JK K oh my gosh. Wow. Thank you. I need to visit Portland just for this. I think I born with a book attach to me. This is my world. Looks like lots of fun.
I agree. Reading a book on a screen is NOT for me. I love the smell of books too. And I miss just going to bookstores every weekend to browse & shop. Not now... :( can't. World is so different. It's sad. xx
I'm a long haul trucker, and every time I end up in Portland, I make sure to stop here. I usually take a day off, have breakfast at Fuller's, then spend up to 6 hours just chilling here. It's a wonderful place!
Best you can do these days to come close to that vibe! Even public libraries allow visitors/costumers no longer than 30 minutes these days! :crying: I do see the point, totally, and I haven't even cared for 20 years - guess you do miss most what you just can't have. Ask me again in one year. :P
It is now 2021 and this has become my comfort video. An excellent reminder of what it feels like to explore the long halls and many stories of a bookstore. Heres to hoping 2021 will be the year we can all return to the wonderful smell of coffee, tea and new and old books alike.
if you ever want to go see a gorgeous book shop (not quite as big but equally as beautiful) you should check out barter books in alnwick if you've never been. it's a used book shop that's a lot smaller than this one but so cosy and so beautiful. i spent hours in there when i went, and it has a small cafe too. i think it used to be a railway station or something.
My lovely English teacher used to take my class on field trips to Portland, which is 2 hours away from where I live. We used to see plays at the Artists Repertory and Portland Center Stage, and when we saw a play at AR, we would wander around the Pearl District and everyone always defaulted to Powell's. It was always so beautiful. Watching this brings back so many memories, and I wish to go there again once it is safer. I love it so much, I always found so many amazing things, I always had fun with friends, and this video really reminded me to cherish the memories I have.
Love this! The one copy of Harry Potter with the amazing noses was Finnish! Those are my childhood copies, amazing to see them somewhere else aswell. Happy spring! xx
Just lol'd at !5:55 because I could see Landon in the glass of the door getting that shot with the camera of you exiting! What a great guy! I'm a new subscriber going through all your videos! Just stumbled upon your channel one day and I am SO glad that I did! Love it so much!
One interesting element is there used book buy counter. They divide into a reject and accept pile. You store the rejects away ASAP so that, when they are done, you clear out quickly to make room for the next seller.
Not sure if you'll read this, Morgan, but I wanted to tell you that your videos make me feel so quiet. Something about your voice, your smile, and the general wholesomeness of your content makes me feel energized and calm all at the same time. So, thank you!
That bookstore is amazing 😱 and you were right the first Harry Potter you showed was the german one. It‘s really weird when books I just normally find in my bookstore show up in the translation section in other countries.
Thank you so so much! Book cover culture is so funny! Really ours are the abnormal ones and the Britain covers are the originals. Have you read/seen the illustrated versions? AMAZING.
Worked at Powell's...we try to keep children's/middle grade books of all translations in the children's room so that bilingual or non-English speaking children don't have to go to a whole other room. It makes it more inviting for the kids.
Hello! Love this bookstore vlog absolutely! I’m a Chinese, so I notice that the third HP version you picked up is actually a Chinese translation one, we read just like how English books are read, starting from the first page, left to right instead from the last page, haha, still very cute you thought how we read from the back ;)
I can't express ... How much delighted i feel now... Thank you for this...i have never seen this kinda majestic thing ever in my life...i wish i could be there ... I want to explore every section of this magicland
This came up in my recommended and I clicked on it because of how much I miss my monthly Powells trips. I live in Portland and I have been going to Powells since I was a toddler, truly a magical place!
I started crying while watching this video haha i used to live in the Portland area but I had to move back to my home country (Korea). I still feel like Portland my home and I long to go back. I remember playing in the city of books when I was like ten- now im 17! Ugh anyway thank you for this lovely video and a trip down memory lane :)
I recently discovered your channel thanks to quarantine and have been bingeing on your older videos to catch up. You have been a beacon of light. Thank you for your content🙏 My gosh this place is what I imagine heaven to be like 😍
I loved Powells books when I went. In my 6 day stay in Portland I went 9 times. I didn't even want to go the first time because I thought it was pointless but I was urged to go. I loved it so much, I bought 20 books. And thanks to them they turned me from a 6 book a year reader to 52 book a year reader (One a week).
When you went to grab a tea inside of the store, it reminded me of something. 5mins into the video and i've got it! It reminds me of Fox Books from the movie "you've got mail". I've always wanted to go there and this looks to be the closest thing to it! Super cozy video
PS ... Forgot to mention Landon's fascination with the ladder. That really resonated with me because I have always LOVED those and the dream house I envision for myself has a library with floor to ceiling bookshelves requiring a ladder just like that (as well as a big comfy chair, cozy window seat that looks out on a beautiful garden or forest, and a table/desk with a little green reading lamp just like the ones in Ivy League library scenes in movies). :-D
