I love the fabrics Rachel and your plans with them. That jacquard is going to make a nice vest. I too am cold all the time. Hope Layla is feeling better so you can spend time with her.
Love the boots Rachel! And the fabrics of course. I have used an open ended zipper as a closed zipper before by creating a new stopper at the bottom. I just zigzagged across the bottom of the zip and it worked a treat. I also have a book which I bought years ago called “Make your Own Dress Patterns” by Adele P Margolis which has got really clear instructions on how to make literally anything from a block pattern. Can’t wait to see all your makes 😘
You are so creative and have the best eye for fabric. Looking forward to seeing the jacquard. I like to knit but like you find it difficult to sit for long. I find knitting is a great activity for travel.
Love your fabrics especially the cow print one. I can't wait to see the jumpsuit when it's done! I just wanted to comment on the merino from your jumper. I made a jumper with Cascade 220 superwash merino and it grew quite a lot so I think yours should be ok when you block it. It's a really nice jumper and the colour is great on you.
Great vlog thank you. I have made a IAM hathor gilet out of a fleece lined cord…. I have worn it to death this winter and it has kept me so warm. I too have blocks that I made at a class two years ago but like you have found it hard in knowing what the next steps are, so I loved your explanation of how you drafted your pattern. I will defo go try that! Lovely makes ahead!
Amazing fabrics, Rachel. I wish I was in the UK. I had to smile when you talked about your bedsheet. I'm a bit the same. I'm a bit like the Hans Christian Andersen, Princess and the Pea. I can feel anything even though it's under the mattress. Does that mean I'm a princess?
Regarding the jumpsuit - As you normally extend the length of the bodice, can you extend the zip length also, might be easier than trying to get an 18” zip?
Love it all!! Cannot wait to see what you make Layla!! :+) I sure do miss having a dog in my sewing room!! I am hoping we can move soon, and get another dog after we r settled in!! Enjoy that Piper!! Dogs are such a blessing to us humans-I thank God for them!! What they can do to cheer us, keep us company, etc...is so amazing!! :+)
The jumpsuit will be AMAZING!!!! Can you use an open ended zip but sew the bottom closed? If that makes sense. Not sure a continuous zip would work as you need it to have the stopper at the top xx
On the zipper for the jumpsuit, if you are going to lengthen you probably want a longer zipper. Also getting a longer zipper an shortening to you needed length is easy. I very inexpensively bought a pack of 100 end stops and they will last forever. Many people just run some stitches over to secure.
Hi Rachel. Minerva have a pattern drafting series on YT where they go through lots of different projects to self draft things from your blocks. They've done a bodice series, a skirt series and now just started a dress series.
Great vlog as always. You should look Sure Fit Designs a great method for drafting and beyond I use my block to alter commercial patterns and to draft patterns. I have used that jumpsuit pattern it is lovely, I didn’t use a metal zipper so can’t help you. Very brave to use that fabric am looking forward to seeing it made up. ❤❤
As I watch this video I am currently sewing Sara from Sewing Therapy's reversible hanbok baeja - a type of vest. I've up cycled a wooden blanket. Mind you its the middle of Summer for me currently but it's the perfect item to pack with me on my travels in coming months.
Lovely fabrics Rachel, looking forward to seeing all your makes. In regard to the zipper, can you buy one from a bag making shop? Have a lovely weekend with Layla.
Hi Rachel I loved your scalloped outfit in other video. Can you please let me know if you folded the edge of fabric to get the lovely effect. I tried with my machine.😊❤
Love the coat fabric. Not sure what kind of coat you are after, but the huge pattern would look great is something with simple lines. Maybe the Tsssuti Berlin coat?
Perfect vest, yes a vest works so well as a layer ask me how I know. Canada -27 C the other day...yes in need of layers. Cool boots Feel better Layla, cool fabs for Layla as well
Hi Rachel, I loved all of your fabrics and your jumpsuit pattern. The boots are lovely but not to my taste.😮 The shade of pink you are knitting IS to my taste😂 and the lacy diamond design is beautiful. I was wondering whether you need to lengthen the torso area of the jumpsuit, thus requiring a longer zipper? Have a great visit with your granddaughter. ❤😂🎉 🇦🇺 🪃
Hi, love your fabrics and jumper. Ideas for using your block, Betty Foster "Adapting to fashion" was a TV programme in 1980. Should still be on You Tube . I got the book from Amazon a few years ago. She teaches how to draft a block and alter it to design your own garments. She uses small scale patterns to try things out first before doing it in life size. You may find it interesting. Look forward to your next video, take care x
Great content as usual. If you are struggling on how to adapt your own basic block into patterns, check out the closet historian. Bianca does everything starting from her basic blocks, and shows every step of the process. Most of her makes are vintage in styling, but the technique will still work for more modern and fashionable garments.
You can take a longer metal zipper even if it is a separating zipper and cut it off. There are videos on how to remove the teeth so you can put a few stitches in at the bottom to keep it together. Also love the knitting content. I am very multicraftual.
I just watched the latest Frenched Seams video and Rachel showed how she uses a continuous zip for her husband’s jacket and made the stoppers at the top.
Such lovely fabrics ❤ about the batting/wadding for the vest - I’ve made quite a few quilted jackets and I find that if you want something warm, go for natural fibres. I normally use a cotton/soy fibre mix, but I’m considering trying wool as well.
Re the zipper...... you can buy 1 a bit longer and cut it down and you can get those little metal stops you push over the teeth and bend the little pins over to keep in place.
I keep posting a web site but the messages keep disappearing the company is fabric romance they had zips. If you can see all my other message sorry for keep posting.
I couldn’t believe another video - wow thankyou ! Some great fabrics , it’s such a treat to sew with fabulous fabric look forward to seeing your makes

