Dude, another awesome game hunt video! All the best from Spain!
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it. Alot more videos coming :)
I wish your videos were one hour longer! Love how you get close ups on the games and prices so we all can see and be jealous at the same time!
Haha yea man, I was really focusing on getting the price to show properly in the video. Glad you noticed :D
Heh yea and some people want shorter actually xD But I might do a longer one later when I have time. I want to try it. In the meantime you can just watch all my Game Hunting videos in a row here :D ua-cam.com/video/IxgU8jRacIg/v-deo.html
Good advice on visiting a book-off/hard-off that is near a places on their itinerary. For most travelers visiting jp they do not have time to travel to multiple stores.
Well said my friend. I always get questions of which Book Off or Hard Off to visit. Now people can just check videos on youtube and get a glimpse of what is in which store.
Nice deals you found there at that giant book off you visited. 👍👍👍
Yeah, its my favorite Book Off too :D Games are going fast there because of their cheap prices. Out of all the Book Off stores I've been to, I bought the most games there.
It’s stunning how some retro games are as cheap as 1$ and less this type of prices are not around here in the u.s and the best part the almost free games in japan are in terrific shape I luv buying my retro games from japan everything look so brand new
Yea, its cool to see that the $1 dollar games are still there to find when the prices are rising.
Yes I know, in Europe its expensive too. And thats also something I appreciate about Japan. Most of times, the condition of the games are excellent!
Thanks for watching, Laura! :)
I'm considering collecting imports from Japan since a lot of American copies are not the cleanest (especially since licking Switch cartridges were a thing).
love gunstar heros good find. Mega drive games outside of akiba or other big retro game places are hard to find.
I was really stoked to find it. Love this game as well. And yes, I've noticed. I rarely see MD games in Book Offs overall.
Prices of retro games are really good in Japan :) Depending on where you are (and don't mind shipping fees), Japanese auctions are also a good source of games for reasonable prices.
On a side note:
- When you saw the PS1 copy of Diablo, I was actually hyped. It's so hard to get an english copy of it (for a reasonable price).
- Random Sakura Wars in the SNES pile and damn that was a good looking copy!
- Why the hell is that pristine Amagami PS2 box with the console accessories XD
- Never heard of that Mario and Wario game. It definitely sounds interesting.
- Not into N64s but that red controller looks fantastic.
- That random Fate/Extra at 22:32.
Yes, if you look in the right places you can get them really cheap for sure :) Well, japanese auctions are a little more complicated cause its in japanese and so on but surely better than eBay from what I've seen.
-Oh, I wasnt even aware of that, cool!
-Haha yea, thanks for naming the title, I'll check it out :D
-Mario and Wario is a bit unknown actually. Its fun for a while I guess.
-Yea the N64 Funtastic series is still great looking, even by todays standard I think
@@RetroMoments Oh right, you currently live in Japan yeah? I mostly use proxy services so I guess those kinds of services are kinda moot for you XD
Sakura Wars is considered a Sega classic (if I'm not mistaken. I didn't really grew with Sega consoles). Luckily, the a fan english translation for the original Sega Saturn (I think) was released last year which makes it easier to check the original.
The idea of Mario and Wario (from what you've shown) seems really unique though (especially for the time).
Kinda wish that they'd continue doing (official, not third party) translucent stuff for current consoles.
Right now yes, I'll go back to my country later but I will always come back here :) Pretty much a second home at this point. And yea exactly. However, there are special sites where you can sign up and bid on japanese auctions and they will help you with translating the sites and deliveries. But if you do it manually, thats cool :D
Oh, had no idea. I didnt grow up with SEGA either. A few friends had them but it was all about Nintendo those days. I'll check out the game :)
Yea I agree, it is. Its a good game. Just a little repetitive. Should've been released outside Japan tho.
100% agreed on that!
Safe travels then
Omg I totally forgot about slammaseters !!! That game was awesome !
Oh yes! I want to hook up my SNES to play it soon as well :D
Thanks for doing these Book-Off videos. I was planning to go to Japan next year and was hesitant to add Book-Offs in my schedule with all of the Hard-Off stores that I am planning. It seems that with the 100 yen racks it might be a good idea though. In your experience, does it seem that Book-Offs are pricier than Hard-Offs on most items? Also, how did you get the 20% off coupons? Is there a way for tourists to get them or are they mailed to your apartment in Japan?
Thanks for watching all my videos :D Absolutely, I wouldnt skip Book Off’s, especially the bigger ones.
There’s good deals in Book Off stores as well and the plus stores also has a junk section most of the times.
I got my coupons after the first time I bought something there. Could’ve been good timing as well.
