Understanding HALF DROP wallpaper and how to hang it.

- Are you familiar with the basics of wallpapering and the significance of terms like "Half Drop"? Let me demystify it for you.
Understanding where to begin with wallpapering is crucial, especially when dealing with Half Drop patterns. If you mistakenly cut pre-determined lengths assuming they'll align seamlessly, you risk a costly error.
Half Drop patterns don't align straightforwardly like Straight Through matches. Therefore, knowing where to start and finish when applying wallpaper becomes pivotal.
So, do you have a grasp on where to begin and end the wallpapering process?

Brilliant video Phil very well explained well done
Short but straight to the point ! 😃👍🏻
Nice one Phil...wallpaper designers and companies don't do as any favours do they, life would be so much easier if the patterns were symmetrical to the paper width
Correct. But those papers that have no pattern on the edge to butt up to are terrible.. the laser liner horizontal helps there though
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator they could have put the pattern equally down each edge
bloody designers! great at creating things that look nice but are a real sod to make work. Not matter what the industry it's the same. Make wallpaper designers hang the paper, then they'll design better lol
Hi Phil surely you have to take into consideration moving left and right into the corners where the paper will finish as you don't want a small sliver left to peice in , rather than just placing the 1st peice inbetween the screws because it looks good on the eye ??
Always offer it up on the rolls forst, see where each length would fall.
Same on chimney breasts.
So you either find he middle of the wall and hang the paper edge to a centre middle line... OR... hand the centre of the paper to the centre line (measure it so either side of the centre line is equal size t the edge of the roll of paper.
Dont forget, if it's paste the paper... the paper will stretch and be a different size to it's dry state.
Make sense?
Good knowledge. What laser line is that please Phil?
Laser liner
Google them, also in Instagram.
Cost about £50

What happened to that squash court job, were you out priced, what paint would you use? Thanks
I got advice from a specialist firm that does squash courts day in day out. What they do is chop off the old plaster and re skim it with a special plaster that's suitable for squash courts.. they do all of it from re doing the floors, wall and lightning.. and re line them out.
The price was very good, so we putbtye price forward with tye plan for then to donthe work for us, we could then do the painting of the general areas.
We've heard nothing.
As far as I know there's not been any work done on them either since.
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator okay, sounds like a specialist job, would never of thought it needed a reskim
@@beecee6850 it's to do with the force of a squash ball hitting the surface at speed.
A re skim was a better option as previously the walls had had eggshell on them and more than likely silk!
Lovely to see a qualified experienced tradesman on youtube instead of the usual babble.. Free education blasphemy
The whole reason for had to do UA-cam ;)
👍
Wat do you charge a roll of paper phil
don't be charging per roll.
don't be charging day rates either.
Charge for the job being done.
A feature wall will be no less than £150 (don't forget lining)..... that may be two or three rolls.... each could be £100+
I don't get it when people say they charge £20/30 etc a roll.
some jobs I've done can only be three rolls and I'll be best part of 2 days... due to trickyness of the job.
Imagine saying before hand to someone.. oh it'll be £25 a roll to hang.