Love your fabric choices! Beautiful and not something you would see in ready to wear. Much more elevated. Those leopard print boots are fantastic!
Ooh the purple cotton lawn matches your nails beautifully!! x
That jumpsuit is going to be AMAZEBALLS!!!
Your fabric is beautiful and the boots are outstanding
That jumpsuit pattern is a great one! I have made it several times: both the short version and the long one. Love them all!
i made that jumpsuit three years ago and wore it out absolutely loved it. mine was grey linen yours will be fab.
I also bought the eggplant cotton lawn, you are right it is fabulous ❤
Amazing sweater! You are soooooo smart!
Love the fleece for Layla, she’ll look adorable!🐾🐾
Love the knited jumper your making, wish I could knit can just about manage a scarf😂patterns are far too confusing for me, great video.
Regarding the jumpsuit - As you normally extend the length of the bodice, can you extend the zip length also, might be easier than trying to get an 18” zip?

This is what I bought from Amazon when I used the zip tape, #5 300 pcs Antique Brass Zipper Bottom Stops and Top Stops.
On the zipper for the jumpsuit, if you are going to lengthen you probably want a longer zipper. Also getting a longer zipper an shortening to you needed length is easy. I very inexpensively bought a pack of 100 end stops and they will last forever. Many people just run some stitches over to secure.
Cannot wait to see the jumpsuit. You could purchase a longer zip and sew the end closed to the length required

Love quilted vests!
Love your nail color! ❤

I made that jumpsuit in denim and I love it!
Very cool check linen!!!😮
Lovely fabrics Rachel, looking forward to seeing all your makes. In regard to the zipper, can you buy one from a bag making shop? Have a lovely weekend with Layla.
Wool batting would be really cozy.
Hi Rachel I loved your scalloped outfit in other video. Can you please let me know if you folded the edge of fabric to get the lovely effect. I tried with my machine.😊❤
Hi Rachel, can you please tell us.more about the pattern drafting. Which books and web sites do you use ?
Thank you. X
Lovely fabrics. You could use the extra half metre of fleece as wadding for you vest maybe? As long as the colours don’t show through.
Cool boots Feel better Layla, cool fabs for Layla as well
Love your fabric choices, I think your idea for the zipper is the way to go. I’ve picked up my knitting this year too, how do you block your knitting?
Hi Rachel, I loved all of your fabrics and your jumpsuit pattern. You might be able to find some continuous zips from a bag making supplier? Good luck

multicraftual, love that word. I need to add that to my vocabulary.
There are videos on how to shorten a metal zip. I think there’s on seamworks.
I just watched the latest Frenched Seams video and Rachel showed how she uses a continuous zip for her husband’s jacket and made the stoppers at the top.
Fabric ban?? Eh nooo 😊😊😊 your hair is lovely today... boots are ❤

There is a place called Wawak that sells coverall zippers but not in brown
Re the zipper...... you can buy 1 a bit longer and cut it down and you can get those little metal stops you push over the teeth and bend the little pins over to keep in place.
I’m from the U.S. and would get that zipper from Wawak. I don’t know if they ship internationally.
Three videos...lucky not tortured 😊
Try thoughtful creativity and the closet historian fir self draft and patterns manipulation videos. They’re both great.
Don't you usually have to add length in bodice? Maybe look for a 20" zipper?
I bought a roll of metal zipper tape on Amazon so I could cut it the length I needed.
Oh Rachel, forgot to ask ,, how is the gym going xx
Ask Judi, please. Earlier you two were together all the time. And she knows how to guide you on the project
xXX👍👍👍