I’ve just discovered your channel. Love your videos, your so sweet. Your enthusiasm and excitement about walking around a book shop makes me want to stop binge watching your videos and go and dig out a book!! I moved from England to Canada 10 years ago, bought allot of books with me, many of which I’ve never read, then had a child and have barely picked up a book since. I’m going to go and find one! Maybe I will start with Harry Potter again!!
Canadian here, traveled to this bookstore about 5 years ago. Amazing place. Thanks so much for this. Glad you didn't get lost, its so BIG and wonderful !
I remember Powell's well. One of my all-time favorite bookshops!! Everywhere I go, the first things I Yelped for are ... BOOKSTORES!! I know how you feel, Morgan!! Glad to have discovered your channel today. I was searching for "BOOKSTORE VLOG" and there you were!
Bookstores are a home away from home. I instantly feel comfortable and at peace whenever I step foot into one, no matter where I am! I'm so glad you found me-- thank you for watching my videos 💕
I just spent a week in Portland. I visited Powell's three times (two trips to the Burnside location and one to the Hawthorne location) and seriously considered a fourth trip.
There's just not enough time in the day/weekend to fully experience Powell's! I'm glad you visited the Hawthorne location, it's my favorite actually : )
Ahhh, I sooo miss the pleasure of getting lost among my most favorite characters and places in a dusty, wise bookstore 📚 I'm glad this video has given you at least some of that comfort :)
A friend brought back a Powell's bookmark from when she visited for a writing convention. I use it in all my reading now, even though I've never been. Someday I'll make it there and spend the whole day just wandering amongst books. (Also, I just found your channel and have already watched several videos back to back to back to back...not only is your cinematography beautiful, but so is the tone, your puppy, and your reading montages...basically I love it all).
I just love their book marks! I have SO many. What does yours look like? I'm excited for the day you get to spend the day at Powells 📚✨ Thank you sooo very much for being here and taking the time to watch and comment on my videos-- I'm so glad you appreciate the many different pieces that make up my videos, it's the best compliment! (and special thanks from Roo 🐾)
This video make me feel so nostalgic for back when we could travel and go anywhere before the virus. It’s such a cozy and happy video and it makes me just another level of calm 💕💞
this was so torturous to watch while being stuck at home and not being able to visit any bookstore. also there's no such beautiful gigantic place near me. it is a dream to visit Powell's Bookstore. It is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing this.
Best bookstore vlog!🙂 You two did enjoy yourself and talked about books plus gave books proper camera time..so I can admire the books in the shelfs..I watched it like 50 times and always love to watch your vlog before reading a book..
I keep going through your Powell’s shopping vids... it’s making me miss it there so much! After quarantine this is the first place we’re going. Thanks for being wonderful ❤️ Omgoodness I can smell the bookstore from here!! It’s what I hope heaven smells like 🤣
I just discovered this video (and your channel) through my recommended videos and I am so thankful for the algorithm today! This is the most wonderful bookstore vlog I have ever seen! So relaxing, and aesthetically pleasing, and the music you chose! Thank you for being you I needed this today! 💗
I went to Powell's once (just a couple of months before this video actually) and I was so star struck that I couldn't actually choose a book to get from there! I was able to come away with a list of recommendations though so I didn't leave totally empty handed. I can't wait to go back someday!!
I want I want I want.....what a great bookstore! And the Christmas tree costume! You are an old soul Morgan. Have you read Jacqueline Winspear or Louise Penny? Two of my favs, oh and Nevil Shute!💕 I love that coloring book! What an adventure....thank you for taking me to the bookstore today. I had a really good time.
This vlog was so warm and cozy and wholesome. You definitely made me want to go book shopping at Powell's, just those 16 minutes made me feel like I could spend hours in there and I was totally whispering "wow" under my breath as you took us around the place. I love that they sell used books! It only makes me want to travel there even more :')
Powell's is such a magical place ✨ I miss the comforts of it's endless maze of books 📚 I just ordered from their online shop but it simply isn't the same! I'm glad you could experience the magic through my video :)
Just loved it!! Can we appreciate the girl? She is damn nice and beautiful. Her voice is so pleasing. And the bookstore wow!! Unfortunately, in India we don't have that much bookstores or libraries but surely gonna visit them once this corona thingy is over. Just loved u and stay safe❤
This video was so magical! I'm also in love with the music you chose! The best and most cozy book shopping video i've seen so far! Keep this style up! ♡
I've just wanted to say that I had a really rough day and found this video because it was in my recommendations - I didn't look for it. It's like youtube knew what would lighten up my mood. This video made me calm and feel warm inside. - Just like another commenter put it: It made me feel at home. Plus, it has shown me a place to travel to, once the current pandemic quiets down. Thank you for this video!
adding this to places i need to visit before death
A wonderful bucket list item!
Me too. Definitely. Where is it? Do you know? I want to get lost there.
@@odelyalevy It's in Portland. :)
JK K oh my gosh. Wow. Thank you. I need to visit Portland just for this. I think I born with a book attach to me. This is my world. Looks like lots of fun.
@@odelyalevy You're welcome! It's a really fun to explore in there! Another AMAZING one is The Last Bookstore in Los Angeles!
Throwback to when u were able to walk around without a mask
I know I was so confused until I checked when this was posted
😟 yea