@@RetroMoments Thanks for the info on the Book-Off plus stores. I had no idea that any of them even had a junk section. Awesome! How often do they give you coupons? Do you have to purchase a certain amount...like $20...or does it seem to be random? Since you aren't a permanent resident, can you still get your purchases tax-free or is that only for tourists just passing through?
Great video my man!
Thanks Joseph! Happy to hear that!
Nice video! I remember Nagoya being hailed as the new retro place to go several years ago 😂
Btw do you speak Japanese fluently?
Thanks man! Really? haha! Nagoya has great prices in most of the places actually.
I do not. I've been casually learning when interacting with japanese people at least.
I guess Book Off is the most exciting place in Nagoya :D
If you want cheap games to waste time on, then yes :D
the bomberman game for the N64 was the japan exclusive bomberman 64 part 2
Are you sure? I thought the exclusive one had a different artwork. I was talking about it in this video:
ua-cam.com/video/5HnNbYRT_Nc/v-deo.html
@@RetroMoments sorry you are right. the game in the retrogame hunting video was released as bomberman second impact in the usa. but not in europe. I am from europe so it was my mistake.
Its okay, man! Right, the second impact! Im from Europe as well so I get it.
We want to see all the item with price , and some arcade stick price , plz plz ; we love your UA-cam
Thanks, Raymond! I promise I will have more videos with more prices next time :D
Gung stara heroes eh?
Hahaha! I love her accent when she says that 😂
@@RetroMoments Japanese people are awesome
@@sleeksm4 Oh yes, they're the best!
What paradise for gamers.
Oh yes! Its incredible and so much fun looking for games!
I plan to go to the University of Tokyo once I finish my studies (So in about a year). I literally love the GBA and it's games but they are rare AF in my country! (Pokemon Emerald pops up here about once every other month, and it's usually really expensive). I can't wait to visit these stores. Only thing left to do is try to get accepted there !
Ah cool! You are going to love it!
Where are you from?
Yea, its awesome. Im hoping to get back there soon.
Also, Hope you get accepted! Good luck!
Did u see any neo geo pocket games?
I saw some, but not that common I guess. I found Rockman for NGPC in the beginning of another video "Ultimate Store in Japan". Otherwise not much that I can remember. I should definitely focus on more of that in the future too.
I dont even care about everything else, just the junkbin lol.
Totally get it :D Expect new videos with just the junk section soon lol
1:48 I'm ready zip down use one hand and spread the sauce.
Is that a Swedish accent you have?
It is! Was it all that clear? How did you know? :D
📙💯
I like to speak to you through a microphone!
May your dreams come true, young man.
When you buy all your games consoles there in Japan how do u take it back to your country? Do u put it in your backyard or box? At airport do they question you why so many games you have? 😄 @sara_colorful_nintendogirl
I brought back one suitcase full of games to Europe. No questions at all on the airport about it. It went fine :D
168$ for switch lite, omg. Can you send me like 30....
Haha I was actually thinking about sending games and consoles to people from Japan. Just need the world to get a little better first!
@@RetroMoments won't custom duty be applied and the price will automatically increase that way?
Yea there will probably be some of that but if I send a lot at once it could be fine. I will look into this later and see how it works exactly.
checking games like secret of mana and ultima without mentioning them, but calling out games that a 10 year old can make a playthrough in 15 minutes.. I think my heart breaks for the next generation of youngsters that thinks u survive 12 shots from a pistol and just respawn when u are dead :)
Ultima was one of the most iconic games ever in many ways and secret of mana is(I think) the first game in the fantasy game genre ever, I can be wrong, but I was shocked it wasn´t given more attention :D
Haha, don't worry. I probably didn't mention those games cause I've already talked about them in my past videos. No need to repeat myself as most people who watch these videos check all of them :) Also, Secret Of Mana is one of my favorite SNES games ever. It's extremely common in Japan so I see it pretty much every time I look in these stores :D
@@RetroMoments ah, a tip then for future videos, just mention that u´ve alrdy mentioned them before in other videos or sumtin so that u don´t break more aging hearts :D
4:43 dude wtf the games were NOT like that when you began to mess them around! Have some RESPECT and place the game as they were! You left 2 games aplying pressure to another box. That can damage a box for someone that might want the game. DISLIKE
First off, those 2 SFC games were very light-weight. And N64 game laying there was heavier so I am certain nothing happened. I would NOT put them in there otherwise. Also, it was a bit stressful to film that day. After I am done I always put the things back as they were. Look in my other videos how I even place games in better positions and make it look a little better overall. Its comes naturally for me.
