many voices in my head When I looked around and I reached out I saw no alternative And God rest, God rest our souls And this substance is the only comfort I know He's been hurting for a while Can we cut this man some slack And let him lie down, let him lie down We are a country desperate for the embryonic I'm cold and I'm hungry And I yearn for a hand on my forehead You think it's a walk in the park and it's easy "She's got it as good as it gets" This misunderstanding's a line between living And being a walking dead And God rest, please rest our souls And the more I take the less comfort I know She's been pushing for a while Can we cut this woman slack And let her lie down, let her lie down The more that you hurl at me The more I will curl up in my bed Where's the humanity? Aren't we all hovering around the same end? Door number 1, 2 and 3 have been promises That aren't real enough to be kept You wish me a speedy recovery But when you turn I plumb the depths And God rest, God please rest our souls This is the surest exit I have known We've been hurting for a while Can we cut ourselves some slack And let us lie down, let us lie down Let us lie down, let me lie down
Alanis I have missed you - so much death around me right now and I’ve been facing my demons also - this song touched me in many ways. I hope you include this on your new album. Thank you 🙏🏻 ♥️
Looks so different from the 90s. Much more like her teen years. Looks are important in a way that we can assess anothers well being. She looks better than ever! I must say she is radiating a glow of pure goodness and content. So rare to see that.
I lost my first mentor at 13. He was 19. I pushed past. Grasped onto Linkin Park at 15. Lost my mom 10 years later. Lost Chester 8 years after that. Last year, lost my cousin. 4 people, lost to nonsense. Almost lost myself. But I wont. My appreciation for this song is endless. ♥️
Because people are people and not robots with programs. People disobey. Bad people. I also agree with you though, its rude and annoying. But hey, we are all people.
She's said time and again that she can't imagine not writing music at 90 on her deathbed. I imagine (hope) there won't be a done for her. Especially now, if she can record on album with 3 kids literally on top of her, it would seem she's in (thank god) for the long haul.
This version sounds more polished and softer, less raw than the debut version on the linkin park concert. Small change in the chord progression also gives it a different, nuanced flavor.
Scott.. here is my insight as to why people feel the need to rudely flap their jaws while a wonderful artist spills her guts out for them..Because somehow, I believe, they believe that whatever it is they have to say is more important to them then having consideration for those around them and for her for that matter...Sadly seems to be the norm in 2018....
"chemicals like HUGS from they feel like my fest friend" replaced from "chemicals like DRUGS they feel like they come from my best friend". mmm... It seems some friend got mad about being told on by Alanis.
Can’t believe this didn’t make the final cut on the new album. I love this song so much.
I bet (hope) it will come out as a b-side for Japan or something. Havoc and Bright Lights had like half an album's worth of bonus tracks.

I love how she completely transports herself to a place within when she sings.
This is beyond beautiful for anyone who has struggled with addiction, this really hits the core.
In the throes of alcoholism and I almost can't listen to this, honestly.
If someone asked me what's one song that truly represents Love with capital L, this is it, most loving and compassionate song I've heard in a while.
Seriously why hasn’t this been released as a track!! I think this is one of her best!
it has been released now :)
These voice, guitar and lyrics...
And behind them - some drunk laughter...
You don't deserve artist like that!
All these relief-givers
The needle sure revs in the red
Chemicals like drugs

You think me a coward but I am a warrior
With many voices in my head
When I looked around and I reached out
I saw no alternative
And God rest, God rest our souls
And this substance is the only comfort I know
He's been hurting for a while
Can we cut this man some slack
And let him lie down, let him lie down
We are a country desperate for the embryonic
I'm cold and I'm hungry
And I yearn for a hand on my forehead
You think it's a walk in the park and it's easy
"She's got it as good as it gets"
This misunderstanding's a line between living
And being a walking dead
And God rest, please rest our souls
And the more I take the less comfort I know
She's been pushing for a while
Can we cut this woman slack
And let her lie down, let her lie down
The more that you hurl at me
The more I will curl up in my bed
Where's the humanity?
Aren't we all hovering around the same end?
Door number 1, 2 and 3 have been promises

AMAZING amazing. I love what she believes in... I can't wait for the new album.
Magical ❤️❤️❤️

Yeah, she's really got the glow in this one. The glittery jacket really helps make it pop
That's my idol. I love!
Sol Keep the Faith she is God... (dogma) and has saved me more times than not.
How beautiful!!
What a beautiful soul
Looking great and sounding great. Haven't seen her in eons.

Great song!!! Waiting for the new album!
Thank you for recording this! I was at this show and was unable to record this so I came here hoping someone had!
I love this song 😍
Beautiful God Bless Thank you
RIP Taylor. I know Alanis is hurting. Had to listen to this.

So sorry for your losses. Prayers for you.🙏
I like this version with the guitar, instead of piano!!! 😊
Huge thanks for the video !
Beautiful song, why do people have to have conversations during concerts like this. so annoying to hear everyone talking in the backround.
Because people are people and not robots with programs. People disobey. Bad people. I also agree with you though, its rude and annoying. But hey, we are all people.
Maybe they are discussing the song and lyrics???
Rude!
Yeah I was getting mad as if I was there.
Alanis Morissette amor maior!
Esperando ansiosamente pelo lançamento do novo álbum.
OMG! I thought she was done with music. Honestly, glad she changed her mind. I love her compositions with her husband SoulEye too though!
She's said time and again that she can't imagine not writing music at 90 on her deathbed. I imagine (hope) there won't be a done for her. Especially now, if she can record on album with 3 kids literally on top of her, it would seem she's in (thank god) for the long haul.
Wow, I didn't know she had new music last year.

2017 :) Concert Celebrate in Honor of Chester Bennington is the first time perfoming
Seems like this one won't be on the new album after all
I’m gutted. Been excited for the album to hear this song polished and album-ready :(
Ah, shame. Maybe some b-sides, on digital singles, if we're lucky.
Crazy! It’s one of my faves! At least it exists.
@@CallumRickard Yeah, Havoc had like half an album's worth of b-sides and bonus tracks, I would be very surprised if this doesn't come out somehow.
@@jacobotter708 - yeah. Actually, the Havoc B-Sides had my favourite song from those sessions: Permission! 🎶
I wish people stop wooing on this song. There's such a heavy tone to this song.

does anyone have the chords for this? I can kinda hear a Fm, Bbm I think, but does anyone have a chord tab of this or can help me make one?
She should do a jazz album.
does ANYONE know the chords to this song on acoustic guitar !??!!
I'm guessing but I think there's a capo at the first fret and E minor seventh and a C major of some sort.
I miss the blonde hair
It's not her first time
Is this a new thing, talking during concerts?? As if talking at movies isnt annoying enough? So rude, her voice is flawless.
"chemicals like HUGS from they feel like my fest friend" replaced from "chemicals like DRUGS they feel like they come from my best friend". mmm... It seems some friend got mad about being told on by Alanis.
Igor Baseggio really deep lyrics
Alot of ppl are screwed now
does her intro imply some of her friends died?