This bookstore looks absolutely stunning! This vlog was so aesthetically pleasing
Thank you so much!! It really is the most amazing bookstore 📚
Morgan Long hi love. do you know if there is any similar book stores in massachusetts or pennsylvania??
Yall so wholesome I could cry.
This is going to sound weird, but watching this, the night sky and seeing you in a book store, makes me feel at home
That is a most wonderful compliment!!! I’m so glad my video makes you feel at home 📚
not weird at all!!
Ikrr its so homey
I would kill to have a bookstore like that in my area. We dont have any here.

Fly to Portland. You could spend two days inside the store. Day 3, go see the city in all its Portlandia weirdness 😀

I could go into that store, and never be seen or heard from again.
Seriously, same!
They would smell you after 2 weeks without showering, so you would be found 😀
Good lord, it’s almost 4 months into quarantine and what I wouldn’t give to go hang out at this store for an afternoon.
Powell’s books and it is in Portland Oregon.
Love it. Really captures the magic of such a beautiful place.
Katherine Turner Thank you sooo very much!!

i don't know why the "i'm so glad you're here" at the start made me feel so welcome, but it did. subscribed instantly
I need this book store in my life. Might be too far to travel from England though.
Then again ...
hahaha this made me chuckle-- I like the possibility that lies in "then again..." ✨

Morgan Long i love your vibe!
I believe there are non stop flights from London.
We have a Waterstones in England, not as big, but just as beautiful.
It’s like the Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory of book stores! How did I not know this existed?! 😮😍
It is and so appropriate that it is smack in the heart of Portland.
9:40 - That is the Finnish (Finland) version of the Philosopher's Stone. All the other Harry Potter books in Finnish have strange illustrations, too!
omg are you finnish!?!?!?!!

I LOVE USED BOOKS! they each tell their own story on its own...just love it
I love this video. A cozy rainy night browsing the shelves of a bookstore is magical and comforting.
Oh the bookshop on the corner is such a fun read. Was excited to see it

This was so comforting. In a time where I can’t walk among a great big bookstore with no covid concerns, this lightened my spirit a bit.
I find this video so soothing and relaxing, it is so weird.
