Shortfest Spotlight: “Alok” from Alex Hedison and Executive Producer Jodie Foster

I had a great time talking to Alex Hedison as much as watching her directorial debut in the short doc “Alok” about Alok Vaid-Menon, the internationally acclaimed, non-binary, author, poet, comedian, and public speaker. It is both insightful and entertaining and totally riveting. Alex, who’s married to icon Jodie Foster, creates an indelible portrait of authenticity.
I spent some time with Alex to talk about her interest in the film, the importance of documenting Alok, and what she hopes for viewers to get after watching the film. It’s a film to be seen not just during the month of Pride but for everyone who years for authenticity.
“Alok” is making its California premiere at the Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films on June 22, 2024.
