If creeping phlox starts to show its tan middles, like the woody stem areas, what is that indicating? Should I shake on some top soil and Petitti's planting mix so it is deeper?
The center of creeping phlox browning out can indicate too wet or too dry conditions. We don't recommend covering it with soil. It is best to check soil moisture around the plant. If too wet, roots can rot and mildew can develop turning the foliage brown too. You can try digging it and raising the plant up, a few inches, incorporating compost or Sweet Peet around it to increase drainage. If you haven't fertilized it with Plant-tone and Iron-tone, that can also help green the plant up. You can also clip the green edges of the clump a couple inches to force new growth back at the base of the plant.
@@PetittiGardenCenters I use Miracle-gro crystals mixed with water on alot of my plants and flowers. 1 tablespoon to 1 gallon of water that has been left open for at least 24 hours to let the chlorine evaporate. Is this ok to use on most things except for the few plants that won't flower with food?
Miracle Gro is a multipurpose fertilizer, so as long as you are following the package directions for the plants you are feeding that is fine. Because it is a liquid solution, just know that it is fast-release and if overused can burn your plant material.
Great video! 😊

Will my creeping phlox come back next year they were planted 10years ago
New Gardner in Ohio: happy about the phlox. I was wanting to amp up the ground cover.
Welcome to Ohio! Happy gardening!
What are the chances this will survive in central Florida?

My don't bloom just like a few. Help
We live in the city of philadelphia there are no snakes in the city
A mean neighbor had them cut back she moved next door 3years ago, her reason for cutting them was there could be snake under them.
Why do they have grass that grows like crazy in the Spring and Summer
My heart aches every time I look at my yard they were cut without my permission on my property
