  • I've been doing a lot of inner child work this week leading up to my album release. I have been singing my whole life, but it took me a LONG time to find my own voice. "Where Have I Been?" is dedicated to little Jade: You had the power all along my dear. ✨🦋ingrv.es/where-have-i-been-n4...
also s/o to @KevonStage for this interview back in 2019 (we must protect Kev at all costs🥲)

I know is kind of off topic but their are Kpop groups that have a lot of creative control over their product. Stray Kids write and produce all their own music. But like I said off topic.

They don’t. They have to give the illusion that they do so fans feel comfortable. Even groups who produce for themselves, they have to produce for the image of the group and then present it and get it accepted by the company. Kpop fans want this to be true so they feel like their favs have autonomy and as much as that would be preferred, it’s not the case because that wouldn’t benefit the company.

@genesis6746 I didn't say that they didn't get any help from the company but they do write and produce their own songs. I'm not just wanting this to be true in the case of stray kids it is true, they work with the company but they have actual writing and producing credits on their songs and they have worked with other people in the industry outside their agency that have confirmed that they do write their own music. Three of them have over 100 KOMKA credits each but I guess the company could be giving them credit they don't deserve but I don't know how that would make business sense because they would get the royalties. I'm not saying I might not be wrong here but it seems like a lot of trouble to go through. They have multiple videos of the 3 of them producing the tracks so they would have to fake all that and then give them KOMKA credits and have them work with the outside artists a little so they would confirm that they were writing the songs. That's a lot of work to fake something, they could just say they have some input into the music for the fans why go that far.

@@amyw2475 and I’m not saying that they don’t produce some songs. I’m saying they have to produce within what the company tells them. That they have to pitch to the company and the company decides whether the song they made fits the image they’re trying to put out. That’s not having power over your career or image. Because you can only do and say things within the allowance of the company. K-pop fans confuse self production as freedom and that’s not that. Even the writing. It has to be approved and follow guidelines set up. That’s not freedom. Freedom is producing in your own desired style and speaking about whatever you want. K-pop idols can’t do that. Not even stray kidz. The closest we’ve seen to that being done was with the BTS solo projects but BTS is big enough to where they can do that because they no longer need to follow the self love image.

@genesis6746 I understand that it's not totally free, but I think it's different than the groups that have no input into their music and just sing and dance what their told. Of course they are going to be expected to adhere to the image of the company, the company is providing money for them to make the music. That's a give and take situation, and the artist has to decide if they are willing to live within that environment. They are under contracts and if they as artists decide that they want total creative freedom they can always leave their contract when it's up. This is not that different than what artists here in America do when they are signed to labels. I wouldn't say it's fair to say they have no creative control. They just have a boss that has to sign off on their work. But they are the artist so if they limits them to much they can go somewhere else, the company needs to keep the popular groups happy so if they limit them to much they can just not renew their contracts.
